  • Sounds good

  • Great! well done! really like your kit sound 2!

  • Dude, that is pretty friggin' nasty. Great job.

  • What DTX set do you have?

  • @Anonymously0Famous A Dtxtreme IIs set ...

  • i dont care what anyone says, very well done man! keep it up

  • effortless. Nice job

  • Il like alwayssssss ! bien le jeu de baguettes !!!! çà fait vachetement plaisir de te revoir mon pro. de Nico ;-)

  • Pretty neat... but you kinda ignored most of the ghost notes on the snare (at least it looks like you did... kinda hard to tell).

I tried to learn this son myself but I don't have enough time to spent on practicing...

    Anyways. Good job, man.

  • I wish I could find a drummer in my area this good. Far too many guitar players... Including myself. LOL

  • MAN!!! I love your black drums! you are goood mannn.. Besides very good sound quality. Check out my sober cover from tool! but in guitar.

  • nice job! but you can tell the audio is a bit off time from the video .

  • Since you have an electrionic set, it may be more efficient to run the audio directly from the set into your computer, and then merge that audio with the camera's video, rather than recording from the camera's microphone. Would make for a much much better sound quality.

  • Well....this is what I already do ...LOL

  • hey, i had an acoustic kit but had to sell it, now im thinking about getting an elc kit but im not sure, like with an acoustic kit you can just keep adding piecies, can you buy new drums/cymbals for an elec kit? reply to this post if you know

  • yea course theres many add on packages you can buy! even more so than acoustic

  • thanks man, so i could like buy a double bass drum pedal for it?

  • yeah mate defenetly some even come with double bass if you buy a rock or metal setup. but yeah you name it you can get it and more

  • yeah thanks man, any idea the average price of an elec. kit??

  • well inbetween the cheap ones and real expensive ones probs lookin at $1000 - $1500 depending on were you live, but theres ones much cheaper than that if u dont have much cash. but there worth every cent, u can make them sound like anything

  • yeah, im detassling this summer so im gonna be getting1000-1250.

  • oh great well yeah defenetly be on the look out for one, their just great if you live in a residential neighbourhood or dont have much room

  • I wouldn'y say more than an acoustic...have you seen terry bozzio's kit?

  • Nice playing mate, but the snare needs tweaking, its way too "damped" for Tool. (Danny never dampens his set, ever.)

  • but this guy isnt danny. you dont need copy evrything

  • A M AAAAA Z I N GGG !!"!"!"!"

  • hey nice job!

if you like tool check out my videos!

  • Great double pedal and crossover work. I myself play on a Roland but that Yamaha must be top of the line.

  • Forgive my ignorance but, what make is that kit?

  • This is a Yamaha DTXTREME IIs ....

  • dude i love your kit. where did you get the drum sound samples. I use an Alesis DM5. its quite good. Not the best but does the job right.

  • Thanx for the comment....The sounds I use on this song come from the yamaha dtxtreme2s internal sound bank...I've patched them up together , and here is the result.

  • hey man, at 3:39 - 4:08 you actually started to hit the snare pad with both sticks. did you really do that for show or did you really use to 2 sticks to make the sound double sorta of???? If so then I would really like to know where you got that drum module lol

  • Nope , it's not for the show...It's just a flam beat.

  • actually the snare hits on 2 and 4 are flams but the one on the "+" or 5 is a single stroke. and the tom part is on the low rack tom and the high floor tom

  • @v3teran Lol its a simple drum rudiment

  • who are you?

that was the most kick-ass drum cover of vicarious ive seen

  • Very impressive.

  • top notch mate! most glorious cover of vicarious I've ever seen

  • fantastic cover!

  • wow i've never seen anyone else play tool as well as you. great cover

  • Im not a fan of electric drum sets, but that was a sick cover.

  • Danny Carey of Tool USES electronic drums. 30% is e-drums and the rest is acoustic.

  • I realize that, but he normally uses electric equip. for those intros with "weird" sounding dealies.

    :P

  • actually Danny uses the Mandala electronic drums throughout his entire album of 10,000 Days and every night on stage. Cuz his e-drums are used part of this toms and cymbals. Not for "intros with weird soundings". :P

  • No no, I realize that danny uses electric drums, but I just don't like elec. kits, snare sounds okay if you only hit it once, but doing rolls or patterns on it sounds weird, and the toms sound "too perfect" if you know what i mean. All I was saying is Im not a fan of elec kits, but he did justice to the song anyway.

  • I see your point, you just don't like elec drums. Even I do not recommend acoustic. Not really a fan. I perfer the elec. since they're much easier on next door ears, easy tuning, sound changing and muffling with a quick touch of a button and etc. It depends on the drum brain and pads that determine the genuine sound of it. So not all pads sound well.

  • Yah, I would like an elec. kit for practicing at night without annoying people, different sounds ect. But In my opinion every drummer needs to know the feel of a real acoustic set. And for gigging ect ect

  • I used to have an acoustic for 2 years. And sold it. Why? Took too much space, too loud for my next door peeps, and the tuning was a bitch to get right. I agree that every drummer should try out an an acoustic set to see its right for them or try the Elec sets instead. Acoustic and Elect are both real drums in the same drum family. Just like there is no "I" in team. There is no use of the word "real" to divide acoustic and elec. Thanx for your opinion tho.

  • I see what you mean, but i really don't think that electric kits can fully replace an acoustic set.

  • I personally use both. I do agree though that e-kits can not, at this point in time, replace an acoustic set. What you said earlier about the snare on e-kits...It's called a "machine gun effect" but the good drum modules fix that. You're looking at over $grand CDN though to get that. I still will not use my e-kit live though, they look so lame when you try and rock out lol.

