Great to see Grand central re-introducing Sunderland Kings XX service. I believe the Bradford Exchange-Kings XX service will start soon I hope they re-introduce the Glasgow-Nottingham service via the S&C, which was popular but withdrawn by BR in order to shut the S&C.
@cleckheatoncentral would be even better if east midland trains could run a glasgow-london service via the S&C, atm Notts, Leicester, Derby etc don't have Scottish bound trains.
But if you mean on the very first one as shown in the video, there were probably about 40-50 passengers. Most of which were probably invited by Grand Central to travel on their first service. However there were quite obviously some passengers who had found the service on National Rail Enquiries the evening before, and looking round in mild surprise that their train featured photos on Marilyn Munroe and board games on the tables!
I love watching this video, it just never gets old! Grand Central apologise...! At infinitum et absurdum...There is never a week goes by without an apology...Their tag-line makes it all the funnier...The train you've been waiting for! I have waited for it four times, from Sunderland to York...I have yet to get on it! It was a nice idea, but please, leave running a train service to the professionals, it just adds one further humiliation to the long suffering, proud people of Sunderland!
Hi John,u know how the only available train developed a fault, its probably because the driver belted it out the station, anyway nice to see them up and running again, very very well done,it is a good video that you should be proud of.
I'm confused; that had sharp acceleration, yet it was very loud to say that it was an MTU engine...are they PV's?
It's probably better they started later and got some HST's rather than starting on time and getting Voyagers - as they are no parts for them since Bombardier washed their hands of them.
I miss that sound... ;(

I think passenger numbers are picking up, but some have been put off by the poor reliability of the services since it started.

Beautiful trains, very well refurbished, and the best looking stock running on any track in England :)

i work with grand central the reason why we running a limted service is due to our rollin stock issues,
the trains are breaking down due to power supply linking the powercar with the train and a powercar electrical fault,
basicly the powercars keep losing power!

theyre just old gner trains that theyve revamped although the hull executive still uses the old gner trains

Great vid! Love Grand Central's livery - it reminds me of a steamer. Do they still only have one HST set at the moment?
