  • Truly one of the best movies ever made

  • Dustin Hoffman truly is the very definition of a great actor.

  • Joe buck: I ain't a for real cowboy but I am one hell of a stud!

Reiko: Then how come you aint scored once the whole time you've been in Newyork?

Joe buck: CAUSE I NEED MANAGEMENT DAMMIT!

    Me: lol funny shit hea

  • @BlazingKnives Theres a lot of funny moments in this film -- Its a brutal movie no doubt about it. But there is a lot of humor in it too.

  • @tedcantu1 lol Yeah Its rare to see these kind of movies anymore. I even made a beat sampling from this trailer. This really looks like a good movie

  • Talk about a movie that doesnt stand the test of time... I watched this last night on the late show and its just plain awful... it was apparent that the counter culture was in full effect trying to push its agenda with drug use, homo sexuality and language instead of focusing on a plot. great title for a movie,, but thats about it.

  • @flycentro123 Learn to spell homosexuality. It's ONE word. Like moron.

  • @BaboonLoveMonkey Fuck you , its a youtube comment section not an english test.. you fag..

  • @flycentro123 Hell of a good thing for you that it isn't :-D And oh no! Did you call me a "fag"? *gasp* You sad little child - only someone as insecure and stupid as you considers such childishness hurtful.

  • @flycentro123 to think that a movie that address the nihlistic times we live in and the coldness of modern society , doesn't "stand the test of time" is a simplistict view and a naive one. how old are you and how far did you get in school?

  • @flycentro123 Your an idiot, I doubt you even saw the film... the film was not about "counter culture" it was just one scene... as far as the homosexuality, the Joe Buck charactor was a male hooker, and a few of his clients were gay. the film is about an unlikely friendship. Now go back and watch your "Three Stooges" marathon on amc!

  • Was there ever an original trailer for this film?

  • I think the reason it was rated "X" was for the scene where Joe Buck was getting his cock sucked by a Fag, at a peep show. I guess?

  • @DickCabeza123 Nobody was ready for that scene. I remember reading a book about how Joe Buck questioned his sexuality because the young man turned him on. That "Young Man" was Paul Jabara who wrote "Last Dance" for Donna Summer that was in that Disco Movie "Thank God It's Friday" that won The Oscar in 1979 beating out "Hopelessly Devoted To You" by Olivia Newton John from Grease. Joe Buck meant well but he was so Stupid. I think that's what made him so appealing.

  • @DickCabeza123 That was hot...until the kid got sick. I wouldn't have.

  • @davidls11 What the Fuck??

  • @DickCabeza123 Just saying that John Voight was pretty hot back then...even if he was a little old to be a hustler.

  • What the Fuck??

  • @DickCabeza123 You're repeating yourself.

  • @davidls11 What the Fuck?

  • Dustin Hoffman has never been more similar to Al Pacino XD

  • who's the liza lookalike at 1:32 ?

  • Comment removed

  • how? how does this get an x rating?

  • @SHiTJuFro743 Back then, X didn't necessarily mean porn. It just meant DON'T bring your kids to watch it. Unlike R where kids MUST be with their parents or someone over 18.

  • @SHiTJuFro743 They were worried it would influence kids to turn gay. I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP.

  • Midnight Cowboy is the only book I've ever read that made me cry. I'm not brave enough to make it to the end of the movie.

  • Rated X in 1969!

One has to enjoy it for the context of its time.

  • Loved the theme to this film, I loved the way it kept repeating the Harry Nillson song because it works so well with every scene.

  • one of the greatest films ive seen,i think some of the comments about it being overated are wrong,if anything it hasnt aged well to todays films, but the story is immense of 2 people finding each other in life.

  • This movie sucks and is very overrated, even if you take era into consideration. A 2 hour snooze fest. I'm so bored with it as I'm watching it now that I had to come online and comment here about it.

  • @OpinionatedJerk interesting.......

  • @OpinionatedJerk Kid, what's your favourite movie?

  • @FetaCheese222

    The Beach

  • @OpinionatedJerk Thank you. I rest my case.

  • @FetaCheese222

Yeah like I totally didn't see that type of reply coming from you.... A lesser person than me would have told you The Godfather or Lawrence of Arabia just to avoid that type of reply. There's a difference between "favorite" and "well made" movies. This movie here is neither of which to me.

  • @OpinionatedJerk Hey, that's cool. I was only joking. Relax. I don't care if your favourite movie is Battlefield Earth.

  • Que buenas peliculas se hacian antes.

  • i wanted to see this movie and when i was watching my mom said it would scar me for life like clockwork orange did

i still wanna see it because if i can sit through BOTH a Surbian film AND the human centipede i think ive enough shit that this wont phase me

besides its a movie what could it have that would fuck me up

  • @theguy00000000000000 Really, there's nothing scaring in MIdnight Cowboy. Maybe some buttshots, and sex scenes where you don't really see anything. It's Mickey Mouse compared to A Clockwork Orange.

