@MISTAPIP13 Its because of all of the dust. The dust scatters the blue wavelength of light being emitted by the lightning, but lets the red light pass through. Its the same reason a sun set is red.
@MISTAPIP13 current flow from high to low potential.., when the dust/ash particles collide it produces charges, +ve charges or -ve charges.. so to maintain equilibrium a lightning bolt occurs between these regions, of million volts:DD sry I forgot my physics a little,i may be mistaken :s
