  • old but nice......

  • nice film but sad how they all die i was expecting one at least to survive

  • @CK2033 YOU DICK

  • AMAZING NEWS FLASH: Coast Guard rescues two sailors from rough seas on 20th anniversary of ‘perfect storm’ - see full article at Boston Globe.

See forthcoming I Shouldn't Be Alive episode marking the 20th anniversary of the Halloween 1991 Perfect Storm. Incredible true story of the helicopter rescue crew forced to ditch in the Ocean.

  • this movie was a little slow for me, it kind of lagged hard

  • Check out the Perfect Storm episode of I SHOULDN'T BE ALIVE.

It premieres 2nd Nov on Animal Planet US to tie in with 20th anniversary of the terrifying storm of Oct 30 1991.

  • Everyone should read the book by Sebastian Junger. It's a fantastic read and tells you so much more than the film.

  • I think its long overdue for Hollywood to make a movie about the final voyage of the Edmund Fitzgerald. If its done the right way, it would be a classic just like this one.

  • watched this the other day sooooooo sad :P

  • god, what I was crying to this movie..

  • first time i watched it was around 2002.

in 2006 something reminded me of this movie and i searched relative things everywhere until i found it and watched it.

and today this somehow in an unrelated way to anything jumped into my head, i searched for a while, and here i am. This a fucking tradition movie for me and i don't even like it SOOO much, ohh well strange but respect for those who gave theyre hearts to the sea.(goin to watch it XD)

  • Hollywood doesn't make movies like that anymore.

  • Gives me goosebumps every time I watch this

  • internet tv - rather than a perfect storm time for me

  • 1:42 is emo

  • just watched this on amc

  • @madbombaguy13 me too

  • My girlfriends reading this book

  • @ps3quinn care..

  • @simon8ryttegard mare..

  • I have this movie at home and read the book by Sebastian Junger. It was sad but wonderful. Thanks for posting the video of this true and amazing story of strength from a bad bad storm they just could not outrun. I lived in Boston between 1987 and 1991 and moved right before this storm struck. Love this trailer.

  • the wave @ 1:42 kills all the main characters.

  • This is what happens when Palkia fights Kyogre

  • What a sad Movie

  • I watched this movie the other day and I have to say it is the most ridiculousness film I have ever watched. Helicopters flying in a crazy storm? trying to re=fuel at like 100mph, in a storm? The crew of the fishing boat climbing casually onto the top of the boat like it was a mid-summer breeze? Shit, crazy movie!

  • @T4teens i really do wonder..why is it on true life story :)

  • @T4teens it happened......this isn't fiction. The coast guard goes out when they get a distress call...

  • You are wrong to feel bad for these people. Yes, we are all victims of circumstance, but longline fishermen are responsible for some of the worst environmental destruction in human history. They catch a shark at one point, and then just kill and throw it back, laughing it off afterwards. This exemplifies their contempt and disregard for nature and the marine ecosystem in general. Not to say they are evil people, but when you engage in war with nature, nature has a right to eliminate you.

  • Comment removed

  • Even worse, is the fact that this shallow and mindless movie romanticizes the whole operation and their lifestyles. That to me, is a crass and shameful act of anti intellectual cultural regression. This is a profoundly dumb and shallow movie, and in the end a sane person would only hope nature can even the score a bit and remove some of these human blights from the planet. It's only fair.

  • @IPossessAHugePenis Get real. You're obviously trolling.

  • @waltereg0 Argue your position.

  • @IPossessAHugePenis They are evil people? How so? Don't tell me you think they are evil because they take fish from the ocean, because they do that in order for people to survive. It is nature, like a snake would kill a mouse. They sail out risking their lives for fish so people can eat and you say that? "They" stands for all fishermen does it? You are very ignorant

  • @IPossessAHugePenis You are wrong not to feel bad for these people. The Bible says you're supposed to kill his creatures to survive. How would you like it if a gigantic rouge wave hit you?

  • I have never seen a large red wave before, but it sounds like a fascinating biblical fantasy. "God" said a lot of things, and one is no less irrelevant than the next. If you accept the word of a literary character as ultimate, unqualified moral judgement, you are looking for an excuse not to think.

