@mrdubcrazy i'm sure your museum is much bigger. since your whore mother didnt teach you any respect, i'll meet you at ANY jiu jitsu school in California and teach you some. back yourself up tough guy.
Helio Gracie what a incredible man! To develop your own Martial Art from watching for 2 years. Then teaching his sons(Rorion). Who brought the art to America. With the UFC and teaching out of his garage. Rorion then teaching his sons Rener and Ryron. Who are fantastic instructors of the art. At a great gym in Califonia.
@mrdubcrazy your wife likes to be choked. if you dont like GJJ videos, dont watch. Go back to playing with your barbies. If you're feeling tough im in Northern California. cupcake!
Would you guys mind making a video or some kind of list that has quotes and phrases that you find insperational? you guys say AMAZING insperational things on every video but i would love to hear where yall find insperation and the will 2 keep trying. I write insperational quotes down because i tend to get down and out sometimes when im having trouble learning something because i am a slow learner, so thank you guys for all you say and do. YOU GUYS ROCK!!
Fantastic great to see someone so passionate about there family history, Kind of reminds me of how much I start talking when I get asked about Gracie Jiu Jitsu from someone who knows nothing about it.
Rorion Gracie is the man. I remember back in the early 90s he was the first Gracie to come out and challenge ANYONE who wanted to fight him to the death head up, no rules. And he even got Royce to challenge Mike Tyson who never dared to respond.
I dont know who to believe about the weight difference.
Kimura describes the event as follows:
"20,000 people came to see the bout including President of Brazil. Helio was 180cm and 80 kg." Thats from Helio's wiki and on Masahiko Kimura's wiki it says he is 85kg. 11 lbs is not that big of a difference.
@Bonnie121209 yea but the gracies are well... not liars... but they have so much pride they exaggerate the facts a bit... dont act so condescending, you sound so nieve.
@carlsongracieteam have you seen the video! at that size helio could not have been 140 in fact they actually look the same size with a slight weight difference and helio was much taller than him. the size difference is nothing
@420headband I dont know man, its really hard for me to believe that Helio was almost 5'11 and 176 lbs. That would mean that he is almost 4 inches taller than Kimura which is obviously not true.
@420headband .... 11lbs .... sooo you think helio was a heavyweight then do you ....... if helio was 140lbs then he couldnt be any where near the 200lbs mark ,., fucknuggart
let meee tell you something about "gracie jiu-jitsu" what they teach is already in judo and helio gracie did not modify any technique he only teaches what he knows...disagree? please tell me a technique from judo that was modified because you cant nothing was modified for a smaller person
@chilidog1001 Totally, uh d u d e, it was not great technique that let a 145lb guy hold off a world champion heavyweight for 13 minutes. And you are also right he only taught what he knew. You should go teach people what you don't know. Wait for it. Yes, you just did!
@oregonghostwave great technique doesnt save you from submissions its defending and knowing when its coming, good technique only finishes the fight...and my point is helio did not modify and techniques of judo btw kimura already won that fight when he had the triangle and helio passed out but unfortunately nobody noticed
@Bonnie121209 what the hell are they guna say? there just guna say that there grandfather is a hero and deserves credit for such an effective fighting system when the fighting system they teach is judo
@brozac1011 Kimura never trained traditional ju-jitsu, only judo, just like Mitsuyo Maeda the man who taught Carlos Gracie. Maeda was a 4th degree black belt in judo at the time he taught Gracie and all his other Brazilian students.
Prior to 1925 many judoka used to refer to judo as ju-jitsu (or jiu-jitsu) or Kano ju-jitsu (after judo's founder Jigoro Kano). That's more than likely why its called Gracie jiu-jitsu and not Gracie judo.
@barrettokarate Except it was yet to be called Judo at that time (even though that's what it was), and was known as Kano Jujitsu instead. Maeda also learned Catch Wrestling in America and Europe as well as bits of Savate and Boxing before settling in Brazil to teach his grappling system to Carlos Gracie. Renzo Gracie writes about this in his book. Also Rorion didn't mention that Kimura broke his father Helio's arm with the bent armlock now known as a Kimura, or Ude Garami in Judo.
Great video! The museum has a lot of interesting items in there, including a Royce Gracie UFC action figure that was mis-labeled as "Kimbo Slice" LOL!!
It truly is a great place to see in person , highly recommended!!!

I was lucky enough, many years ago to hear Helio tell many of these same stories in person. It's nice to hear them again and told exactly the same way by his eldest
