love the video so keep goin' on

  • The vid looks dope!! Great job mayn!

  • i think it's very creative!!

  • I think that the whole idea of Shawn's song is too announce that he isn't only STRONG like others are, but that he's STRONG CULTURALLY & i think that it's so amazing and well put together how him and his video show that by having the Aboriginal dancer in the background, i mean there couldn't be a better way to represent that!!! So, just letting yew know, that he's strong as a person, culturally, spiritually, etc. MIND-BODY-SPIRIT!!

  • Also, I'm not trying to be racist-- if this is what somehow gives young Aboriginals inspiration and gets up more involved in their culture, that's great and I have nothing against it.

Personally, I think it's a mockery of the once noble Aboriginal culture because it's being exploited so badly in this video just so people will say "HEY look! He's Native and rapping! SO UNIQUE!!!" or something along those lines.

Using another race's culture to promote your own just seems wrong.

  • What about white people and Rock & Roll?

  • Um, what about them?

  • @SJRNWT They stole the $#!t out of Rock and Roll from black people! That's what! troll!

  • No offense but...

Doesn't this music video strike you as really contradictory?

It's all about the uniqueness and uprising of Aboriginal people, but the entire song is based off an African American peoples' style of music (rap genre).

Let's be honest-- the majority of teen Aboriginals in the NWT listen to rap, watch it on TV, wear hip-hop style clothes, and some even talk in Ebonics. It's hard to claim you're culture is so strong when your youth clings onto African American culture.

  • If you have a spare moment, maybe you could take a second to shut that hole in your face. Thanks.

  • @NewLeafEntertainment You're mature.

  • And that's what it's all about, isn't it? When you're man enough to see past the color of another person's skin and notice the similarities between 2 oppressed cultures, then maybe your opinions will gain some validity. Either way, it still just a shitty opinion. In the meantime, save your sarcasm for someone down on your level.

  • @NewLeafEntertainment Oh please, claiming that there are such vague similarities between African Americans and Native Americans is just ridiculous. By that logic, you could justify "FEENIX" wearing a diamond encrusted star of David and saying that Jews are similar to Natives.

  • @SJRNWT Well, for one, they were both tribal cultures. For two, 6 million Jews were killed in the holocaust. Native americans had a little holocaust of their own. Historians estimate there were once 60 million natives pre-contact. There are now under 6 million. I'm done talking to your lonely ass. Google some facts before you come at me and stop regurgitating false info passed down from your Nazi grandfather.

  • @NewLeafEntertainment

    What???

Jews were a tribal culture during the holocaust??? Did you honestly just say that? Well, you've lost all credibility on that end...

Care to give a source for your 60 million number? I find that extremely hard to believe.

A few last things... Googling "facts" on the internet is a pretty damn unreliable method of gathering data. Second, fuck you for that Nazi comment.

"When you're man enough" to continue this debate, get back to me. Pseudo-intellects...

  • Where did I say that Jews were tribal during the holocaust? Stop misquoting me, you racist nerd. And YES. You ARE a racist. You have a video posted called, "Crackers Arm Wrestling." GTFOH

  • We were all tribes at one point.

    "Tribe(trib)

    n.

    1. A unit of sociopolitical organization consisting of a number of families, clans, or other groups who share a common ancestry and culture and among whom leadership is typically neither formalized nor permanent." There are several sources that estimate there were between 50-100 million Native Americans prior to Columbus arriving. Look it up. Googling info on the internet is more reliable than you'd think. Now, go play.

  • @NewLeafEntertainment Also, don't give me the whole "when you're man enough to see past the color of another person's skin" BS. Just to let you know, I'm a minority living in the NWT and I'm far from being racist. In fact, the majority of racism in the north that I've seen in the almost 20 years that I've been here have been from Natives talking about "the white man".

  • Proud of U Bro...Keep it up Mang!!
