For me as a child, the ghost was as real as the well. Today, nah. A really haunted place for me in Japan is the Yushukan War Memorial Museum next to Yasukuni Jinja in Tokyo. There's one room there that when I crossed the threshold I felt an unusual chill. The A/C? I only vaguely remember that when I read the translation of what was in the room I understood. Well, unless you're a war buff, the whole museum may seem a little scary.
