@Themohaned2000 The general rule with torts is to feed them as close to a natural diet as possible. The diet you are feeding is pretty unnatural! Try not to feed to many supermarket foods - garden weeds are better. Variety is also important as is supplementing the diet. Look up care sheets for your species in places like the World Chelonian Trust. . It's best to stick with things recommended by people like the tortoise protection group, the tortoise trust and the world chelonian trust.
@MrHunter9511 Tortoises in the wild tend to eat whatever they can. They are omnivorous, not herbivorous. Kind of similar to turtles. Relax, I'm sure the owner know what he is doing.
Well, Red foot and Elongated tortoises are omnivorous (they NEED protein)... And my greek tortoise did eat a cricket once (by accident), and it didn't do much damage... So I'm pretty sure that you can calm down now.......
I have a sulcata and russian too!Do you breed your Russians I'm looking into breeding.I think I'm going to have 1 male and 2 females.Any spacial thing I should know?
Funny, my torts live outside year round now and eat bugs when ever they please, but mostly graze on grass. They love to eat snails. I dont "feed" them bugs anymore, they hunt them.
I don't think you should feed that much protein (crickets) to this species of tortoise because already I see some pyraminding on the tortoises shell. Thanks for the video though, I like the rest of the ideas.
They had pyramiding when I bought them and tho it has a dietary factor, humidity also plays a role. They graze outdoors year round all day so when I make food for them it is a treat not a staple diet anymore. The pyramiding on my oldest tort is gone now so I dont believe it was dietary.
There is sno spinach in this recipe. What you see is collard and mustard greens and spring mix. As stated below, my torts graze outside on grass year round now, so when I prepare food it is a treat and not their only diet.
I blend the stuff up because Tenacious's beak isnt very strong and Tater is still too little to eat the bigs stuff..Im guessing they wouldnt eat much hay if I didnt sneak it in :) Thanks!
What happens if you just feed the same thing without cutting or blending them. Would they eat something first, and if so, which one is the favorite? I wonder if there is a preference difference between russian and african. (Iz's tune goes very well with the clip)
@Themohaned2000 you should feed your tortoises dark leafy greens, and some vegetables every once in a while.

You basically give them tomato's and carrots. I'm a turtle expert not a tortoise expert kids.

You DON'T feed crickets to tortises! Thats only for turtles. Tortises don't eat meat, only plants. DO NOT PUT IN CRICKETS!

@Britoe97 tortises are not omnivorous, well most of them aren't. ALL THE TORTISES I KNOW ARE HERBIVOROUS.

Nope they really don't, since the hay is fine its kinda like a fiber suppliment, but mostly she just picks the food apart and eats what she likes.
