  • pretty damn annoying how the audio cuts in and out while your tryin to listen....ok video otherwise

  • @bdahlia88 Just short clips of a 2 and a 1/2 hour video... Sorry to annoy you

  • my grand father rudolph bannow in 1936 invented the the brig port miller and was offten call the ram model or the turret tipe model and bye the 1980s a quarter million where bilt sadly he had died in 1966 befor he could see the number

  • Hey, it's Sam Elliot!

  • I think Alien also copied the design!

  • Hey love your videos, your transitions in your editing are a little off it seems? Check your fades:)

Love the video, I am 27 as the fab guy for Vortech Engineering. There's no training manual! HAHA GOOD WORK!

Oh yeah you can also put a link in your videos description to your site. it should become blue and clickable so you can track how many people are coming to your site from youtube. Using google analytics!

  • Download free utility for create cnc code for face milling at : cncsimple[.]wordpress[.]com

  • if i wanted to make a human skull out of steal using a Brigeport Milling Machine would it be possible to do that?

  • @cube60659 you can,but takes ages. Better thing is make a model of skull from wood,and do sand-Casting from Aluminium. :}

  • It's my job to use one of these. They never offered anything like it in school and someone taught me to use one and I help them.

  • Youre a legend thx so much it is so useful

I wish you're my design technology teacher

  • great video thanks for posting it.

  • im lucky to have access to mills, lathes, and CNCs....everyday....in school...and at home....i just wish it was easier to get a job in this feild

  • @switchheelflip

I know! I do this on school. Love it!

Gladly, there's a short of employees in this sector, over here in Holland.

    Cheers!

  • That's one of the main reasons I created this video. So anybody with a little common sense could set up shop in the garage and build almost ANYTHING. This is the way it was in the beginning of WWII guys all over the place started small factories at home! You can too...

  • I saw an older bridgeport today for sale when I went to get some end mills for my new knockoff JET hobby mill.. I stood by it, a whole foot taller than me, and thought to myself.. Ah, if only I had the $2700 and space for it available. So I took a picture of it with my phone.

I really wish we could "undo" the cumulative decisions which drive our manufacturing and production to china and taiwan.. I remember when stuff had MADE IN USA printed on them. Now even our flags are made in china :(

  • i missed a deal on one of these (from a school no less) for 500 dollars. I still lose sleep thinking about it

  • @BigAgitator same here

  • Marshall Burr? That's a great name for a machinist. The Bridgeport Mill changed the world and it's becoming a rare skill these days in the good old United States. Most new Machinists train on CNC Mills. The knowledge needed is very similar but just not the same.

  • If anyone would like to buy one of these machines, we currently have one that is surplus to requirements, drop me a line at dan@icbmarine.co.uk with offers. Many thanks

  • i also think the milling machine and lathe are the 2 most influential machines of the 20th century. while the 21st century seems to be dominated by ither technologies,on closer inspection ,the other technologies are implemented on lathes and milling machines as well. But this is more of a fanboy type of admiration. in practice gear hobbing machines, grinders etc are just as inluential.

  • The Mazak Integrex is one of the most advanced CNC machines available. Take your banker with you, and if you don't know how to operate a Bridgeport you have no business pushing buttons on an Integrex. - BE SAFE -

  • i think i like integrex (search it .. its awesome) a little bit better.

  • that last mill looks a bit scary

  • I'm going to buy one of these machines.

  • Nice video. We still have a bridgeport in the shop. Our other manual turrets are taiwanese, unfortunately. All comes down to cost, I'm afraid.

  • oh i thought this was a machine for bridgeport rotory motors

  • The most versatile and durable manual milling drilling machine ever crated...AMEN! I machined most of the tools in this video for myself using this machine. and a small manual lathe..lol This is a good basic machinig vid.. Its all about application!

  • Good to see a nice tribute to the trusty old Bridgeport. I still use one from time to time, because no matter how good the CNC's of our day can get, sometimes there's still no substitute for simplicity and ease of use. The Bridgeport covers those perfectly, but with accuracy as well.

  • check out the mach 1 quick change tooling system

  • in my humble opinion, this is obviously, the most well presented, comprehensive and informative videos on youtube if one wants to understand the Milling machine, it's universal application as well as it's importance in the manufacturing industry.

    Thank you!

  • ive been using this machine in shop

  • i use this in my school

  • WOW!....THE MIGHT OF AMERICA..

  • @conmanumber1 the might of america was using this machine to machine machines and dies for american companies..ie general motors, chrysler ford, frigidare, amana, electrolux..etc.. Thanks to greedy governors these companies have sold out to china and mexico and now the bridgeport in MOST shops sit in the corner unused. American innovation that was so abound in the nineties now takes a far back seat to cnc production runs for foreign companies

  • @william4art Although I dont disagree, I think it more or less has to do with the amount of skill, knowledge, training, and experience a tech would have to have to use the machine. All you have to do to setup and use a cnc machine is square the block and press go. Its cheaper and more profitable for large companies to have one guy that knows how to square the block properly (not too much more is needed) than for them to staff a whole line of expert machinists.

  • Loved the stop motion movement! Very clear instructions, thank you!

Now all I need is a mill!

  • Milling is the best word in da world

  • i also think a lot of the 20 th century was made by three machines: forges, lathes, and milling machines.(and the vernier caliper and micrometer)

  • yeah, I agree, although the lathe is the king of machines, because what is a milling machine but a backward upright lathe gice me a Bridgeport and southbend lathe in a homeshop and I would be a rich man, specially with videos like this. 5*

  • I'm new to machining but am eager to learn so any little bit helps. Thanks for the explanation of the z y x axis!!

  • i would not be without mine

  • Congratulations!

Your movie is greatly appreciated by someone who knows what the Bridgeport is all about.

Well done and comprehensive, you've made it easy for those who want to know what milling is and how it is done. Your assessment of it's importance to industry is right on target.

Thank you, I really enjoyed the video, nice job!
