Blender-How to model a cool Fantasy Sword

I've been watching quite some tutorials from you by now and I was wondering, how difficult is it actually to use Blender? So far I've only used it to import some kind of files, without editing them.

I'm not too bad in using Google SketchUp, (then again, it's an easy-to-use program) and I was wondering if it's possible to skip to Blender.

@AntharesProcyon Its the most intuitive, down n dirty, and practical mesh modelling tool out there for me at least. If you take a few weeks to watch tons of tutorials and learn blender, it will come quickly to you.

PS: I've heard it's possible to import and export sketchup--> blender and visa versa. Could you advice me to do or don't do that?

@AntharesProcyon the best way to import sketchup models in blender is to export it as a .obj in sketchup. If im not mistaken this requires the pro version of sketchup. And then go into blender and file>import>obj and browse to your file. I suggest using Blender 2.49 instead of the newest version, because it is easier to learn from. 2.5 is much more complex and hard to understand. here is a link to download blender 2.49

at 1:18 i tried pressing s>x but it still enlarged the entire thing and didnt just make it longer, i also tried pressing s>6 but that just made it 6 times bigger... help please

@UndeadGaming1337 you need to understand that s is size. x means to size on x axis. so press s and then x and then drag your mouse.
