to do this: install Neogamma through WAD manager and use iOS250 (instead of 249). Then install custom iOS (ciosrev 14) under ios250. This worked for me!
I accidentally do it sometimes; all it does is re-write the 249 stub. But there's a very simple way around it, all you need is cios installer 38 rev 14 to re install the custom 249 again, through network installation. I keep it on my SD card just in case.
It freezes even when i try to install 250. Also when I try to run NeoGamma R8 It freezes as well. Is it because I already have the actual 4.2 version of the HB channel installed?

secondly to answer your question, unless you have a Korean or English turned Korean Wii, it won;t brick when you update to 4.2. The worst that will happen is if you have the homebrew channel, it will be removed. Also the update its telling you to get is only for the CD drive. I had to get it too, nothing else happened. I'm still at firmware 4.2.
@NemmyLadyZombie Yeah I got monster hunter tri to work since I loaded it through Gecko OS and it's working fine now :3 but I'm not so sure about trusting the CD updates.. are you sure there safe? what exactly would happen if I did the CD update?

If this doesn't work for you (Not Nemmy Others) Run Trucha Bug Restorer (Find a guide on youtube somewhere) once that finishes open any title deleter MOD and select IOS36 to use. Go to system files and delete the stub of IOS249. Now you are free to install rev14 use IOS36 to install it. Hope this helps any of you struggling!

XD and I'm not entirely sure what you mean, what do you need to be NTSC? The games you burn? If that is what you're referring to, no. It's favorable, but you can download and burn PAL games too and force region free. It doesn't work on all games but it does on most.

I had Homebrew & Gamma channel the other day & after connected to the internet it updated my 3.4 to 4.2 & I lost my channels. I had to use banner brew v2 in order to get the Homebrew channel back but there are NO applications.
When I tried using the Twilight Hack; it asks me if I want to Move, Copy or Erase I have tried Move/Copy but it says files may not have been copied which they were not.
On my homebrew station after I hit start all I see are bubbles. Do you know how I get the Gamma back?
Indeed, simply find Gamma on the internet, download it. and then place the file in the apps folder of your SD card, and it should appear in your Homebrew channel.
Another cool thing you could do to save you time, is to install it as a channel using wad manager, that way you don;t always have to go through HBC to get to it.

I'm using DVD - r discs (as suggested by most) and i still get a disc read error so how and on what equipment are you burning your discs

You don;t need a wad. The costum IOS installer has all the IOSes already, just choose one.
And, to reinstall your backup, when a Wii bricks, it just won't start up normally. If you have BootMii installed that will still work. Go in the back up option, next to it you will see the same image of the chip, but with the arrow pointing down, that means install backup.

I have NeoGamma Backup loader installed the same as you. same ios, same system menu 4.2u. When I load a burn game it plays, but the video is like all messed up. I think it might be a problem with my writing speed. I am using dvd-r. Ive only tried burning x2 on the -r and it messed up. My question is what writing speed did you guys use? I just dont want to waste another disk.

After fixing it, is it possible to purchase items from the Shop Channel (I know it seems redundant asking, but it's for the Wii Ambassador programme) or use it in general?
I think it's best that you don't use the Wii shop channel once you update. The good peoople at Wiibrew say to update wii shoop channel through them, that way you can still use it.
You burned the game at either too high or too low a speed. Try x4 first, as it is the most common. If that doesn't work, troubleshoot with x3 or x5 or x6.. if you downloaded the game via torrent, a readme file should be enclosed, which should always have the proper burn speed at which the game should be written.
if that doesn't work, your NewGamma is being a retard, which happens often. I suggest finding and downloading BackupLoader, it's far more reliable.

If your going to make a guide about hacking a Wii, make sure to fucking PROOF it afterward. Shit like that could have caused unlucky people's Wiis to brick. When we first did this guide, all 3 Packs on step 2 were not working. Hell, Pack 3 would just fuck my Wii up. We were lucky it didn't brick.
I didn't say we weren't grateful for their guide, but if it worked properly people like us wouldn't have had to make a video tutorial explaining how it worked.
hey i use to use backup loader channel 0.3 and i used ios36 when it had came out and then i updated to 4.2 when i update did it uninstall that or is it still installed would that cause it to freeze and not load (if so how do i uninstall the custom ios i first put on)

omg dude i did this in 20 minutes. all i did was update to 4.2, got the HBC and other files and hacked it. than i opened cIOS38r14 INSTALLER and got IOS250. after i did that i went to WAD Manager and installed NeoGamma to my wii menu in there it worked all within 20 minutes. if you forgot how u did it, well i just told u?????????????????/

Simple way out of that: re-download update 4.2. It will re-install the stubs, and you can once again attempt at re-writing them.

Most probably your writing speed. Try 4x, as that is what we used and is the standard writing speed for most discs.

oh, i did the wiihacks guide, B. didnt work, then C. didnt either. went back to B & now work! THANKS FOR THE HELP! i also have ios249 running homebrew browser, usbloader (plays burned games!) and a bunch more!

I think it's best that you don't use the Wii shop channel once you update. The good peoople at Wiibrew say to update wii shoop channel through them, that way you can still use it.
Also, what's the ambassador program?

You burned the game at either too high or too low a speed. Try x4 first, as it is the most common. If that doesn't work, troubleshoot with x3 or x5 or x6.. if you downloaded the game via torrent, a readme file should be enclosed, which should always have the proper burn speed at which the game should be written.
if that doesn't work, your NewGamma is being a retard, which happens often. I suggest finding and downloading BackupLoader, it's far more reliable.

look i have a 4.2e softmodded i can load any neogamma n usb loader gx u can load anything cus i have it i should know
u need load wadmanager through bootmii n unistall ios249 den u fat32 format , den you put wiigator da crazy musik 1 files on da sd card den load that threw bootmii n install ios249 den its dun your wii softmodded der on a new guide on wii hack for 4.2 users , im a a 4.2e user successfully softmodded everything workiing i should know

If your going to make a guide about hacking a Wii, make sure to fucking PROOF it afterward. Shit like that could have caused unlucky people's Wiis to brick. When we first did this guide, all 3 Packs on step 2 were not working. Hell, Pack 3 would just fuck my Wii up. We were lucky it didn't brick.
I didn't say we weren't grateful for their guide, but if it worked properly people like us wouldn't have had to make a video tutorial explaining how it worked.

hey i use to use backup loader channel 0.3 and i used ios36 when it had came out and then i updated to 4.2 when i update did it uninstall that or is it still installed would that cause it to freeze and not load (if so how do i uninstall the custom ios i first put on)

omg dude i did this in 20 minutes. all i did was update to 4.2, got the HBC and other files and hacked it. than i opened cIOS38r14 INSTALLER and got IOS250. after i did that i went to WAD Manager and installed NeoGamma to my wii menu in there it worked all within 20 minutes. if you forgot how u did it, well i just told u?????????????????/

...well that's great, good for you. And yes, that is the gist of what we did, but when we say we have no idea how we did it, we're referring to how IOS 250 is the magical, miraculous workaround to Nintendos' 4.2 homebrew destroying firmware. :P
