Great sounding drums! Although theres minimal mics, which helps out tons too! Is your room acousticlly treated and how big is it? And how loud do you have the over head in the mix and how crucial do you find the over head in your mix?
@azombiestool Thanks! Well, the room is not treated whatsoever, however, it is a decent sounding room for not having any treatment, especially for drums. I love using overheads as my dominant sound, they are generally high hz friendly mics so they cut pretty well, then everything else gets brought up accordingly.
@camcampbell777 Stupid KSM? The kit sounds great through the KSM! What'chu talking about Willis?
I was wondering, how do you get your sticks hitting your snare rim to come through so clearly? Is it just being picked up through the KSM? And BTW, I dig the dampening of your snare, gives it a really fat sound. At first I was going to ask you if you tuned your snare a certain way to get it to sound so deep. Great recording on a budget, especially in a non-acoustically treated room.
@rootvalue It's really just positioning your overheads well over the kit. I wanted a lot of snare throught he ksm so I just angled it accordingly. The Sm7 picked it up a good bit too. And yeah the KSM mics are great for the money, just loving my new ones more haha. Thanks for all the kind words, appreciate it.
@UniqueDrumz Yeah it completely chokes the reonance of the drum, and drops the overall volume of the drum probably a couple db.. The beatles used to do it. Just gives you a cool fat sound, very 70's. It's not great for everything though, especially if the song has a lot of finesse ghost note type stuff in it.
If anyone has any ideas for a cover for me to do, I would do it. I'm too lazy to find the right song on my own ha.

Not sure what I love more, your face, your set-up, the beat, or how effortlessly you play the drums.
