  • check out my 4x4 1998 dodge cummins diesel (:

  • Its better to be cummin than strokin...

  • these are by far the best sounding cummins between all the generations

  • Factory size straight pipe exhaust is so underrated. Everyone tells me i need dual 7"s going out the back. Hey, as long as it's loud, and it flows good, i'm all good for it! It's cheap too!

  • i would jerk off to that truck

  • @NICK00065 def get a dodge, way better than a chevy any day

  • That thing make boost at idle?

  • hey man. If you dont mind me asking... how happy are you with this truck? I have a 04 chevy 1500 thats very very nice but i think i need a 2500 and i was thinking about selling and buying a diesel like yours. Do you think if you were me you would sell or trade for a cummins 2500 like yours? thanks man.

  • @NICK00065 i would if i were you idk if you already sold your truck but i have a 2000 chevy 2500 and im gonna do the same thing beacuse more power better fuel millage and its js a bad ass truck lol

  • bad ass dodge we got one... power house

  • how much do straight pipes cost?

  • @dinodog1234

About 20-30$. You cut the muffler, and put a piece of pipe in its place, then cut the cat and do the same. You can get a 4 foot section of pipe for easily 15-20$ and then the clamps for about 2-3$ a piece. Easy straight pipe.

  • Hey PredatorLK, I have never really messed with my truck, which is a 99 ram with a 5.9 24 valve. Does the K&N increase the sound/power/breathability significantly? or is it just kindve a novelty thing? thanks, Ross

  • 4x4? and what size tires? I leveled my 2wd 98 but am still riding on the stock tires. I was thinking 285/75/16's but i might be able to go bigger

  • get rid of those gay ass All-Terrains.

  • what size tires are they, and what psi do you have them at?

  • from the stock holset turbo would you need to buy a downpipe that widened out to 4''... not sure but i want to straight pipe my stock 99' 24v

  • does that truck have a 5 speed or an automatic for the tranny

  • @coltontd This truck is an automatic truck

  • @coltontd Wtf haha if it wasn't a 5 speed or an automatic....what could it possibly be then? Manual and auto are i'm pretty sure the only transmission options that come in cars or trucks ha, im just yankin' your chain bro.

  • @TheYzrider94 shit i thought you asked a different question,, phahahaa wheeewwww im a smart one. my fault.

  • Sounds like mine

  • What rims are those? They look awesome! And do you have a lift kit? Love that sound!!!

  • @adensity They are ProComp wheels. 16x10 is the size. The truck just has a leveling kit for a lift.

  • PredatorLK

what series are those? they sure look nice....

and what tire size are you on?

    Thanks

  • Thanks PredatorLK

What series are those rims? the sure look nice... !

And what tire size are you on....

  • @PredatorLK what size level did you put on it to make it even?? 2.5??

  • thats got to be the best sound in the world. Love the turbo whistle.

  • what size is ur stock exhaust

  • does the straight pipes magnify the sound of the turbo or is it just the turbo its self?

  • @flyingdingoIV straight pipes let you hear the turbo more clearly

  • damn i love that sound...and the whistle

  • Thanks!

  • How much were those rims?

  • straight was too loud for my town... took a flow master 40 and gutted it, welded onto existing pipes and added a nice 5 inch tip...sounded nice and tame and retained the turbo whistle

  • ok thanks for the advice

  • with straight pipe you win more boost??? or more power??

  • It helps with making the exhaust system more free flowing. In my opinion it doesn't give the best sound though. The straight pipe was on the truck when I bought it. I have since installed a 5" MBRP exhaust system wih their muffler and seen performance go up. Plus, the sound is much better in my opinion with the muffler on it. I have a video of the truck with the 5" MBRP system in my videos on here.

  • just a free flowing exhaust...from past experience, the straight exhaust can somewhat be a pain in the ass....really sensitive throttle, so if your going slow and over bumps it gets jerky....put a muffler back on and its fine

  • make some more vids of your truck

  • I'll see what I can do. Need to get some new pictures as well as videos sometime soon. Maybe a drag strip video? We'll see what happens.

  • Put more fuel to it. U dont want it to run lean, bad things can happen.

  • Trust me, I've got PLENTY more fuel going to it now since this video was taken.

  • bad things only happen to gas engines lean diesels dont run stoich they very it can go from 100:1 at idle down to like 10:1 at full fuel and to much fuel will melt the pistons not to little

  • sweet, i got the same truck but 2wd, do u still have the catalytic converter, still on.

  • Thanks. The 99's did not come with a catalytic convertor. So there isn't one on there at all. All that was on the stock exhaust system was a muffler which had been removed and straight piped in this video. I've since removed the stock 3" system and replaced it with a 5" MBRP exhaust with their muffler on it. I have a video of that as well in my videos on here.

  • oh, well i got the muffler and it looks like the catalytic convertor, my dad wants me to cut it off, but i got to find replacement pipe.

  • What kind of tires do you have? i got a 92 cummins and i think the kinda tires you got would look nice on it.

