The key doctrines of Islam are easily and in fact are interpreted as carte blanche to deal 'harshly' with non-Muslims, to regard non-Muslims as 'lesser' people on the 'wrong path' and 'unacceptable' to Allah. Until I started investigating Islam a year or so ago, I knew little of it but that Muslim peoples had once contributed greatly to science and mathematics, the beauty of Islamic architecture, that Mohammed was their prophet and Mecca their holiest shrine. Its ugly underbelly is, I'm sorry to say, something it works hard to hide but this too will be exposed to the light. The truth is not blasphemous.
