JORGE DALTO WAS THE BEST! FASTEST AND MOST ACCURATE FINGERS TO EVER PLAY A PIANO. HE WAS SUCH A NICE GUY TOO. FIRST CLASS GENT WHO LOVED HIS WIFE AND FAMILY. WE MISS HIM STILL. I SAW HIM BACK ANN JILLIAN WAY BACK IN 198O AT RENO SWEENEY'S IN THE VILLAGE - JUST GREAT! AND SHE COULD SING HER A--- OFF TOO! LOVED IT, THANKS FOR THIS POST.
@denzelsnipes69 I was very fortunate to have met and know the man. What an amazing talent and humble human being. He succumbed to cancer. He was undoubtedly one of the best. I use to go see him play at a place called "Sound Scape" on W 54th street somewhere. He was always humble and talked to you like just the guy next door. Mario Rivera, Nicky Marrero, Andy and Jerry Gonzalez, Milton Cardona, Hilton Ruiz, Nestor Torres, Dave Valentin, Claudio Roditi, Paquito D'Rivera and the list goes on.
@googo151 This was a weekly get together of some of the very best Latin Jazz talents that would show up and sit in. Lets not forget too, Daniel Ponce. And I'm trying to remember some of the other players but can't. One night Dick Taco Mesa showed up. What an amazing night that was. Shoot!
Jorge was a master pianist. Whatever was a sheet of paper he would execute it in his own Style. This album by el maestro Mario Bauza happens to be a gem. There's one tune in there that features Jorge in an extraordinary solo. ( Cubanola ) way. Way, way Cool stuff.
Loved this! Nice to hear Jorge Dalto on piano - we lost him way too soon. I met Jorge in NYC in late 70's - he was playing a gig in the Village with singer/actress Ann Jillian - and with Stanley Banks on Bass - they were sooo good! So was Ann Jillian (a most under rated singer with a great voice). God Bless Jorge and his family. May he RIP.
Does this song have a title?