  • They are 315/75/R16 BF Goodrich All Terrain tires.

  • nice tire and wheel combo

  • Thanks!

  • u look like a v6

  • wat

  • whats the deal with the question about the 53 block? i just purchased a 99 cummins with 167k on it. was there a common problem with the block?

  • Yes. Some of the trucks from 1998 to 2002 had the 53 block. The problem is that the water jacket is supposed to be 11mm thick, but the 53 block's water jacket is only 5.5mm thick. Some cracked. Some didnt. If you want more info, all the forums have info on it. Just google it sometime if you want. Theres pictures and a beetter explination, etc. Idk if you have the 53 or not. Programmers and towing also increase the risk of cracking if you have the 53 block.

  • the 53 blocks don't have problems in general. The majority of cracks are from overloading a cold engine. If you let the motor warm up before you haul or tow anything, you'll be fine. I know plenty of guys that pull sleds and others that haul 20k lbs regularly with their 53 blocks. They've never had issues.

  • the bfg all terrains are nice but y not go with the mud terrains?

  • they are overkill on the streets.

  • they dont bite ice

  • Does your truck have the 53 block?

  • Yes it does

  • In that case, has it cracked or do you think it ever will? Thanks for the help!

  • oh yeah your right very true its just if the ole girl is warmed up she'll roll that coal

  • for stright pipe its not blowing any smoke

  • its not warmed up enough yet

  • its not going to blow smoke unless you do a break stand...

  • or lag it out, or get a chip

  • you don't have to do a breakstand for a straight pipe Cummins to smoke, you can sit there in idle all day long and roll coal, even more so if you put a throttle body spacer in

  • i was just saying the easiest way to do it is a breakstand

  • Well when I took this video the motor was completely stock other than the muffler gone so that's more than likely why you are not seeing any smoke.

  • Mine 151k miles on my 4x4 cummins 24v, how come it dont smoke, mines straight pipe like that but tell me how i make it smoke like diesel do.pls comment

  • Chip would be the easiest way. Anything that will throw more fuel into the motor

  • Does your cummins have the 53 engine block.

  • Yes it does and knock on wood I haven't had any problems with it and I'm just about to 180,000 on it.

  • does it just blow out black smoke when it starts up or does it blow out smoke as well when your driving down the road?

  • As of when I made this video the engine was completely stock. It just blew that light puff of smoke when it first started. Just normal for a diesel. I've not got an Edge Juice with Attitude chip on it and by changing the fueling settings around it can definitely smoke.

  • in this video is this just the 3" factory with no muffler?

  • Yeah

  • Yes

  • i have a 07.5 6.7liter (stock) a 06 5.9 Mega Cab (stock) and a 98 12valve (not stock lol) the 2007.5 has been to the dealer 8 times in the 8000 miles it has on it and gets 15 mpg at 65mph the 2006 has been in 4 times in the past 38500 miles (replacing steeringbox today)getting 16 mpg at 65mph and my 98 12valve has never been to the dealer with 230k on it and it gets 19.5mpg at 65mph on 35inch tires. the older the diesel the better the milage in my opinion. the old 92 dodge cummins get 25mpg

  • cummins all the way

  • Cummins Power!!! Hell Yeah!!

  • I love that turbo whine. 5 Stars!!

  • Thanks! I just got a MBRP 5" system for it. Can't wait to get it on and see what it sounds like with that.

  • i take it turbo silencer is gone?

im debating between a commonrail or a 24v

  • That's a tough debate there actually. The 03-up commonrail's are a lot quieter and have more power stock. You can find the 98.5-02 24v's for a lot cheaper though. I would go with an 01-02 if you want a 2nd generation truck as these years had rear disc brakes and a few other options that weren't on the earlier trucks.

  • Get a 2007 with the 6.7L Cummins.

Gets better MPG and emissions are a bit better...

  • are u sure? ive heard some bad stuff bout the new ones

    ecms failing

11 mpg (true when we test drove, also had 30 miles lol)

    running crappily

yet u may have some probs with older ones like parts wearing but not 11mpg

  • no way, who cares about emmissions? it's a diesel.. i haven't heard good things about the 6.7's they all say they hate all the emmissoins junk on them

  • Really i haven't heard good things about any of the new trucks.Chevys are only getting 8-10mpg,the new powerstrokes are blowin turbos and everything you guys have been saying about the cummins.

  • the powerstrokes are not blowing turbos. hte prob the powerstorke was having when it was blowing fireout the exhasut was casue the dual utrbo was too big and it was blowing diesl through the turbo and to the hot exhasut where it was burning

  • thats because the fuel injectors stayed open the whole time and never closed like they were supposed to

  • they do they rob mileage and torque u rake that stuff off u get better mph's and it sounds better and u get a little more torque.and like u said it's a diesel

  • u take the emmissions off of it u get even more milage to it.cause i don't now if it is in just ohio or not but we don't have the e check in the state of ohio

  • No diesel prior to 2006 has emissions testing.
