  • lol stock

  • right on my best to date was 14.27 at 96mph on a stock 90lx 5.0l. the timing cranked on 92 pump gas k and n drop in filter and holes in the mufflers

  • i know a guy that had a bone stock 5.0 5 speed mustang and he would run any where between 14.9-15.5and thats in colorado where elevation takes its tool pretty bad here

  • I HAD A 93 SHO.STOCK WITH A COLD AIR INTAKE.IT RAN 14:59 @ 97 MPH.IT WAS FUN!

  • this did help!! i have a 1965 mustang with a 5.0 mustang. it has a eldebrock 4bbl. carb, and a eldebrock intake and manifold. i was going to take it to my local strip, but its a little old and i dont want to break something.

    Thanks for making this video!!!

  • Im soon going to be buying a Foxbody, and the first thing im doing is unleashing the BEAUTIFUL sound they have with Headers, and full exhaust :)

Then of course intake, and internals.

  • But I don't think this car was complete stock! ;-)

  • @N20LT4 exhaust at least.

  • Yeah LT1's were atleast a half second faster than these out the box.

  • even though 215hp out of a big 302 motor seems a little out of date, these fox bodies still run better than half of the cars on the streets today

14.5 out of a 20+year old car........can't complain too much about that, given minor mods will cut the time drastically

  • @havinthangs55 225 h.p!

  • @camirocz

I think at the crank the only put out 215, but I might be mistaken, my friend dyno'd his 1990 gt and actually got a 210 hp rating, but I guess it depends on how upkept a car is

  • @havinthangs55 225hp..That's flywheel, obviously.

  • Nice run. I've seen stock LX Notches with weight reductions, slicks and a good driver get into low low 13's

  • not hating, 5.0L mustangs are pretty cool.. but 14.5? I thought these cars were fast...

and no, I'm not thinking about the newer 5.0L mustangs.

  • @dgk990 there not crazy fast stock...but very easy and cheap to mod..and very easy to get into the 13's with a fox

  • @dgk990

there not as fast as ppl think unless you change the gears for better aceleration then add new heads and intake and cam then you got a car

  • @dgk990 what do you call fast. Thats pretty quick to me. Rode in a 12-sec car once and it was like riding a RM 250 going through the gears.

  • Cool deal, I just bought a stock 5.0. I ain't gonna do much to it. Just a cam and exhaust.

  • I got 14.1 outta my stock motored 86 on slicks launching at 5000 rpm on a stock tranny. It is possible to break 13's with a stock mustang with some free upgrades(timing, weight, ect ect)

  • The exhaust sounds a bit loud for stock... but I'd guess the rest of it is stock. It seems to have stock gears. Most 5.0s ran a high 14. I have a Motor Trend magazine from 1990 and the 5.0 LX ran a 14.7. But the 1993s changed the motor a bit (tamer cam and no forged pistons) and has lower HP ratings. The Notchback Coupes have run down in the 14.1s bone stock, but they are a couple 100lbs lighter

  • there is no way that was "stock" i agree with gtdrummerdude stock 50s do not sound like that and do not cherp third think hes tryin to boost up his 50s image lol not hating just be honest clean stang tho

  • stock 5.0 mustangs run mid to high 14s .

  • @opticaltib

Not true, my pure stock 91' GT with a 5 speed ran 14.27. I bought it new and it was about 3 month old when I took it to the track.. The only thing I did was bump the timing to 15 degrees.

  • Not saying it's not possible on a perfect run with perfect conditions , just as a general rule mid to high 14s is the norm. Good driving ;)

  • @opticaltib My vote is more like high 14's/low 15's on average. Mid 14's comes with a solid pass. Don't see those numbers often.

  • nice numbers for a stock stang

  • thats not bad at al for a 5.0 simple mods will put it in the 13s

  • thx, thats good since mines not stock and i haven't dragged it yet :)

  • thers an article in 5,0 magazine a while back about putting a stock 5.0 in the 12s, they bought a decent one and did a few things like exhaust, gears mass air and took off the power steering and ac, and ran a 12.9 check it out if you wanna see how fast you can get a 5.0 without hardly doing anything to em

  • yeah i have that one,it was the december 2008 issue,"buget blast" was a staff members car an 89 LX 5.0,pretty amazing what u can do with a stock 5.0,iv got a '90 lx with a 4 cyl that im swaping a stock rebuilt 5L into.

  • @903aaron903 Its not stock if it requires modifications.

  • So what are the specifics of this pass? What was your 60 foot time and your exact 1/4 mile ET (14.xxx) and what was your 1/4 mile speed? Sounded like you had exhaust and you squeeked third gear. Is it really stock? Also, what track was this?

  • Also, kinda funny you mention the mustang beating me if it hooks. On my best run of 14.4@97 i ran a 5.0 hatch back. He ran a 14.6. No idea on his mods other than he for sure had an exhaust. So much for your theory.

