  • Hi Devon

You will go far...you have the mind of a young inventor...much the same as I was when I was your age some 50 years ago.... ......you are humble and understand that you can make a mistake...that is a gift from God .....a gift not many have...the Wright brothers invented the airplane making everything because the theories at that time were wrong and they proved them wrong and they had only 1 HIGH SCHOOL degree between the two of them

    NEVER QUIT KID!

    Best to you,Dan

  • next time, go outside and play with your video. Most importantly is MAKE MORE VIDEOS OF IT!

  • Awesome Job Devin!

  • I like the design, but to make it so that it doesn't tip over, make some type of stand that is attached to your burner and somehow clamps or locks to your wood board, i'm going to build one that you can put the fuel tank at a lower spot than the burner that is denatured alcohol fired.

  • and WHERE is the video of the FIRE!!?? haha

great vids.. i saw in the other one u love that lil whistle xD

  • That`s how humanity progressed :D

    Keep Trying and thanks !

  • Thats why you dont run it in the house dumbass

  • Good luck and keep tring. We have all had small fires with our steam engine.

  • Try to make the wicks out of some very fine steelwool.

  • the bigest qetion here is y would u not test it out side thats just like bluging somthing in with bar wires and geting elecricuted or u could reap electical tape just like u could have done that ouside

  • Good work kid. Stay at it.

  • where did u get your engine?

  • were can i get denatured alchohol

  • It is used in camping stoves, ocasionally. You can get it at a home improvement store in the paint thinner isle. They definently have it at home depot.

  • If you live in the "Nanny State" of UK you cannot: you might try to process it for drinking, which would deprive the State of tax revenue; you might drink it as it is and end up in A&E or dead; it might catch fire and burn you and your house down; you might turn it in to and explosive (though I'm not sure how). It is very cheap and simple to make, and I am guessing that is probably illegal too (in the UK). In the UK they are trying to ban knives with points... "Nanny State" --> "Police State"

  • I sniff meths!

  • Devin, young genius. Ah, the fires, the mess.

    Experience is the greatest teacher.

Your instructional videos will save other folks from a lot of grief.

  • is that not cool I like the Burner. I made Alcohol Burner but it made my Steam Engine on fire because somebooy put Alcohol on my boilled

  • could someone tell me where i can get a pre-built alcohol burner?... as i too have had alcohol burner mishaps except mine caused the alcohol inside to boil, then causing it to squirt out like a flamethrower. i think the way that rangerssteamtoys makes his burners is probably the only way to go but i just want to buy one.

  • there is no such thing as to big of a flame :)

  • I really like how you think!

  • Credit to you for an expert clean up job!

You need a hole in your cap for the burner, and you could do with some wick tube holders. It was a little big for that wilesco engine!

    Good try though :D

  • Thanks! I have since decided to buy a meths tray burner. I don't think that I will make another burner anytime soon... oh well.

  • This was educational. I also decided to buy prefab burners rather than try to design my own, after seeing your frightening experience.

  • I've had the same experience with homemade burners. frightening isn't it! I don't use them anymore.
