  • cool video, But typical flatlanders road hunting. I belief you should have to be a resident of the county you hunt in.

  • So, you wouldn't mind losing the opportunity to hunt big game such as big horn sheep, mountain goat, prong horn or mule deer?

  • Ok.. Just because I don't have any videos of big game hunting makes me not a hunter? My camera would get ruined anyways and when I'm hunting I don't wanna fiddle with a camera. Don't get me wrong I thought the video was good and I'm happy she was able to take an elk even if it was just a cow

  • You're stupid man! I've been hunting on the Oregon coast my entire life and you never wear that color brown. And how could get stick in snow like that? How fast were you driving? It was nice she was able to bag her first elk. You shoulda taken her down in the bush. Now that's an adventure!

  • I looked at the vids you have on your channel; none of your videos relate to hunting. Make a big game hunting video first then critique my video. Your perspective will change.

  • you ever commented this video should be the next person to comment things on national tv

  • Cool video guys, thanks for sharing it.

  • Actually, nevermind me lol.

I guess I should wait till the video is over until I comment asking "dumb questions" like that. =D

  • Awesome video!!

I shot a cow this winter near Silverton. 285 yard shot and it was in a herd of about 40-50. They are DAMN TOUGH animals - I shot mine through the chest (.308 with Nosler AccuBond handloads), hamburgered the lungs and it just stood there and then went down after about 30 seconds and several more shots.

Mine hung at 334 pounds - What was Julia's?

  • cool vid, Julia put the smack down! Congrats! I like how your vid went through the whole process.

  • Thanks man, I appreciate the support!

  • You just wanna watch this video over and over...awesome job on it and fantastic excursion.

I have been putting in for Roosevelt Elk LEH draw for 18 yrs...maybe my draw is coming one of these years...it is a pretty special deal here on Vancouver Island.

Absolutely great show you made Nick and kule footage.

Congrats to Julia...she is the real deal...what a kule person she is...fun, pretty and willing to get right in there and get it done...nice work Julia and congrats to the whole bunch.

    5/5

  • Very good your video!

  • Great job kiddo! Congrats!!

  • What unit is this in? and why not go for a bull? i usually go up Fox Creek

  • This is the Trask unit (#14) just outside Tillamook. And you can't shoot bulls with a cow tag; the law tends to frown on that.

  • @KcinOutdoors hahah.. im sorry but something about the way you worded your response just made my day before i even got to watch the video.specifically "the law tends to frown on that." part.

  • Hey, don't be sorry man! I like it when my words make someones day!

    Have a good one!

  • I really liked your video. It captures the element of a real Oregon hunt.

  • Thanks coldgyn! I just really wish I hadn't flinched...

  • awsome!! a women that hunts thats what i need.

    peace

  • WE GO AROUND LEES CAMP .NICE VIDEO

  • no offence, but bad shots. practise more with distances

  • Just want to say, I was not the one shooting; it was a family friend's elk hunt. Also, I edited out most of the shots. There were 7 shots fired and 6 hit the elk. You only see 3 shots in the vid. The first shot hit the heart; the 6th hit the lungs; the 7th shot flew behind the elk. That's how it went down; it's just that last shot that makes everything look bad.

  • nice video job,,,,were was this at???

  • This was just outside Tillamook.

  • Great shot Julia...

Jwdundon- What you need to do is find one of those spotted Owls use a 410 they taste better then chicken (tree huger)

  • What cameras were you using (for the video and the photos)???? Nice Quality!!!

  • The videos where shot with a JVC HDD handycam and the photos were taken by my Fujifilm Finepix J38.

  • right on that was a good shot i just shot my cow today up the 300 line in lincoln coutny it was a good hunt jump them on the road at 7:30 and hit the timber after them and got mine down a hour later when they slowed then i relized this is goin to be one hell of a pack out lol thank god for chaine saw whinch

  • Sorry but, can't watch it PAST 1:40 "COW ELK" WTF??????

Even a girl shouln't be shooting cows.. kill the cows and we don't have babies....

