You should probably indicate peahen instead of peacock. Cause I read peacock and thought "You can hold that heavy guy up?" Peacocks are heavy with those tails!

Yes, she is tame and this happened suddenly without any practice, it just happened and from that day she starting to do it. My pacocks dont attack, Emus are bigger birds some kind like ostriches
So did this take time or was did the peacock suddenly just eat from your hand? I have a baby peacock that just hatched (I own both mother and father), and I want to make him tame, sort of like a dog; approachable. Any suggestions?
@PirateJessicaandcats 'peacock' is interchangeable with 'peafowl' and they are both general terms despite the use of 'peacock' in reference to males. The term's use evolved due to cognitive semantics and the bird's cultural perception.

@EdgarRossal I've been thinking of starting to raise peacocks and wanted to get two white ones to start, but I'm not sure how or where to buy eggs or chicks...also, do you recommend buying the eggs and hatching them, or just buying them as chicks?? Any information would be greatly appreciated :)
Well, there are too many breeders in the US, dont know if you are there but you can check on internet and there are many than have eggs, chicks, juveniles and adults.

Another thing is that you have to wait 3 years to have a peacock with its tale if you start from a peachick.
White peacocks natality is low and starting as an amateur incubator the chances of succes are low. Whites are more delicate when chicks than the blues. If you notice, whenever you see a person having peacocks both colors, the population of whites is much more less than the blues and its due to the same reason. The place I bought my white male had like 250 whites compared to 1000 blues.
Well, its tre COOLTUBE, those of mine do the same but since I live in a quite area they dont loud a lot but I have also noticed that when they heard a loud sound the call after that.
Breeding season its the calling time, sometimes I get desperated, its almost all day long!!
The only thing is the calls they makes. My neighbor down the street has one and it cries every time it see someone, something, another bird called, train going pass, cars, kids, everything! If you heard peacock cries..
Well, I just have them wing clipped so they stay just at home in the garden. I didnt train this peahen to fly to me on command...it is just happened one day!
Yes! it is a peahen, actually a peachick hen. Peacocks are call peacocks in general but when talking about sexing we can say that this is a peahen. You are right! but at that age could have been a male too, until 1 year you can see if it is a hen or a cock in whites. Thanks for your post
No, they are white not an albino, but most commonly confused as albino, but it isnt. White peacocks have pigments in their eyes and Albino animals mostly have red or pink eyes
Yeah, I want to raise just a couple white Peafowl.. Not for a profit or anything, just as a hobby. I think they are sooo beautiful and remind me of weddings.
I've been looking up videos and trying to find people who raise peafowl because I think I might want to start. I was wondering if they are Loving birds, do they act like chickens and only come when being fed, or do they actually have compassion for their owners?
Well, raising peacocks it is just like raising chickens with little differences. Indian blue peacoks can stay put at home after some time of getting used to your property and surroundings. Java greens or common named as Green peacoks stray from home and they do not stay put at home
. About feeding, peacocks only need more protein intake in their diet since they are omnivorous. The rest its the same as chickens, same diseases as New Castle, etc.
During the mating season you just have to get used to their calls during day and sometimes night, this is the only drawback most people find but this is not perdonal case since i found those calls attractive.
If you are truly interested in starting raising peacocks you can add yourself to a yahoo group PEAFOWL. .

I wont buy eggs, too many risks in hatching them, you cannot know if they are gonna be males or females, then they cannot guaranteed you they will hatch, then starting with artificial incubation is a mess, you have to learn and practive in order to get success in that. Another thing is that you have to wait 3 years to have a peacock with its tale if you start from a peachick.

On my opinion I will suggest to buy juveniles, where you can choose a pair from the beginning and do not wait too long to be adults.
