just bought a 2011 ram 1500, single cab, short box, 4x4, 5.7L hemi, SXT trim package. I've been a chevy guy my whole life, but when i went to buy my first new truck, i looked at getting the most bang for my buck. A Base model Ford F-150 single cab, short box, 4x4 is ....$40,000 BEFORE TAXES! Chevy caame in second at $25,000 before taxes, and dodge in 1st at $20,000 before taxes. Now quality, ford was dead last in quality, chevy I have to say came first, other than the throttle response.

that floor mount shifter is horrible, the silverado with the 6.2 gets better gas milage and more horsepower and torque, and offers a rear eaton locking diff.,which ram offers limited slip, this truck is def not the top truck

I like this RAM, I really do but you got to start thinking and make some questions before you buy this truck with the new Viper engine...it's a real gas guzzler; certainly with all speed restrictions in the US, you won't be able to explore the full capacity of this engine unless you like to pay speed tickets...but I simply adore the design, the features, the noise and the preformance...a real macho car, no doubt about it.

My dad owns a car dealership that sells all the major car company's vehicles... and i can say from experience (riding/driving every new car since 2000, that the new dodge ram has by far the best ride and power of all other trucks, bar none. My dad and I have driven over 15 different 2009 dodge ram trucks and about 5 2010 dodge ram trucks... not one of them had any issues or hiccups. Driven 10 2009/10 GMC sierra's and Chevy Silverado's, 7/20 of them had tranny problems after just 4,000 miles...

There's more to a truck than just acceleration. While not particularly outstanding in any one regard (except perhaps appearance), the Dodge Ram is by far the most well-rounded - a good balance of performance, ride, hauling, towing, options (radios with USB ports, RamBox, etc), reliability, and appearance. That makes it a better deal than either of the other two trucks you mention.

@stewartx5 F150 and GM can haul more payload, Ford can tow 11000, 2009 Ram can tow 9100LBS in the best configuration, and my Silverado extended cab short bed 4x4 can pull 9800LBS. my uncle has a new Ram, it seems to never see the road or his garage. always in the shop, ride, well, i drove a Ram and it rides no better than my Silverado, radio, a man singing into a tin can attached to a string, appearance, well, to me i think you have to be overcompensating to drive one. 2 cents.

transmissions aren't even comparable with the 94's. Dodge fixed these when they switched to the 5 speed auto. Good dependable transmission just could use better gear spacing and possible a 6th gear.