Nature is indifferent to how we feel. If "God" created the creatures for us to have "dominion" over, he also made it dangerous for us to do so, and you are wrong to doubt his justness, blasphemer!

  • @IPossessAHugePenis fuck man, your living prove of how shit like beliving in somthing can make people intolerant bigets who don,t give two shits about the things right infront of them like family and friends, you preach all this nosense and bullshit on here sure try saying it to the faces of the familys who lost relatives in that storm, who were trying to scrape a living for themselfs by risking thier lives i'd like to see you try it. selfserving twat

  • swordfish would probably be one of there priorities. the Andrea Gail and many other commercial fishing boats all go out in the ocean in the north atlantic. about as far out as iceland and they stay out for weeks and even months catching tons of swordfish, tuna, grouper. (i mean "tons" figuratively, although im sure they accumulate a certain tunnage every year). When i say commercial fishing lines, i mean its there job to catch as many of those fish as possible and bring them home for us to eat

  • The movie does have some bright spots-- you can feel it's positive intentions, it's beautifully photographed and has a fantastic musical score, particularly it's final sequence

  • they only catch swordfish, anyone noticed?

  • @edisonsun21c it all has to do with the water temp when swordfishing you hunt for the warmest water to fish, and they had a shark too.

  • @zcr19 seemed like they threw it away

  • @edisonsun21c yup they did mako sharks at best reach a peak price of 75 cents to a buck a pound so it wouldnt make sence to take up hold space for a $300 shark when you could have a $1500 swordfish taking up the same space.

  • Andrea Gail!!!!!!

  • lol i don't know why but when we went to go see this movie years ago my brother came out crying. I was laughing sooo hard! I just thought I'd say that.

  • @sprinky100 Guess he's a real man unlike you

  • @snois2 You need to be disrespectful? You feel btter now?

  • @snois2 You need to be disrespectful? You feel better now?

  • Im sorry but to all the people who are complaining about the spoilers, well this film has been out for 10 years now so im pretty sure we can spoil the ending!

  • i saw tis on tv, it's a great movie.

  • this movie is alomost pointless to watch

  • This storm came during the time H.W. Bush was participating in Mid-East peace talks, RE: making Israel (2) states. Reputedly, the Perfect Storm demolished his home in Kennenbunkport @ the same time he was meeting/speaking on Israel's divide, sending furniture and heirlooms into the ocean. The Creator does not want Israel divided as detailed in scripture and is actively judging mankind RE: Israel. It is building a momentum 2 include natural (& unnatural) disasters. C "The Israel Omen" by Brennan.

  • The film is one of my favorite films

  • they all died??.... :'(

  • anybody hase the scene where they stand on the aft deck looking at the black sky whit the mexican cowboys music????

  • this REALLY happened? someone please tell me? when and where?

  • Yes in 1991 Gloucester Mass

  • @DatMexicano57

    this is really happend

it was at 31 oktober 1991

there is on discovery a new program: swordfish life on the line.

  • nah adelaide south aus haha

  • no shit ey i watchd it fucking great movie

  • My Grandfather used to fish with the original crew. He was a fisherman from Wellfleet, Cape Cod.

I remember that storm. It's sad to see what happened to them.

Just imagine how many people we devalue today but when there gone tomorrow we create amazing stories & Hollywood movies after there remembrance. Appreciate the people you know now because tomorrow they may be gone.

  • gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

  • @SpeakGodSpeak i thoght this was based off a book

  • @SpeakGodSpeak Everytime I eat seafood, I always think about the men and women who risk their lives every day, who bring me my dinner! Your Grandfather is a great man!

  • This was actually my first movie I've ever watched in a cinema.

  • First movie I ever saw in the movie theatres was Star Wars when it first came out.

    Yes, I am old.

  • greatest movie of all time watched this before i went fishing

  • we just watched this movie in english class and it was a great movie i could watch it all the time...i recommend it....great... very suspenseful

  • yeah, twas a thrilling movie... One of the best marine- and sea- related...

  • On the 18th of january 1989 a hurricane from the North West blew from the Atlantic while our little poor trawler was stuck between Scotland and Ireland with a strong counter ebb current from the Irish Sea, creating a HUGE swell.

We were very lucky to survive this ordeal and watching this film brought it all back to me,

That giant wave was our worst fear and we expected to meet one of them coming at us from the dark any minute !

