  • whoa!! Great technique--I wish I had your tongue and fingers! I am your biggest fan-- at 6'4" --probably your biggest fan physically! :) All the best!

  • Ah nice. You played some stamp flow exercises. very nice.

  • Pretty good young one keep rockin'

  • Where do you go to school man? Sounds almost like Excursions for Band and Trumpet

  • @DasBullWy it's the Kennan Trumpet Sonata.

  • Nice job! Keep up the great work.

  • Great air control, great sound, overall you're a great player.

  • Very nice! I couldn't say what level you were, but I'll tell you that you sound amazing.

  • Ah! Kennan!

Very tough piece! Nice! Espeically in the odd meter sections!

  • Just out of curiosity, have you ever marched with any drum corps? You sound great =)

  • Thanks, I was pretty into drum corps early in high school. I auditioned for the Bluecoats my sophomore year. I was able to go back to the second camp but they said I was too young, even though I sounded fine. I kinda gave up on corps and moved into the orchestral setting. Now I'm a freshman in college working on trumpet performance.

  • is monette mpc necessary? Nothing against them(awesome horns etc), but does it take 300 dollars to find the sound you want? Personal sound is mostly mental and the physical aspects will follow. I mean u wouldnt use a super shallow mpc like a Bach 3F for orchestra, but say if u played a 3c (not recommending it, i didnt like it, just an example) you could get any sound u want.

  • They are necessary if the player thinks they are. I play one and love it. It helps me to achieve the sound I have in my head easier. This kid sounds great. I say whatever he is doing, keep at it!

  • a)watch the cracking and fracking

b)you sounded like you went flat on some notes. Remember: fast, warm air through the instrument at all times.

    c) I though that was good for someone your age.

  • your high notes are too forced, chill a little when you play :)

  • Wow nice job! I didn't know you put more videos on here!! You need to keep ppl informed. But you sounds very good. It's Steph by the way. lol What are you playing here? A song or just exercises?

  • wow that's pro man I can only play 2 songs

  • nice..

  • song sounds great....what is it?

  • try getting a thing called the Buzzarella, invented by Vince Penzarella, it works better then a burp and has less a risk of sliding off and blowing ur face :D

  • Nice playing i also played that peice very wonderfull good job.

  • Do you do any jazz work?

  • I just played the Kennan 3rd movement for a solo recital. You sound great!

  • Nice playing, is that the Yamaha Xeno by chance? If it is, than we have the same trumpet. I Love my Xeno, its amazing, than I tried my private instructor's Yamaha Z trumpet and its even more amazing, wish I had bought that one... Maybe I will as a graduation present to myself and in college use my Xeno for marching and Z for symphonic/jazz.

    P.S.

I Like your burp... need to get one of those to my collection of trumpet stuff.

Out of curiosity, what type of mouth piece is that?

  • Great work tptmeister, keep going always!

Greetings from a fellow trumpeter in Manchester, UK. Check out my videos if you want. I'll post more very soon.

    Matt.

  • how old are you

  • 17 yrs

  • nice shirt... you bought it brand new, and hadn't washed or ironed it yet. still has the 'in the package folds'

  • lol thanks? it was new at the time. thanks for noticing

  • Lip trills is something that i just started to tackle. Yours sound wonderful. You need to keep working on that circular breathing so that you don't go out of tune when you do it. It is a tendency to go flat so tighten up when you do it andsee if that helps. After a while, your muscles will build up so that you can do it comfotably without tightenting. I had the same problem.

  • ...wish I could circular breath.

  • Hey man you are really good do you have any tips for how to get that good??? I am a freshman, and I have been recommended to listen to this and you are really good!!! They said to try to have the emotion in music like you do. Any tips?

  • Hey, thanks for the comment. My two biggest tips I could give you is take private lessons (if you haven't already), and practice a lot. When you combine these two essential things, you will improve dramatically, that's a promise. And if you love playing, all the better. Best of luck to ya.

  • well, most of the time, but there is this one trumpet in my high school band who practices alot, takes lessons, and still can't play anything worth crap.

  • Should've come to Centre College and taken from Vince DiMartino

    Centre Propaganda Achieved.

  • Hey man, that's some good playing. I am working on the Kennan as well. Were are you going to college?

  • Ohio Wesleyan University, have taking lessons from a prof there for a couple years now

  • That's great. Well I'm going to Furman in Greenville, SC. I plan on doing trumpet performance.

  • wow..you are extremely good for a senior in high school. I'm a junior and I know how hard I've worked to get where I am, and that is no where close to how good you are. You must practice a whole lot.

  • What kind of mouthpiece is that? I play on a shhilke 14A4A and its uncomfortable when im playing high notes then i have to drop to the lower notes. Do you have any suggestions?

  • 14A4A is mostly for jazz, I'd go with a bigger piece

  • What kind of mouth piece is that? I play on a Schilke 14A4A and its kind of uncomfortable especially when I'm playing on the high octives and then i have to hit a low note. Do you have any suggestions?

  • I'm playing on a Monette C2 mouthpiece, it's really nice. What I would recommend for you, if you haven't already, is get the best private teacher you can afford, and talk to them. Mouthpieces are a case-by-case ordeal, everybody's mouthes are different. Try experimenting with different kinds. Good luck!

  • A Monette C2 on a Bb trumpet? That's interesting. You do know that the C2 is specifically designed for use in C trumpets, don't you? Obviously it works in a Bb (you play much better than me), but have you tried the Monette B2? Same basic mouthpiece, but designed for a Bb trumpet instead of a C. Don't know how much difference there is--only what I read on the Monette web site. I play on a B2 and really like it.

  • Yeah, I know about the c2. my prof is letting me borrow it for an orchestra and he said i could use it on the Bb, works fine for me. I'll be gettin a prana b1-1 slap soon...as soon as a work enough for the 300 bucks lol

  • Dang.. how long have you been playing for?

  • i like it!!!

  • ey waddup? this is Todd, it's kind of random that I found you, but it's pretty sweet. I really like this piece, you sound great.

  • What is the stuff that are in front of the Mouthpiece?

  • It's called a B.E.R.P, it's a nice practice aid to help buzzing/listening. It's a great tool, lots of drum corps use it.

  • lol, I'm glad I watched till the end, the circular breathing bit made me smile. Lots of good things about your playing. Keep it up!

  • very nice playing :)

How many years do u play the trumpet?¿

  • i've played about 6 years now

  • hey, this is pretty good.. how old are you? and are you involved in the districts groups in your state? any all state recs or all easter or wherever?
