Well, we in West Texas could surely use it. Why doesn't the Obama Administration create a few jobs by pipeing that natural spring fed lake and send it to drought stricken area's of the country. Years ago they built roads to put people to work, it make good common sense, but maybe the government can't see the forrest for the tree's.
This is so sad for these people to have to go through so many times. The only thing I can say is that maybe the city of Devil's Lake think about a name change and see what might happen.
Roads to nowhere? also known just as roads in North Dakota.
Also as someone who has been personally effected by Devils Lake flooding, I think the smart move would be let the lake get to 1458 and let it stay there, that way people can rebuild infrastructure around the lake without worrying about it rising or lowering.
The people of the Devils Lake area need to start cutting there loses and move away from the water. You made your life at the bottom of a bowl, don't complain when it floods.
@JTornado REALLY. . . How much land do you have that you are still paying taxes on that are under water? Cut there loses?! Are you kidding me? Cut our loses!!? You are ignorant. To "Cut our loses" is to cut our way of living. Have you researched our area. There have been no recorded records of this lake being this high. This is a way of living for people. The only way that some know. By the way genius, at the level of 1458 it would let itself out. How about New Orleans, Fargo, Minot, Bismarck,
@JTornado (Con't) Pierre. All of these people need to "Cut there Loses." Apparently you are just a present day Thomas Edison. Sense you are such a genius and a Nostradamus maybe you should have helped some people. Everyone's hindsight is 20/20, right. You idiot.
@GSVNTYTWO New Orleans - Built below sea level, Devils Lake - Built at 1447 ft next to a lake that only had a natural outlet at 1458 ft, they were both bound to flood soon or later, if they had researched their areas before they built there they would have realized that. Fargo, Minot, Bismarck - Built along rivers that flooded after record rain fall and snow melt, that's not something that they could have seen coming. You said that in 50 years the lake may go down 30 feet, and it very well might

60 million Native American Indians lived there, now only 800,000 Natives live in America!
You bastards carved out the land, and are killing Mother Nature!

(Con't) but what about 50 years after that when it goes back up 30 feet? Go through this whole ordeal again?
