You are really tempting me to go out and buy a macro lens.. On a side note here, whats the difference between a Micro lens (Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED) and a Macro lens? Same thing?
I didn't use extension tubes and have a 100mm macro USM but for this type of video I would expect to hear about the option of tubes. No money in them? I like this channel but it makes me wonder what else I'm not learning on other subjects. Thanks for any response. Thanks for the video.
@mfarring13 Thanks. Makes sense. I guess with the small apertures it's handy to use a flash. I wish these ring flashes were not SOOO expensive. Good tools.
I am not a fan of extension tubes and have the 100mm Macro lens you show here. great lens! However, I'm surprised extension tubes were not mentioned. Just wondering why? Poor image quality? The 100mm Macro is one of the best lenses I have.....and I have MANY.
By far the best most useful photography channel in here! Great stuff, i enjoy every single show! Could you review the new ShutterSnitch software for the iPad? :) cheers Bruno
Nice ! thanks Mark. I have also seen somewhere.. that extension tubes are used for macro photography and something else that they put in the front of the lens, I don't know how it is called, but I think it magnifies the image for the lens. So it would be great if you can add an episode two covering some of this. Thanks !
Im not sure if its true today as it was before, but shouldn't you turn off the Image stabilization if the camera is on the tripod to prevent fooling the IS into adding blur to the image?
I've been doing it wrong all this time. >_<

Would you be willing to share the brand and model number of the tripod you are using in this video? Great video, thanks.

I guess if I have a wireless remote I don't need a cable release? Correct!?!?!
erbagnoremac 1 year ago
@erbagnoremac correct, yet a cable release is a little more versatile because you can use it for bulb mode. but it essentially does the same thing.

@erbagnoremac Correct!

BTW - Why shoot at 1/200? Why not 1/100 or 1/50 on the shutter speed. I am a macro guy and wondering if I am making a mistake? Thanks, Nate
nate42nd 1 year ago
@nate42nd I think its because of the addition of using flash... as in setting the shutter speed to the sync speed. plus it will help reduce blur.

@nate42nd Thanks for your question. We have the extension tubes here in studio, and are planning to do an episode about them soon!
