Do ATF agents take an oath? If so do they swear to defend the US Constitution? Because there is this little amendment pretty near the top of the list.........
Connecticut is crazy, I easily bought an LR308 with out a permit, now they making get one before i could own this little gem. ooh well, few more weeks and i would solve that problem.
How reliable is this overall? i think it's an awesome weapon. it's like having both a rifle and a handgun. but as far as ATI and GSG goes, i'm not too sure when comparing to Ruger or some other reputable company.
do you have to have a separate permit for the vertical grip or does the sbr paperwork cover it, and what type of idiot thought it was a good idea to say u cant have a vertical grip on a pistol?
How do people at the range know you have the licenses for something like that? Couldn't anyone just show up with a modified gun like this and claim they had a license?
I have an issue with the "credits" at the end if your video. I'm glad you included the disclaimer but the issue I have is this. We have a RIGHT under the constitution to own firearms not a privilege. That's what happens when someone is convicted of a felony. You lose your RIGHTS not privileges. Driving is a privilege firearm ownership is a RIGHT. Other than that great vid.
This one, a GSG-5 costs around 450 new, + 200 dollar tax stamp, + whatever cutting the barrel down or adding the stock would cost probably around 150.
@Kylef7735 At Budsgunshop the GSG-5PK (4.7" barrel) is around $350. You add in the $200 stamp but you don't need to cut anything down. Stocks are $50 - $100. It's more like $600 but if you spent $40 on 1000rds of plinking with your GSG instead of 1000 rds out of your AK or AR, you will save a couple hundred bucks a year on ammo.
@allbrosdjay different manufacturer, this one in .22 is german sports guns and the 9mm one is heckler and koch, just adding some info, don't want to be a know all or something
Nice build, I love it! I have the carbine version and have thought about picking up the PK and SBRing it, but I don't know if I really want to jump through all the ATF hoops.
I made my gsg-5p into an SBR and I think when ATI starts bringing in the 9mm versions I will build another but in the pk style. Nice work on your GSG-5PK though. Do you have a suppressor for yours yet? I'm still waiting on my transfer to go through on a Silencerco 22sparrow when I get it though I post a few vids.
since when were they making a 9mm version of the gsg5? they already make what is essentially a 9mm mp5 its just got an unshrouded barrel and a huge stock.
@Lonewolf6565 Check out ATI's website the model I was talking about that is not yet available in the US is the AT-94K (its in the pistol section), it is essentially an MP5k with out the hand guard. I believe the model you are referring to is the AT-94A2 which is a rifle and has the stock and 16 inch un-shrouded barrel you mentioned. Honestly I think either would be a blast to own.
Nice! I've been thinking of doing one of these for a while. How much of a pain was it to get the correct forms? For both the stock and grip? I'm thinking of doing this same thing, only with an HK UMP style folding stock(I'm sure you've seen it).
Ok here's a bit different of a question on the law.... I have a vertical grip on my S&W 15-22 it mounts directly to the 1913. If I pick up this GSG 5-PK am I going to have any issues because I have a rifle with a grip "that could, theoretically down a mineshaft through a space warp" be removed from the other rifle and could be mounted on the PK? I will not be adding any 1913 rail to the PK so it would be kind of hard to put a grip on, unless I used Duct Tape(tm). Thoughts????
nice, i love the the look of the pk with that grip and the retractable stock. wish the sbr crap didn't exist or i would have one instead of the carbine model.
Well if you don't want to go through all the red tape to instal a front pistol grip, you could always do what the other guy did in his GSG-5PK vid and use the 22 round mag as a pistol grip. Was kind of funny to see that. Fun gun though I'm sure.
but where did u find the vertical grip for it?...i already paid my $200.00 for my SBR, and put a gemtech outback 2 silencer on it. but can't find that grip that fits
The can in the video is a faux Mac-10 can with 1/2x28tpi threading for the adaptor. I like it because it's nice and fat and rounds out the front end nicely--if I do suppress this gun I may go with a Gemtech 5.56 can over a dedicated .22LR can, I just like the look of a fatter suppressor.
so is it just a one time 200 dollar tax you need to pay and your good as long as you own the rifle??? or does it need to be renewed??? and also do you need one for each rifle you make into an sbr or is it a permit thing and you can do as many as you want???
If I get the form to upgrade to a folding stock and vertical grip and send it in will there be any issues or is this just a way of saying , Hey guys I got this done to my GSG 5 and just want to let you know for legal reasons. Just wanna know how trouble it will be so I can decide whther I wanna get the stuff or not. Only thing I got thus far is the handgaurd with rails which I just ordered. Also whats the best site to get this stuff?
You must submit the Form 1 and its associated fingerprint cards, photos, and compliance form with the $200 tax and WAIT for it to be returned in approved status BEFORE you can even purchase the components to build your SBR. Possession of the vertical grip and folding stock without an approved Form 1 is illegal. Once you get the Form 1 approved, you can pick up the accessories at Gunztuff[.]com
How long does it take and is it hard to get approved? Im assuming since I had to have the background check to even buy it that I shouldnt have any issues since It came back clean and I have a clean record. I guess Im just worried that Ill fill it out and send it in with $200 and they'll sit on it or take forever to send it back. LOL I know one thing. Its not worth it to get the stuff and not do what needs to be done. YIKES!
Nevermind. Just found out that the state Im in is one of 11 that bans these things period so it says. Not sure if I can get the stuff till I move to TN! LOL Maryland sucks. I have 2 sks's and you cant order 20 round mags for them anymore. I was able to buy mine legally online till that came to play in Feb 2009. Damn it! LOL But as far as laser , red dot, and tactical flashlight along with the railed handguard my gun is still leagel right?
Is it 200 for the vertical and 200 for the SPR folding stock? I HOPE one of them or both is the $5 stamp... how is a SBS (short barrel shotgun) only a $5 stamp? I would like to think SBRs should be the same... I love your videos, by the way... straight to the point.
Thanks for the kind words on the vids--more coming soon!
As far as the regs go: It's $200 to do an SBR, which allows you to add a stock and classify the pistol as a rifle, so you don't have to pay an additional $200 for the vertical grip. If you register the gun as an AOW for the same $200, you can only add the vertical grip, but no stock, since the gun would not be classified as a rifle. The transfer fee for a SBS or AOW is only $5, but $200 to transfer a SBR on a Form 4. Stick to the SBR.
May I ask where you purchased the "k-grip".. website? and is it one solid piece that replaces the stock forehand grip? or is it just the grip that either skrews on or clamps down to a forehand w/ a rail?
What a fun gun! I was eyeing a GSG-5 at the store the other day. I hope to make the jump into the SBR world soon. Thanks for doing your part to adhere to, and preach compliance to the law regarding SBR's. We can't give them an excuse to demonize gun owners any more then they already do.
Thanks for the kind words--I try to emphasize the importance of compliance, not only for those who don't know the law, but for those who do and choose to ignore it. You're right, we all have to do our part to protect the rights we do have, or we risk losing them. Keep educating your fellow shooters, whereever you may live . . . God bless ya!
Ummm . . . . I gotta agree with ya there man! At least get a real AK when there are decent Romanian guns priced below the GSG version. Part of the draw on the GSG-5 is that most of us can't afford a real HK--but most of us can definitely pony up the cash for an AK variant.
