I wonder if the gay-ish portrayal of the leads was intentional. If so, it adds an interesting layer of complication to their relationship. I've always been intrigued by how Sondheim's musicals allow for such a range of re-interpretation.
Not to mention that this cast did a great job--really convincing portrayals.
Great job, you guys. The femininity of the two male actors may throw off some of the audience, but overall this is a VERY challening (and underrated) show and you guys did a wonderful job -- GREAT harmonizing.
nice. i was worried when he started out with the second verse, but it worked. If that was an improv fix, phat kudos to all them. If not, it was probably better that way anyways.
probably one of the most under-rated musicals ever.
Hey Buddy. Check out the new fall issue of the Sondheim Review that just came out. There is a segment on this production. It's somewhere in the middle of the issue. The color photo on page 2 inside cover is a typo. That color photo is from another HS production somewhere. There is also a second typo (Beth Not BEN).
Ouch! My last comment came off way harsher than what I intended. You guys have done a beautiful job with this material. I was TRYING to say it's tough to do a show about regret when you're almost to young to HAVE any regrets. LOL. Thought I better clarify that. Cheers!
Such confidence in their presence and performance, and, unbelievably, it's HIGHSCHOOL!! The harmony, the orchestra, setting, lighting, just Brilliant. Thank you for this. You guys continually 'turn it out'.
bravo -- great job, and so enjoyable to see the piece sung by people at an age close to that of the characters in the show.

ALSO.. In paragraph 3, the show should be named "Zorba," not "Zorba the Greek." AND, I'd throw in a comma or two!

Serious? High school kids doing Merrily? Odd. What's next, Driving Miss Daisy?
