Wait I'm confused. Are all the weapons the same name but with different enhancements? All I ever see is sword, or pistol, or harpoon gun. Will there be unique names/abilities and loot? Or will everything just be a "Sword" then its statistics are altered through enhancements?

@heyufool1 They all have different names, it must be remembered this was back in August 2011, things have changed, have a look at some of the recent beta footage to get a better feel for the game.

@dnd161991 Hrmm...Diablo 3 plays much like Diablo 2 and I have 2 50s and some mid level alts in SWTOR but there isn't much difference in SWTOR as other MMOs. Hell Im about to unsub SWTOR because it's so boring now. GW2 however, at least so far, does indeed seem very different. Here's hoping it is indeed as bad ass as it appears and succeeds very well.

@kashnijha You can pick and tame four. You get to choose one at character creation but when you travel through the world and find pets you like, you tame them and bingo you got a new pet! I'm guessing once you have reached full pet capacity then your newest pet will replace your oldest one. Hope this helps.

@kashnijha no you can tame pets, you can have up to 3 pets at a time but you can only have 1 of them out. some pets are land only, some are water only and some are amphibious.

I really don't get why so many people hate on WoW...

I mean yeah Guild Wars 2 is the most awesome thing of 2012 (or 2013, who knows), but what has that to do with WoW?

I mean every game has to be there for it's own right, not because it is any better or worse than any other game of the same genre.

I wouldn't wanna start a fight or anything, but I bet it's the same people's attitude that will say such things about GW2 in 7 years.

It's just very ungrateful and plain stupid to say such things.

@TheZordrak And a lot of people love it still. People atm are acting as if GW2 will be the only possible future of mmorpgs, but it's not. WoW will be around for years (yes, despite the decline, a peak and a decline = normal in business) and then Blizzard's next MMORPG will come. Then maybe another, and yet another, and more...GW2 is grand, spectacular, amazing...but it's not alone.

@MrAnneVailable Nah. WoW revolutionized gaming as we know it in a way.. It set the bar for games in the future but it has played its part.

WoW did its job but Blizzard needs to stop trying to desperately cling to it.. I mean really? Mists of Pandaria? Combat mini pets? It feels like at this point WoW is trying /way/ too hard. I played WoW for five years, I loved it. I don't regret my time spent playing it and wouldn't change the fact that I played it if I could go back but WoW is done.

@NaturallyTheDruid I get your point. :) But I feel it's like a strategic developement Blizzard is doing there, more than just another simple game improvement. Maybe because they just don't need much of those anymore as there's just sooo much to do for anyone new to the game.

So I don't think they're trying hard or anything. No one can look into the future, but it just seems like Blizzard always knows what to do. They always did and they probably always will.

We'll know when MoP comes out!

@Hijynx87 Believe it or not, I do know all the games you mentioned and I've played them all (more or less). But despite their uniqueness and great fan bases, they are not the reason MMOs are as popular or as successful as they are today. WoW alone is. And although Bliz did go on this "easy train" after Vanilla / BC, it is the right way. It has always been and it will probably also be that way with Pandaria. Maybe even the revolutionary mammoth that GW2 is, won't 'prevent' this.

Having seen your excellent coverage of the Greatsword Ranger, I have to agree with Team Quitter that the melee ranger HAS to be more mobile than the Warrior.

He has to be able to get in and out of combat quickly, or else he gets stuck in a slugging match vs. Warrior Armour + HP Pool that he's going to lose.

@2ilsenzacuore9 Well as long as Anet sticks to their word and balances everything accordingly everything is going to be viable. The entire point of the game is to make the character to that you want to play, and if that happens to only be a great sword wielding ranger then you should be able to do just that. At least that is what they say. Granted there will always be the "best" option, but that is unavoidable, but I think Anet knows what they are doing and will succeed with their game design.