  • This is the most heartbreaking, magnificent film. For those of you who have not seen it, DO. It changed my life.

  • This was the time when big bosses in Hollywood decided to invest in young filmmakers and directors' artistic freedom was something else compared to the Hollywood that came in place after that short period. Imagine how many great American movies haven't been made because film isn't an art form but a business. There are now only huge Hollywood productions and tiny Indie films. Midnight Cowboy couldn't have been made without money, neither without the artistic freedom.

  • Where's that Joe Buck?

  • Hoffman's a beast.

  • Can anyone tell me the story line in one paragraph (Without spoiler)? I am really interested in watching this movie.

  • @mbilalbhatti A man goes to New York to become a jiggalo, Things dont work out, nobody wants to sleep with him, he gets mixed up with Ratso and things turn bad! Its one of the greatest movies ever, watch it!

  • @shawndimery Thanks Shawn. Its on download now ;)

  • This film is reminiscent of "Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck.

  • "Everybodys talking at me, i dont understand a word they saying, only the echoes of my mind" haha this film is a master piece! For those who have yet to see this film, WATCH IT, Hoffman and joe Buck what a team loll

  • I hug many of my friends, guys and girls and am not even CLOSE to being gay! There's nothing wrong with loving my friends =)

  • @DenimZero dont give it away for people who havent seen it :P

  • To me the Greatest actor ever, Dustin Hoffman!!

  • The greatest actor ever for me Dustin Hoffin!!

  • thebizkit69u: of course it's outdated - it's from the 60's! But that's what makes it great - a snapshot of the era. I agree the relationship between the two is beautiful, and I defy anyone not to cry at the end of this movie: it's all in Jon Voight's eyes at the end as he sits with the dead Hoffman beside him......

  • I know many people don't feel the same but I honestly think the movie is extremely outdated and I had trouble enjoying the film as a whole. That being said the performances by Hoffman and Voight are classic, the relationship between the two in the movie is what really made an impact but the rest of the movie is just lost on me, I guess one would have to have lived during the late 60's to really connect but the movie was just a jumbled incoherent mess IMO.

  • This is not the original 1969 trailer; it is from the 1994 (25th anniversary) re-release.

  • It's hard to pick a favourite film, but this is probably it for me ...

  • What a depressing movie. Need to see it again though but I remember when first watching it, by the end I was pretty bummed out. Great cinema

  • The MPAA must have been pretty sensitive in 1969. Nowadays this movie is more like a mild R, more for thematic elements than language and nudity.

  • @ReechReynolds well actually it used to be pretty simple. R for showing tits and X if two people screwed. and XXX just meant porn. They decided to get rid of X after pressure from theater owners saying it was killing sales. The public agreed mild sex is no biggie and wala.. the new standardized cinema ratings were born

  • yeah.. wheres that joe buck

  • name of the song at the begining?

  • what happens when they know you can't walk anymore?

  • This isn't the 1969 trailer. It's the trailer for the 1994 rerelease.

  • the only X rated film to win Best Picture

  • GREAT MOVIE 5 STARS !! BRENDA VACCARO? VERY HOT.!!

  • Masterpiece!!!!!!!!!

  • could anyone tell me the harmonica song in the begining of this trailer? it's amazing. thanks in advance,..

  • @Lgg130

Usually goes under the name of "Midnight Cowboy Theme Song"

  • @HuntiPunti lol I didn't even remember to search the soundtrack.. you're right it was obvious ;) John Barry none other... Many Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • Il like to know why today there arent movies like this, only rubbish like avatar or even worst, the cinema was better in 60 and 70, i would like to born in that time

  • @CARLOSGURO stop watching blockbusters then. you can find lot's of cool movies from nowadays...

  • @CARLOSGURO

There are... you just have to know where to find them.

  • This film hijacked my life, everything in my life goes back to Midnight Cowboy now.

  • For anybody who moved to a big city alone, with slight delusions...

  • Where's that Joe Buck !!! Great film.Yes the fim is sad i guess but Dustin Hoffman had me laughing.Especially the way he talked.

  • now i know whee "back to the future 2" got that saying from...im walking here im walking here

  • "You know what you can do with them dishes"

  • Poor Enrico "Ratso" Rizzo, when he died on the bus, I was choking back the tears.

  • wich is the name of thesong at the end ?

  • @jorgegraves 1:51 "Everybody's talkin' " sung by NILSSON

  • 40+ years later, still has more balls and style than any other turd of a movie that comes out nowadays

  • @Wildcock23 Well said.

  • great film

  • why is this rating X?

