@fengineer08. The jump training BUDS graduates receive is static line. This is MFF, which would be completed later on in their training. Unless things have changed that drastically over the years that I'm dating myself. RIP Shane

You're correct it was a chinook. Shane, along with other SEALs and SOAR were trying to rescue four SEALs that were taking very heavy fire on the ground. Unfortunately, there was a hidden bunker in the mountain side and an RPG was shot directly into the chinook as it was ready to deploy it's men.

Everytime I eat at the Coffe Cup. I look at Shane's picture and I am reminded to live my life to the fullest each day. Shane and Matt Commons (a army ranger who was killed trying to rescue Navy SEAL Neil Roberts)are our heroes from Boulder City. Matt is buried in Arlington National cemetery. Shane is buried in the Nevada Veterens cementery here in Boulder City. Shane and Matt will be remembered every day.