  • I never said anything about Elect should replace the acoustic. Elect and acoustic are the same deal. In my opinion the acoustic does have a warmer genuine sound to it along with tradition which I admire. Which is the only reason why acoustic is more used in professional drumming.

  • sounds fine to me

  • Nice job!!!!!!!!!!!does Danny use bells in the song?

  • That was awesome! I wish you were my drum teacher!

  • you're one of the best tool players i've seen on youtube, keep up the good chops man.

  • ya tbartels2008 pritty damn good to

  • syrius imagez at the hotmail.

  • Hey Danny, when did you shave your head ;)

good drumming bro how long did it take to learn this song ?

  • Lol !! Thanx for the comment ! It took me a couple days for the transcription and one day of hard work to learn the parts...But on the video , I'm reading my score....

  • nice job, can you send me the sheet music as well, thanks dude, keep up the good work.

  • Sure...Give me your email and I'll send it....

  • awsome dude

  • Thanx !

  • holy crap man ur to good for my comp it took for eva just to load this awsomeness

anyays great job! nice set too :) 5 out of 5 all the way!

  • Thanx for the nice comment :-)

  • Well done bro! Spot on!!

  • awh yeah!

  • your head is so shiny!

btw AWSOME! you owned a medal!!

do you play in a band!?

  • You beat me to the shiny head punch, lol.

  • just love it....simply GREAT

  • Damn. Just damn.

  • Tiens, je l'avais pas encore vue celle la !!!!

    Du bon, comme d'habitude !

  • where the hell do you find notation for a song like this????

    anyway great job

check out my cover of this and other covers!!

  • I prefer acoustic personally, but that was a reallyyy good cover!

Did you do this by ear, or notation?

  • By Notation....

  • Where did you get the notations for these songs?

BTW, it's quite a feat to learn this from ear. The record is pretty clear, but sometimes the attack of the bass guitar make me thing it's a bass drum or tom and throws me off.

Ooh... and my Mandala v2 is on its way... god I can't wait.

  • finally, i always prefer drummers who use notatin instead of doing it by ear, can you, if possible send me the sheet music please?

  • No problem , just give me your email and I'll send it to you...

  • I would rate it up but common dude, this song has so much emotion in the percussion... and you hit the drums like ur not enjoying the song one bit.

  • Are you serious when you say I don't enjoy the song ? You can't even see my face !!! Ahahaha...Please think before writing.Thanx

  • i imagine your talking about how hes hitting the drums.. you really dont lay into pads the same way you would an acoustic kit. Pads dont need to be hit hard for one even with velocity cencors, but your wrists also take more damage with rubber pads than they do on a real kit so you shouldnt be digging in .. he plays great.

  • Nice smoke break. Fabulous cover. Loved it.

  • Killer-

  • hey mate, fantastic cover.

Im looking to get an electric kit, what make is yours? sounds the business!

  • FUCK, YEAHHHHHHHHHH!

  • play it on a real set, wont sound anywhere like that

  • If I had had the possibility to play it on acoustic drums , I would have done it !

  • Uh, that is a real set. I think you meant to say acoustic set.

  • nice, cant play real drums??

  • It's electrodrums! On the acoustic?? XDDD

  • again i watch and again i like

  • Is that one of them new fangled electronic drum kits?

  • Nope...

  • WOW!!!!

  • drummers don't get chicks.

  • Lol drummers dont get anything

  • How can you tell if he is better than Danny if he is playing something that Danny wrote?

  • K maybe not better.....but still good

  • Very nice job, good job on fills

  • wish I had a good view on the double pedal part, other than that you're good.

  • yo man good drumming but get into it a little the last chorus of that song is epic by then im going crazy when i play this song...and i know this is a cover but play you should play your own fills haha its more fun that way

  • pretty kick ass man. Good covers as always. I saw danny play this live and he sweeps over all 4 of his toms descending and ascending.

    youtube dot com/watch?v=tX9AlDaIfjs

a vid of all danny playing vicarious live. Dont know if youve seen it, but here ya go

  • dude, were you smoking for abit there?

maybe my eyes are just playin tricks but i thought i saw you smoking =\

  • wtf are you smoking crack?, yea he takes a drag of a smoke at the end oh no who cares

  • great drumming by the way ..

  • i can see the future in his head......

    ITS MR CLEANNNNNNNNNNNNN

  • nyc name...^^

  • base is sometimes a bit sloppy but all in all great work . maybe u should losen your base a bit

  • what drum set is that?

  • Looks like a Yamaha DTXPress 4 Special Edition with another drum pad as the 4th tom.

  • amazing job

  • Danny Carey would be very proud:) and plus im getting the same electric kit as urs lol:)......rock on dude:)

  • Simply godlike Mr. Shineyhead.

    *****

  • hey i have those headphones i think

  • That was great. By anychance did you wrote the partiture for this song?, if so, could you send it me? it would be awesome.

  • hahah my name is nico!

  • What was your module, drums pads, and was that a custom cage?

I am guessing those are some V cymbals on top. Can't tell..

  • lmfao i cant stop watching this it is very well done :-P

  • nice

  • Alright danny, why have you shaved your head?

  • nice man

  • great stuff...your hi hats are soo hi up

  • Good job man, but you're missing some details. Around 4:39, you gotta have the 5 different toms to scale up with, and at the end the same thing. He's hitting 5 notes of toms that you got to get in order for the song to be the best.

  • That was some awesome work there man, I really enjoyed watchin that, it looked like you played it effortlessly haha, awesome!

  • hey man excellent drumming, how much was that kit and what is it?

  • well done