  • Also, they are faster stock for stock than 94-98 mustang GT's. I've seen foxbodys run all kinds of different times so i cant speak for those. 99-04 mustang GT's run right around 14 flat-low 14 with 260hp. Dunno why its so hard for u to phathom a 240hp car running a mid 14. Any 93+ v8 camaro/firebird running mid-high 14's should be ashamed of their car so no reason to mention a GTP along side them.

  • thanks for the comment brother! i didnt have the numbers to prove it, but anyways, nothing to prove it i enjoy my 5.0 a lot, i had i new video with the mods that im doing... im going on high 1'2's already.

  • but thats not bone stock like you claim

  • whats all done to it now cause i have a 92 mustang lx with a built 302 pushing 360 to the wheels and im trying to get a hint of what its going to run if it hooks

  • Pitbellzer, like i said i own a stock GTP. I have made 13 track passes all ranging from 14.4-14.9 at 93-97mph. I have the slips, showing u them wouldn't prove anything. I have no way of proving my mods ( or lack there of). Just because you own a modded mustang that runs low 14's doesnt prove anything about what my car runs. With 240hp/280tq and around 3500lbs mid-high 14's is right where it should be if you wanna talk numbers. So u go do math.

  • You Freekin idiots with your Grand Prix! The fastest recorded time for any Grand Prix was 14.9 in the 1/4 mile and thats at perfect conditions. Just go to C&D or 0-60 times all cars and look. If a 5.0 hooked against the fastest Grand Prix made stock for stock it would look ridicules. Sorry Prix guys just facts lol.

  • Pitbellzer you don't know what you're talking about. Just because c&d ran a 14.9 doesnt mean all gtp's do. GTP's average mid-high 14's stock. low 15's with a bad driver. I own a GTP, i ran at the track with just an intake, i have the slip to show what i ran. An intake doesn't account for 5 tenths. Another GTP that was stock was at the track that day too, he ran consistent 14.6-7's.

  • Rob..Everyone on this earth has been in a Gtp. Its not just C$D its MT and just google it and look for yourself. They are not a 'Sport Class'. They are fast for a Sport Sedan but NOT A MID HIGH 14 CAR.. If they were they would be mentioned on side Camaro, Mustang, Firebird.....

Show your Mods and your slip... I have a 93 GT with 92 Motor swap, 3.73 Gears, CAI, BBK Headers, Full exhaust (No Cats), Short Throw and I pull low 14's witch is right on the money for the Mods I have. Go do math lol...

  • Also, what was your 60ft on this run? Just curious.

  • Yea 14.5 is about what ur grand prix should run, assuming we are talking GTP/ 06+ GT. Ran a 14.4@97 with just an intake.

Nice run with the stang, sounds like a pretty good time for a stock 5.0.

  • not bad. Thats what my grand prix will probably do stock

  • sweet run bro, what was your trap?

  • 14.5? Very nice, these cars are tricky as hell to launch stock. You should be proud, that's damn good driving!

  • yeah !!!i have a 93 lx 5.0l and its not easy to launch perfectly...REALY not!!! GOD, PLEASE!!!GIVE ME SOME SLICKS!!heheheh

  • yeah but with slicks your gonna need a drive shaft loop to pass tech

  • nice run.. I have a bone stock 91 gt 5.0..

  • Not bad.

  • hmm doesn't sound like stock exhaust though. Good run. Best for me is 14.62 @ 96 with my 87 gt. How did you launch it?

  • WHAAAAAAAT ?

    14.5s without any mods ?

thats why I love foxbody ´stangs ... they don´t need TURBO kits and light body mods to get a fast quarter mile time.

  • Very nice! I was running 14.6's with my '89 GT and was happy. You must have gotten lucky and bought one with the 3:08 rear end!

  • I'm going this saturday to the drags. I have a 1982 LX 5.0 with the 4 speed SROD trans. First and second are good but third is 1:1 just like the T5's fourth gear, it's a big drop. I ran 15.29 @ 91 stock with cast-iron exhaust manifolds and a single 2.25" pipe. Now I can drive better, have a better tune on the car, have shorty headers, full 2.25" exhaust with no cats, UD pulleys, and MSD ignition. I'm on street tires. What do you think I can expect to run? Car weighs 2920 confirmed

  • @gtdrummerdude 13.89???...u had to have ran this thing by now lol

  • @AlSaliari Last time out the car went 13.25 @ 105 mph on 205/65-15 economy tires. Since then I have picked up 10 rwhp with a jetting change and reduced my wind drag be replacing my '82 GT hood with a '79 pace car cowl hood and also making headlight covers to cover those big gaping headlight pockets the '79 - '86 Mustangs had. I also modified the carburetor slightly but have no dyno numbers on that yet. Car should be in the 12s now, on STREET tires.
