It doesn't matter to radical animal rights people whether or not this horse was an actual commercial carriage horse. They have already posted a link about his death & are hollaring carriages need to be banned in NOLA and NYC. You can go to facebook and type in "Carriage Horse Cruelty" - it will take you to just one of their many anti-carriage horse pages on facebook. Actually the RARAs want ALL carriage horse use stopped - commercial and privately owned. And that includes carriage mules too.

Unfortunately, this happened a lot with the carriage horses in NYC who were driven all over. They finally put in place a law about working hours, restricted where carriages could go, and my riding stable in Brooklyn refused to let us rent horses one day it was too hot, and I thanked them for that! My guests and I went across the street and went bowling instead. If you throw cold water on a hot horse it can also founder it. Thanks for this, Casey. Very sad. Horses are actually fragile.
