  • wakakakakk.....it's funny.....

  • who won

  • Lol super sucker powers activate!

  • the pleco dominated

  • my goldfish did that to my gold loach, little fucker(goldfish) almost killed my loach, i was so tempted to fluch the goldfish >:O

anyway, nice pick of music :)

  • Quite a match! I have seen pleco vs pleco fights on my own tank, but never seen fight with catfish. Smaller pleco ruled the catfish 6-0. Tough guys!

  • hah just got my 1st pleco today, glad it won in this fight!

  • Kinda a lose/lose battle. Catfish cant do much damage because of plecos armored scales, And plecos mouth is pretty rough but useless when it comes to bites.

  • oooooo

  • lol the one fish just wants to clean the cat fish :) im going to need a few of those cleaners after i put my 3 fighting fish into one fish bowl :)

  • No. This is not the case. Do some research before posting a dumb response.

  • daaaaamn it was messy

  • - It's quite common for them to act this way, it's known that synodontis are agressive when they grow older, usualy males in this specie whants to be the boss of the tank.

    - This is the way they fight..they push and hit each other.

  • I also have aggresive plecos. I have one that attacks a peacock bass. The bass is so scared of him.

  • they r fighting because one of them invaded the other's territory. runs all over the catfish family

  • fish do it...their are very terriotial depending on how you take care of them

  • well maybe the pleco is trying to clean the catfish, you know like those cleaning shrimps? They dont look like they're fighting :P

  • the catfish is an Eupterus or a Featherfin Synodontis.

  • I have these two fish together in a community aquarium with lots of other fish and they get along fine.

  • The 1:42-1:43 is not true.Well...at least it shoudn't be

  • how could the pleco fight with that mouth :D suck its opponent up!!!

  • the black intends to mate

  • hmmmm....i just learned tday......pleco is in the catfish family too :P they r catfishes tooo!!!!

  • Yep, technically same family, looks like a sibling rivalry doesn't it? Pleco and Catfish are basically the distinguishing names that I have for them, I know, highly creative... ;)

  • exactly

  • Nicely put together video!

That is a Synodontis eupterus, right?

I've seen both of these species go at it before, not your usual combatants.

I slapped this vid on my website to share with other fish folk. We like this unusual and interesting fish behavior type stuff.

  • well i can't tell you whats wrong but i can say the music if great

  • love the tune who is it?

  • "Love Brother" by Errol Dunkley

  • I had this same situation once. LOL! Nice video though. :)

  • Oops! I replied to the below comment while logged into my other account! Sorry for the confusion, but just to let you know, the two fish in this video have been separated and are both alive and well in different tanks. Thanks for the concern. ;)

  • That catfish is absolutely stunning!

  • Thank you! I think so too... I recently had to he-home one of the fish (this fighting started back up) and I chose the pleco to go because I couldn't part with the catfish.

  • Oh that's too bad :/. How big was the tank you kept them in? Cause I was thinking of maybe buying a catfish like that ( Is it a featherfin sydonotis?)but I all reday have a pleco o.O

  • its funny how the only thing the pleco can do is suck on the catfish..hehe!

  • i think there having sex. and the plecco is winning! lol

  • What??!! LOL

  • Hahaha X'DDDD

  • Funny!! Iv got two plecostomus in my fish tank, they always fight together. Come and see my video's

  • As it turns out, this was an isolated incident... This behavior has never repeated itself; this video is over a year old. Although the fight seems brutal, I inspected the fish after for injury and found that they had not hurt each other to any great length. Believe me though, if it were to start happening regularly, I would re-home one of the offenders.

  • the other fish i think is a "leather catfish" thats wot they are sold as in australia

  • I am quite good with fish it means catfish wants some time on its own about two days in a different tank on its own should do hope I helped

  • Thank you! Although since this day I videotaped the fish last year, there has never been a repeat performance to anything near the same extent, but your tip is one I have not heard, but it sounds good so I will give it a try.

  • ur welcome

  • Hilarious....

  • wow.great vid and music..

  • I can't bear to watch this brutality. Free Micheal Vick and lock up all the fish fighters of the world....

  • I have a pleco...

    Its huge!

  • plecos normally wont bother other fishes unless it is being bothered.

  • ive got one of each of those althought their alot smaller im hoping they wont fight

  • lol they just in love

  • Thats wierd ive never seen plecos that agressive either, like you said he bumps into other fish but never acts like that. Somebody must have taken the other ones algae wafer... lol

Can I ask what that active fish swimming at the top are?

  • Those are giant danios

  • esox66 is right, they are giant danios. I really recommend them if you want a more exciting community. I got six of them over a year ago and thy have been very hearty, and kind of notched up the general activity in the tank. Make sure they have enough room, they are fast swimmers and like a stronger current in the tank so I put my filter on a higher setting for them.

  • It's gotta be a territory thing then.

  • Same happened to me, the exact two same species, a common plec and Synodontis eupterus. Lived together for years until suddenly the syno started beating the plec up. Had to rehome the plec, and I got the syno a bigger tank.

  • All I can say is maybe try getting a bigger tank. How big is your tank btw?

  • 46 gallons

  • There is not enough food in the tank for the both of them and there territory has grown so they fight over it.

