great way to break your $500 CI board, lol. I jump in standing straight up with my board held parallel in front of me. Keeps your fins away from you, and you don't risk any pressure fractures on your board.

Added bonus of being ready to duck dive when you see that wave about to face rape you.

We do this all the time brah. Everyone does it, even the lifeguard training school makes every little guard go off the pier. Plus we have wetsuits on, so that takes nearly all of the sting away, should we flop.