  • @Sind3r3lla175 There was a very brief time in the MPAA when they created an X rating for movies not for children. However, it was never copyrighted so within a few years the porn industry came about and used X and XXX for all their films. Thus, the MPAA dropped it completely and later it was replaced with NC-17. (No Children under 17)

  • Anjolina, may not have spellled your name right, how could you not be proud of your dad? I hope someone reads these things for you, I;m sure you don't have the time, but you only have 1 dad. Me too. I would DIE if I lost him. Grow up girl, talk to your dad!

  • @TheMustangsally75 Yup, that's Angelina Jolie's dad.

Neither you nor I know the full story about them nor are we in any position to judge Angelina's relation (or lack thereof) to her dad.

    Ever read "Mommy Dearest"?

    P.S. Great movie!

  • A truely great piece of American cinema, Its such a shame they dont make em like this anymore :(

    Great memories

    thanx for sharing :)

  • it's going to play at the Hollywood forever cemetery 6/26/10 !!!!

  • is this the original trailer? i think this is a 1980's reissue.

  • im walkin here, im walkin here

  • Cinema masterpiece and groundbreaking for its time. Brilliant performances by Voight and Hoffman. A masterful craft of directing.

  • John Voight is My Midnight-COWboy_Man !!!

    THIS Movie Makes Me SAD....

  • i can't believe it was X rated. i really enjoyed dustin hoffman's performance (as i do all his performances) but i think it's fantastic that the cab scene was unscripted.

  • Great movie with great actors and wow pictures! I love him!

  • i agreed

  • I was so inspired by this film.

  • They say this is the only X rated film to win best picture but X back then is like a Hard R.

  • one of the greatest films ever. 'i'm walking here' wasnt planned, hoffman really almost got run over

  • Comment removed

  • my fave movie of all time

  • sad movie

  • im walking here, awsome flik, check out panic in needle park pachino's 1st i think

  • I love this movie

  • I hope your kidding.

  • @furmountain21

    indeed I am

  • damn. brenda vaccaro was hot

  • lets not forget sylvia miles.

you think you can come up here and pull this shit up here. watta ya think i am, some slut on 42nd street

  • daamn, this was on tv a few weeks ago, and i watched everybody loves raymond or something instead...mistake!

  • Not bad, not bad.........for a cowboy. ;)

  • ive seen this movie last nite i got so depressed and it was freaky i couldnt stop crying from the end it was very good no spoilers it deserved an oscar for best picture!

  • This movie will reduce even the hardest heart to tears.

  • agreed

  • @goback3spaces Damn, that is true. I was blubbering like a baby the first time I saw it. Jon Voight , Dustin Hoffman, and Director, John Schlesinger, did an aces job on this film.

  • @goback3spaces i've held myself off from watching this far too long now. i know its good from what i've heard. where's the best place to get it legit?

  • @hell4raizer Well, you could always buy or rent it on DVD. Try Netflix.

  • Bizarre. Bold. Heart-breaking. depressing. brilliant. sorta like a tale of two cities as far as story goes. Great soundtrack!

  • is this movie worth 2 buy?

  • two words

    Fuck and Yeah

    Best oscar movie ever.

  • Oh, nice spoiler! You shouldn't tell people stuff like that. Oh well.

  • Maybe the saddest movie I've ever seen. But it's redeemed by the delicate sympathy it shows for Joe and Ratso... it says something real and painful and wonderful about the human condition. Joe finds a friend in Ratso, the first real friend he ever had. Just typing these words makes me want to cry.

  • What's the harmonica song at the beginning?

  • It's just called "Midnight Cowboy" by John Barry. I believe it won a Grammy for Best Movie Score.

  • Amazing movie! holds up great, but very depressing

  • one of the best movies ever!

  • A melhor performance de Dustin Hoffman e Jon Voight. Sensível, tocante e inesquecível. Pena que abandonado pela TV aberta.

  • It wasn't that bad to be an X film. Other films are a million times worse.

  • I guess bad for the time it was mad, huh? Though I haven't seen it yet.

  • you should, its great

  • 0:40 I'm walkin' here!

  • wasn't this the first film to

    carry the MPAA's Rated X?

  • No, but it was the first and only X-Rated film to win the academy award for best picture.

  • the best movie

  • see, back then they could make movies about two guys who were friends and straight. now every movie like that has gay guys! cant they realize that straight guys can be friends?

  • Straight guys being friends are afraid of touching etc.. Monogamy can be a wonderful thing for many people. Artists have realized it, that's why they make the movies that way. I wish I could be in love with all my friends and sleep with them all, both boys and girls. People think that if you say that you are either a hippie or a creep. The problem is the people who judge, not the judged. Who's team are you on, hating or loving?

  • Oh..thank you for posting. I never saw the trailer, was too young. But I remember this film. I remember hearing promos on the radio on WABC for it. Brought tears to my eyes....

  • immenso

  • GREAT MOVIE, with great actors!

Hoffmans performance is absolutely world class.

  • i'm walking here! i'm walking here!!

  • A beautiful film.

  • One of the best films from the 1960s. A film that no studio would film in todays climate.