  • I feed these guys algae disks daily... They seem to really dig them. :)

  • do plecos eat plants

  • lol 2 hours later

  • I actually am not suprised thier fighting. Its quite clear when two different species get together this sorta thing is bound to happen in the limited space they are in. The catfish is from india or some asiatic region. The pleco is from south america. The point here is two species from opposite sides of the world who have never co-existed before in the wild letalone a tank. My suggestions, the obvious, bigger tank or if you can't afford that more shelter i.e. hiding spots for these two.

  • lol whats the suckerfish gonna do, suck him to death?............that sounded disturbing

  • i have the same species of synodantis and a pleco of similar size in my oscar tank, the two often quarrel but have never truly "fought" i thought just my two fish were irritable! =D

  • i like plecos.. :D

  • i liek plecos to rune scape ruls

  • its is either a banjo catfish or an upside down catfish =D

  • u dont know anything about fish do u? The catfish is a Synodontis eupterus.

  • teehee, lol, pleko should have won

  • i think the catfish wants to fuck but the pleco doesnt want to

  • lol..its probably true.

  • lol go pleco go! suck off its skin and make manapua! love pleco adding to favs

  • cool vid .. i keep both these fish aswell apart from my plec is 15 inches and my cat about 8 they used to do this alot in the small tank now i have moved them in to the six foot on my vid they are at peace . it is just there is not enough bottom for them both to have some teratory these battles happen alot at night so stay up late one night leave the tank light off and watch

  • I thought they were being affectionate rather than fighting, but it might be a territorial dispute, have you moved anything around in the tank recently to make them feel less secure?

  • na pleco eats goldfish...mine does...

  • The pleco will win because he will suck off all the protective slim coating on the catfish ... it is a battle of bottom dwellers //////

  • ajajjaja

    exelente musica!!

  • lol at 1:24 the catfish was on its eye

  • thatwas awesome! lol

  • find a new home for the pleco and keep the cool catfish (^_-)

  • The Pleco is trying to get dirt off the catfish DUH.

  • holy crap i thought you were serious about this hole thing about fish fights.lol.i got stress out when one don't win.hope they won't get stressed out.what size is your tank?maybe that's why.next time duct tape razor blade on them.cool.

  • I had a chinese algea eater kill off my dragon goby.... lol he was like scapping off the skin of the goby lol and the goby was like 3x it's size. too bad i didn't film it =)

  • LOL! ALL PLECOS ARE CATFISH!

  • they look like they are makeing love :D

I have a pleco and i haven't seen him be volent like that but that may be because he is on his own with two gold fish so he has no one to fight.I've read on few websites that say plecos become gumpy as they get older, so that could be the reson.

Ive had my pleco about 6 months at least and hes doubled in size, ive read that they can grow up to a foot long but im not sure about that.

  • Yeah! That's true! I saw one big like you said! ( Sorry for my bad english )

  • horny fish... thought i saw it all

  • lol pleco versus catfish... theyr both catfish

  • watch ur pleco doesnt suck a whole into the catfish, could get infected

  • My clown pleco and brustlenosed pleco fight all the time, ive tried moving rocks and stuff around they still all fight

  • ahh thats a syno. eupterous.i have one also in a 55 gal malawi with a bunch of smaller syno petricola and some plecs.once and a great while he conflits with my green phantom and my sultan plec pleco and leaves my bristle nose alone.the main reason for this conliction is due to hiding places.they both dont have ebnough large spots for them each to hide.i fixed that in my tank by changing around my stone structure.

  • I don't think they are fighting..think they are just cleaning each other! =P

  • ditto

  • HAHAHAHA...its funny how the only thing the pleco can do is suck on the catfish..hah

  • lol, those fish are awsome, their like pets like a cat or dog :P, i agree, this video was perfect. The music and video together was perfect.

  • LOL they look like an old married couple. my old pleco used to fight with my apple snail all the time.... those were the days.

  • Hit em....Hit em again!!!

  • i thought that was a great video

just abit of a tumble thats all

nice plec , nice catfish . nice friends

  • Seriously guys!! this is great!! I like the soundtrack too. it fits perfect.

That pleco makes me laugh so hard, now i even laugh when I look at my plecos.

    Thank you for this video.

  • lmao, this vid is great! Funny how the pleco keeps sucking on it! So that's how they live everyday huh?!

  • This is very rare behavior although they have a bit of an ongoing rivelry, this was the only time in the couple of years that they went off like this... I think I agree with beadazzle51, that they were just expressing some love for each other lol...

  • How long did you have the Synodontis for and how big is it? It looks huge! Reason I'm asking is, I just bought 2 of them, each a different species of Synodontis and they are still small.

  • scotty, let's see, the catfish was about an inch and a half when purchased and grew quickly to about 3 inches in the first year... It is probably a bit over three years old and is now around 7 inches. It lives in a 46-gal tank and eats about 2 algae disks a day...

  • Hey!! this is one of the most hilarious fish vids i have seen here on Utube. LOLOLOL!! That pleco. He gave that catfish all he had!

  • i thought your video rocked great song too, keep up the good work

  • yo misterfoo6 bullhead catfish are pretty manageble and dont get to big

  • sweet, go pleco! my pleco fights a full grown crawfish for the inside of the skull in my tank, ill get some videos someday

  • kool, 2 types of catfishes. cory catfishes only get up to 3 inches as an adult....unless its another type that can grow bigger. i want a catfish but they grow too big. i want one that can grow up to under 10 inches

  • it doesn't look like either was harmed,so i'm betting it's a little rough housing or maybe they are in love hahaha
