You'll find the most popular content is already available, and if you have something specific that you track that isn't there, just add it and it will be added to the general catalog within a day -- perhaps sooner.
Millions of feeds? More like hundreds (if that). You can't just add any RSS feed you want and then read it right away, you have to wait for somebody to approve your submission before anything shows up. Program works great if the feeds you want are already in it's featured list, but if you plan on using it to get to custom feeds then forget it.
Most everything gets approved. The only things that don't are things like ebay/craigslist searches, personal flickr streams and stuff like that. The approval process is mostly there to keep adult content out.
What feed did you have denied? Maybe it was a mistake.
Denied isn't the problem, having to wait is. Why the hell should it matter if it's ebay/craigslist/adult? I should be able to subscribe to whatever I want to.
Feeds are approved within 24 hours of submission. And often times within an hour of submission.
As for (the few) feed restrictions, understand that we try to operate within cell phone carrier guidelines for bandwidth usage as well adult oriented content. It is not our goal to limit the content available in MyNewsroom -- quite the opposite really.
If I wanted censorship on my internet I'd move to PRC. The catalog description should say that users can "suggest" a feed to be added to their subscriptions.
The program itself is well designed and runs great, and I am a fan of trileet. My only gripe that it should be made clear in the catalog that feeds not in the directory have to be approved.
Ya, we are no fans of censorship either. Sadly, in order to put out great apps on your phone, we need to play by everyone else's rules. Still, with this tiny wart, MyNewsroom is still a killer app for the sidekick and in our opinion blows web browsing away on the phone.
Since its a subscription app, if you feel like its not a great deal, just discard it and stick to the browser.

Will this app still work if i have no web browser service or the data plan? Can the app be worked and used without having access to the web browser?
xdudex001 4 years ago
Nope, you need a qualified sidekick data plan to use any data services on the phone.