Sorry but this is a NO VOTE

  • I'm not sure where you stand on hunting, but I, unlike you, realize the importance of proper herd management; that includes taking big old female elk like the one harvest in this vid.

  • Until a cow can NO LONGER produce calves WHY SHOOT THEM??

Logic like yours, 'shoot old fat heard cows are good' to thin out the heard is WHY the elk were hunted until they went extinct n western Oregon. Would you shoot the LAST cow elk in western Oregon for heard management?

Bottom line shoot the cows = no babies = NO GROWN ELK TO HUNT.Would you rather kill cows or bulls? Your heard, your choice! Cows or bulls! Btw- meat hunter? A Bull has MUCH more meat than a cow.

  • Well, you certainly feel very strongly about this subject of shooting cow elk. I would have rather Julia shoot a bull but the hunt was for cows only. Her father set the hunt up and I was just along for the ride. Regardless of how you feel, the state of Oregon issues cow elk tags. It sounds to me your frustration is directed at the wrong person.

  • @KcinOutdoors From an old Tillamook Elk hunter don't bother with that knuckle head, clearly he has never hunted Elk and never see Oregon coastal Elk.

Let the young lady shoot all the cows she wants on her permit, we know it won't make a scratch in the Elk population on the coast range their are so many Elk.

The Illegal immigrant Mexicans and Asians poach more coastal Elk in one year than legal hunters shoot in 5 years on the coast and it doesn't make a dent in the Elk heards.

  • @jwdundon Western Oregon was a cougar problem. Not an over hunting problem

  • @buckyandlucky -- Cougars, WOLVES, (the ones they say we don't have)! Poachers, spot lighters, Disables hunters "TAGS", cow seasons, late cow season, early cow season, Extra hunts, additional elk hunt, special draw hunts....

TOO DAMM MUCH HUTNING! too damm much 'mis-managed' game managment! We need to fire the entire ODFW staff and get some common sence in there!

1 tag, for one elk, in the state! AFTER RUT!

1 tag, for 1 buck, in the state (after rut)!

  • @jwdundon Dude, I've seen your posts all over this video, and I'm sorry, but you're a dumbass. The tags have been the same for as long as I can remember and Oregon boasts a herd of over 120,000 animals, that's up 22% since 1984, this is all due to good management of the herd through hunting. And for bow hunters, how do you not hunt the rut? That is the reason most of us bow hunt, interacting with the bulls on their terms in their language is the biggest reason. Shut your mouth!

  • @jwdundon after rut hmmmmmmm when the deer dont move becauser theres 2 foot of snow

  • bull meat is tough unless its a spike and that is my guess the mill creek cow hunt they have to shot cow. i dont think it is wist to shot a lead cow the meat is tough and its heavy and harder to get out id prefer to shot a calf but i take what i can get because i hunt with muzzleloader thats why i shot a lead cow this year only one to stand still and a bull doesnt always have more a lead cow is bigger than most bulls

  • @jwdundon they never were hunted to extinction that is why we have 2 types of elk in oregon the rosevelts and the rockeys

  • @jwdundon Let me point out another ignorant statement you have made that points to you have never hunted Elk in any state .

Cow elk have just the same amount of flesh on them as a Bull Elk and many cows are larger than bulls.

I am 52 years old now, but I stated to hunt the Tillamook area with my father from age 6

Our family has harvested countless number of Elk from the Tillimook forest, starting in 1978 I was offering guided Elk hunts in this region of the coast range.

  • @jwdundon So where do you live in a 3rd world country that has all its animals whipped out .

I am from this part of Oregon so I can tell you the Elk populations are in excess on the Oregon coast range.

This is correct herd management by the Oregon department of fish and game to manage excess numbers of Elk .

So I am sorry for you that you un educated to wildlife management in the state of Oregon.

  • Finally Watched it. Great job with the editing and narrating. Looks like hunting is a pretty tough job. :-)

  • good times, good hunt. I've never been lucky enough to have that much help b4 to get an animal out, must have been nice. Great video and good luck in the future.

  • awsome video great job julia
