True Artists!! you can actually see their evolution as musicians and persons through their albums.. starting from 1990 with Death and Doom changing to Atmospheric rock in 1998 with Alternative 4 with a slight pessimistic way of looking life.. and now with this album 2010 with love..

THIS IS NOT AN INSULT TO ANATHEMA, but the name and the style kind of confuse me. if it were back during serenades or the silent enigma then i would see the name fitting, but with a more peaceful and serene genre it kind of contradicts itself. if anyone doesnt know what the term anathema means is to be like excommunicated tenfold. anyways, still love anathema from the first to the last baby!

This version feels slightly overproduced, yet still being a superb composition. The album version has less of what I consider a "organic, proggy, death, metal" association, the textured guitar takes away from the melancholy. This album took many cues from post-rock, but I really didn't expect Anathema to release this album, it's as though many artists are pulling a Chinese Democracy! :|

The first time Anathema has over processed all sounds in its music and made it too busy and "colorful". For instance, take the earlier release of this song; It's much better than this over processed (especially in the first half) release.

One of Anathema's music's attraction for me has been its simplicity. That was the reason their quartet tour was so successful. Now that simplicity is gone....

Man..Duncan left in 1999 after recording Alternative 4. Nowdays they´re playing with Jammie Cavanagh. Duncan is a very good composer, back then they got incredible albums...think in Eternity or Alternative 4.
