  • Wow, I had no idea the original was like this... I wonder why they took it out? Looks like I'll have to pick up the Japanese version as well.

  • Wow the spider has a ton of sounds

  • For Christ ! This Game Came Whit The Sega CD in The Famous Pack !

    Part of That Unforgettable Box

Soooooo Remarkable The Intro ( Vocal Fx Speech Never Heard on the Genesis )

I Was sooo Fascinated Watching it

Thanks Team for this Magic Gift Really

I Love the SoundTrack and this Version Has some Better Sound Effects Yes

    WonderFull Upload 5 Stars !

  • I never much cared for the game, but some of the tracks (iirc, the ending outro was so good it could have been in a motion picture) were just unreal.

  • I could never get past level 2 lol

  • This is one of the very first sega cd games I have ever played, and still a pleasure to play! HOWEVER...I would love to see this game updated with modern graphics on the xbox 360 with the help of sega :-D !!!

  • What a great shooter and so cheap on ebay I couldn't understand the reason..! A jewel for SEGA Mega CD! Love the soundtrack. Proud owner of the Japanese version!

  • This game was great and the music was fucking incredible.

I remember me and my friend popping it into my home stereo for shits 'n' giggles and nearly crapping ourselves when the MUSIC played.

  • @AragornIsStrider

I'm not really a Motoi Sakuraba fan, but this game's music is undeniably awesome.

  • Just got this on ebay with cobra command for £1.70, because it was poorely listed.

    Awesome!

  • Incredible game with a superb soundtrack. I give it a 8/10.

  • jp and european sega cd games had the best music woop woop, this game is awesome, played this with me dad back in the day , the music is great... the 3rd level lava level was insane.. i love it , bout to get the emulator n rom right now peace cheers

  • the music is exactly the same. it's just the sound effects that are different. and... to argue what is better is purely personal choice. myself I like the US sound effects because they are louder and more pronounced. some might call them more annoying. but I like them that way.. I personally like the sound effects better on the sega CD. I've played both versions btw

  • cheers for comment , i got 2 negetives , what did i say wrong i never said nothing negetive about the game just said my personal preference. sucks man haha . well peace xx

  • Have this on the Mega CD. Should win an award for the awesome music on this level.

  • @ridley1k Yeah (!)

  • The original Genesis version was called Sol-Deace. The Sega CD version was Sol-Feace. Same game, but the CD version had better quality music.

  • Yeah that threw me off, I wonder why they changed the name. I still find it amazing that the Sega CD graphics are no improvement over the Genesis. I know they were both 16-bit but I still expect Sega CD to have better graphics.

  • In my top 5 of greatest Sega CD games!

  • Took me so long to find out what this game was called. This was one of my favourite games I played as a kid. I remember the day my mom gave my sega mega cd to some russian family the was less fortunate..You don't do that to a child damnit!! lol

  • I so miss playing this excellent game ;~;

I remember when I got it, it was just so awesome I would leave it on all night just to continue the next day.

  • One of the only reasons to get a Sega CD.

  • Sakuraba makes such badass music, hes come a long way. This was the first game that I played that I realized how cool the music could be.

  • totally selfconcentrated. THEKAO: yes,it was a clunch on the floor :))

and NEOGEON: Midnight resistance! THK you,one of those games i didnt remember myself, yes it was great thus average..there were many "njaa"-games 65-75/100ratings that if u just didnt listen to smallminded senseationalhunters were VERY GOOD,think this was 1,right now and here reminds me "gaaah,it dissapered.. it was a quit late platform, lil vikingtheme, stiff gameplay but if u understand the programmers it really was worth it

  • tears...in my adult(well)eyes... this music we played til ears melted.. bundled with my totsally magic hyped futuremachine..with C D-records!!??? tta-taataa tatatatatata ..approximately 200 solarsystems away... hahaha fuck !! it was so above our worthyness waynes world

  • The American system originally came with this game and I played the hell out of it. Very difficult to complete but a real sense of accomplishment compared to most current gen titles.

  • The soundtrack for this game is way too good for how average the actual game is... strange.

  • Ever heard of Iridion 3d? Another perfect example.

  • play midnight resistance: best music on Genesis, completely average platform shooter (though still not bad by any means, and considering its release date its pretty good).

  • Totally agree. Awesome soundtrack, besides the game has average everything else.

  • RE: neogeon:

Midnight resistance has a great soundtrack on the Genny, but the game itself is better in the arcade. Too bad the Genny's music isn't on the arcade original.

  • I dunno, I've played both versions and I honestly prefer the Genesis version. Now, that said, that is playing it through MAME which requires awkward controls whereas the arcade has knobs to fire in all directions. So, perhaps on a real cabinet the arcade version would be pretty cool to play, but I still think the sound and gameplay dynamics are better on the Genesis. When I say average I mean there isn't much that sets it apart, but by all means its high on my list of sentimental favorites.

  • RE RE neo:

The gameplay is exactly the same, including the patterns and hit detection. The only difference is that the music sounds crappy in the arcade (not just the sound chip, but they use certain pieces in better places on the Genny), the arcade version has more detailed graphics, and most importantly the knobbed joystick which makes it a whole different game, and also makes it impossible to play on MAME. Other than those points it's a straight port.

  • Most parts designed for the arcade rotary joystick, like the crawl spaces, didn't translate to the Genny very well. The game is very cleverly designed around the rotary stick. Since I played the game a lot in the arcade before buying the Genny version, the neutering of the heroes agility was immediately apparent. In the Genny version one tends to rely heavily on the bombs to hit tricky enemies.

  • RE RE RE neogeon:

Another downside of the arcade version was that it has a little more slowdown in a couple spots... a common sight in Data East games from that era.

  • Haha yeah...totally agree. When I first heard this music back in 1992 my jaw just hit the floor...

  • The soundtrack was incredible. They had one heckuva music composer working on this game.

  • Check out SYLPHEED aswell, also has some great music!

  • its SILPHEED you dilweed

  • It's called 'Shut up neogeon you turnip'

  • Motoi Sakuraba who was responsible for the music in the Star Ocean series and Valkyrie Profile 1&2 :D

  • Why didn't those effects come in PAL or NTSC-U versions? Those are awesome. But, if you want those, get a MultiBIOS chip. That way you can play all Mega/Sega CD games on your console.

  • God, I remember the first time I played this game long after the Sega CD was dead, I fell in love with it, and quested to get a Sega CD and this game for the longest time afterward, I didn't care what others thought, this game rocked, and it rocked hard!

  • This game had incredibly cool music.

  • Made by Motoi Sakuraba the same person who did the music for the Tales, Star Ocean, and Valkyrie Profile games. It was one of the first games he did music for.

  • @Beetyborscht It even rivals Gradius II's BGM.

  • I can't get this thing working on my emulator for some reason.

  • Me either

  • I used to love this game on my SegaCD, i remember when i used to be at school i stuck my game into the CD player and taped the soundtrack to listen in my old walkman on the way to school!

did the same thing with my SonicCD too hehe.

  • Old School, yeah!

  • when the lord gave me my lovely sega cd for the first time i could enjoy this game that came as a sega combo pack inside the box and it was a beatifull surprise to me for that time listen the incredible intro whit a cinema voice speaking.."in the tweentys century"..unforgettable!!

  • nice game , i have it .yeah
