  • I love that engine! The start process is really cool. I am surprised you can still buy the starter plugs (what are they called?). You might have already answered this, but where did you get this engine?

  • @AltRage

My grandfather called those plugs "punks."

  • @pleuresy Perfect name-- just like lighting off fireworks. Thank you!

  • i have identical engine to this but mine is in australia - made in coventry england 1938 and is called a uniporn h10 manufactured by porn & dunwoody , who still make stainless steel lifts.

It was sold new in tasmania taken to the west coast of aust. and then brought to the east coast. It was a generating plant when new.Is belived to be the first pressure injected impirial diesel of time.

  • What would this thing be used for??

  • its wheel of Fortune.

  • what makes that hollow knocking sound while it freewheels?

  • is there a turbo on that beast lol

  • why such a big fly wheel?

  • @1337bman needs it to keep spinning due to high compression and the fact that it's a hit & miss

  • @KrankieV2 no it isnt! its a throttle governed engine!

  • @angamoos eh.. looked to me like the valves weren't always moving

  • @KrankieV2 oh thats a normal camera effect! I know these engines quite well. they are 4 stroke TG compression ignition engines.

  • @angamoos ya learn something every day

  • @1337bman because this big fly wheel will be used on Wheel Of Fortune.

  • Nice sound ^_^

  • so wie ich es kenne mit

    zündfix

    schöner verdampfer

  • built to last.

  • So what was that tin can stuff all about?

  • oh, farmer bill coming angain :P

  • Sounds like a power stroke

  • Deep sound. Best

  • The knocking sound is normal? What piece is at 0:29?

  • I love this sound, amazing!!!

  • didnt have to flip me off dude

  • VERY COOL! THANKS FOR POSTING!

  • thats good throttle response lol

  • Sounds like she has a bit of bearing knock.

  • Attach those wheels to the engine and make that run off(only if you want to destroy something or destroy neighbors wall that you don't like)

  • german mechanical art in its best form, simple beautifull classic,,,, i want one too,,, thanks for posting. ernst.

  • Sweet

  • forgive me for being stupid, but what did you put in the cylinder?

  • What did you put in the cylinder at 0:27 ? A wick?

  • needs a 8 inch chrome stack

  • :-)

  • that sounds like a truck engine :P

why not build 6 of these together? :D

  • Im goin to put this on my Can-am 800 renegade

  • @bass3074

    LOL

I can hardly imagine. It weights 450 kg/

  • @stengine Dang my dream is ruined thanks alot lol jk

  • @stengine But for real i would have made it where you can drive the wagon that would be beast

  • @stengine But why didn't u put a extented straight pipe on that it would sound even better then

  • @bass3074 For sure it will be faster

  • is it pressure lubricated

  • @benrobinson72

Yes it is, the oil pump is inside.

  • @stengine cool

  • is it pressure lubracated

  • sounds like gas hammer

  • cool machine

  • where did you get that thing?

  • silent mode :)

  • how many HP hawe this engine

  • @fiilopunk

10 hp and a lot of torque !!!

  • That's a really good engine and a pleasure to see and hear in operation..

  • Continous banging sound is the diesel being combusted. Old diesel rattle, clatter and knock due to their design.

  • That would be beautiful music to sleep by

  • THAT is one nice sounding engine - well done.

  • very cool

  • What is that continuous banging sound? Please explain.

  • @Saranaprasadam

The ringing bang sound is the diesel combustion being

    amplified through the flywheels.

  • @Saranaprasadam the diesel knock when combusted thats the way the muffler makes it sound

  • @benrobinson72

The muffler is just a sibgle pipe

  • simple yet very effective, oh when things were good. Love it man

  • Wow!! My uncle just restored a Deutz D15 Tractor and it makes the same sound!! I bet it has the same engine, except it uses glow plug instead of this cotton plugs, and of course it has electric starter. Man, it is a great machine !!!

  • Comment removed

  • Hey,

Wanneer kunnen we dat prachtmachintje eens bewonderen???? (het liefst ergens in de buurt van Oafere!!!)

  • What are those things at 0:18? Are they like glow plugs or something?

  • It is a kind of glowplug. The sulfur on it can be compared with the brown-red head of a match. When it comes under compression it burns spontaniously. The engine starts and the plug glows maybe for 5 to 10 combustions. The engine has than the speed to run further on its own.

  • @stengine Thanks..

  • @stengine thats awesome

  • @stengine HAHA looks like cigarette butt

  • a sweet sounding yoke , compression and everything very tight sounding

  • I wish I could get my hands on one of these!

  • You can easily buy one of these in Holland or Germany. To get it home is harder.

  • poweredparagliding: You can. It's called a Ford Mondeo! lol

  • nice rebuild

  • german mechanical art in its best form, simple beautifull classic,,,, i want one too,,, thanks for posting. ernst.

  • what a glorious machine!! 5* and added to my favourites

    thanks for sharing!

  • That engine "sounds" FAR larger than it really is!!

  • thx now i understand what the fuse paper does

  • Tank you for reaction.

I always try to make a vid as clear as possible. So we aal can learn something.

The paper burns spontaniously when it comes under high compression.

  • @stengine i thought those were sulfur tainted saltpeter

    fuses

  • Those are called 'punks' here- engines like that are said to have punk start here.

  • @stengine what type of lubrication dose it have

  • wat is the white spongy thing for at beginning

  • I think you mean the fuse paper?

it's put into the cylinder and burns easier than the diesel oil, this lasts for the first few ignition cycles and gets the engine started easier on cold.

  • Beautifull machine and sound

  • Great video!

The old Deutz engines are very nice.

    5*!

  • love the sound a bit like a bell ring

  • Wonderful engine. I love the deep resonant sound of the exhaust!

  • Thank you for posting this. I always love seeing old machines cared for and I really have a soft spot for Diesel engines.

    Pure mechanical beauty.

  • "only 10HP?" it's not how many, it's what you do with them! If you need more torque, fit a smaller pulley, simple as!

  • Nice video of this engine. It has a soothing sound..

  • Sweet, this thing is cool! Nice video, thanks!

  • Can you still buy Zundfix? Thanks Stenengine

  • Yes we can, in different sizes 6, 7 8 mm etc. They cost 12,00 euros per 100.

  • That thing is a oil wick with some powder on it like on a match. Under compression it lights spontaneous. It helps to start the engine, I think it will help especcialy the first 10 combustions untill the engine has speed enough.

There is a handle that holds the inlet valve open. When turning the engine I hold that handle in place, I stop turning and then I release the handle so the inlet valve will close. Then the engine runs. When I don't do it this way there is a change of backfire.

  • It is a normal diesel engine 4-stroke, direct injection. The piston is horizontal.

  • Nice video! That thing you put in the engine, did you light that to warm up the intake air? While starting, your left hand was holding the exhaust valve open right?

Is this a premixed semi-diesel, or a 'proper' direct-injecting diesel? Thanks.
