Je hoort het verschil heel erg tussen nummers die origineel engels zijn en die vertaald zijn. Meestal vind ik de engelse versie mooier (dat is ook vaak het origineel) maar in dit geval vind ik toch het origineel of de nederlandse versie mooier. Pia's stem komt ook beter uit in het duits of nederlands dan in het engels.

@boyofletch I agree in that it is more 'decisive' and has 'more punch' in German, yet this translation is kinda sweet. It's relateable both to the story and also to everyday live (mine anyway *lol*)...it's a much softer and different version. Puts a different angle on the musical <3

normally i almost never prefer german (my mother tounge) because it's to hard and like the softer english better

but in this case german fits better BECAUSE it's harder ... it just suits the song better and the message of the song is somehow clearer

In the German version she sings exactly the same as in the Dutch version. Just so you know. Except in German the song is called I belong only to me (Ich gehör nur mir) and in Dutch it's My life is mine (Mijn leven is van mij)

Ja, der Niederländische ist wörtlich übersetzt aus dem Deutschen. Pia ist auch sehr gut auf Niederländisch, Deutsch und Englisch...

The newer translation is so much better - shame they still haven't fixed the last verse which is still terrible :O(
