The death of the universe is already starting... why do you think its spreading, becoming bigger? Its already starting to burst, like a sun would, before it dies. Its only a guess.. but yea..
this is the big crunch theory my physics teacher was talking about. Basically we are living in one of infinite crunches as the universe has been collapsing on itself then expanding forever.
If our universe starts to collapse back on it's self that would happen in about 10 billions years from now and then another 13 billion years to collapse into the size of an atom.
But if our universe expands forever it will take about google (1 followed by 100 zeros) years before being in danger of Big Rip, where all the matter of the universe will be converted to energy in the end.
we will live in the space on spaceships created for that propose, we will travell tru the universe loking for an abitable world so that we can colonise it, this is what will happend in the future , nothing else