  • What's the difference beetween a swell and a wave?

  • Well, l'm Dutch so English is not my original language, but l think ''swell' is the result of two colliding currents resulting in huge waves.

Believe me; l was never so frightened in my whole life and never saw waves like that before or after that.

    Stopped fishing in 1990.

  • a swell is a wave that hasn't broken yet.

  • ooooooh!

So then even at shore those waves that are about to break are swells?

or is it only at hight seas?

  • yeah a lot of surfers i know call the waves that don't break for a long time or at all swells. those are the best ones to ride. but in a hurricane, fuck that

  • oh! Cool!

  • i actually met the real pilot who was in command of this aircraft when he went in to rescue this Asian guy tht was in trouble. they called it off becuz the weather was too violent. ended up ditching the helicopter in the sea to save his crew..i met him today in my aviation class, great guy

  • @ninjaXjet Thats Dave Ruvola.. i readed the book and its really chilling how they explain that decision saved 4 of the 5 crew.. and it was a decision took 30m before the actual ditching.. it wasnt a "fuck we are out of gas, jump out".. it was "well.we cant refuel.. lets start a safe descent to ditch the helicopter safelly when we run out of gas 30m from now" .. a cold and rational decision involving a potential disaster, he for example couldnt asure his door would open once in the water

  • incredible alien storm.

  • pararescue helps them right?

  • coast guard

  • Oh, okay.

  • This movie aired on the Weather Channel last night. Its a great movie. It was the perfect choice for TWC for the 18th anniversary of the real storm

  • god damn fools. lets face it

  • I remember watching this when I was young...It came out in 98 I think...

  • 2000. Saw it when I was 5...a lot of times. loved it. Still love it now.

  • lol how can you get scared of twister? :P

  • because I am mortified of tornadoes. I have had COUNTLESS nightmares about them. I feel like I've already been through one because of all the dreams. I said I scared easy. If I ever actually am in one I'll probably have a heart attack.

  • i love this film,by far the best mark wahlberg film yet.

  • This movie is amazing.

I love George Clooney in this movie, he is an amazing movie.

So I went back and watched this again after 6 years of having it sitting on my shelf, and I forgot just how sad it is. It had me blubbering like a friggin baby. Ahahaha.

  • "you're a god damn sword boat captain is there anything better in the world?"

  • take that Clooney you smug bastard

  • You gotta tip your hat to these guys for doing the worlds most dangerous job. But at the end of the day when they realize their numbers up.

One has to wonder if their last thoughts were "Was it worth it to lose my life to satisfy the tastebuds of these rich bastards for lobster, swordfish, or king crabs."

  • Yeah, it'd be real nice to throw those rich fat cats on the boat and tell them to go get a taste of what you go through just to get some fresh sea creatures.

  • i loved this movie...but it was so sad..

  • haha i love that the last 30 seconds of the trailer is just everyone taking turns screaming lol

  • Inresponse to "Thats what you get for illegaly fishing in Canadian waters of of Sable island! "

  • The truth hurts!

  • Thats what you get for illegaly fishing in Canadian waters of of Sable island!

  • thats what you get for fucking with mother nature. is it truly that bad in the area?

  • Comment removed

  • How was it illegal? The flemish cap isn't in canada's economic zone, it is international waters.

  • I <3 Gloucester, MA and everyone who lives there. Such a beautiful place.

  • oh man i cant even imagine that

i been through a few hurricanes

    its a bitch no joke

  • great movie! i shed some tears but i didn't burst out crying. when was this movie made?

  • Comment removed

  • 2000

  • 2000 in baltimore i think

  • sad movie I watched it when I was like 10

  • I cried when I watched this movie, it was so sad @ the end when the mother and girlfriend were talking about her dream.

  • I never watched the movie but what happened to the rescue helicopters?

  • There were no helicopters, they drowned in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean under 500 foot waves, pretty slim chance of rescue.

  • so if the helicopters drowned then what happened to the helicopter crews?

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THAT had to be the funniest comment Ive ever received - I meant "they" as in George Clooney & Co.!!!!! HAHA, God save us!

  • @Studjeff4

the helicopter crew had to ditch and were all saved by the coast guard ship. I suspect you might know this after 9 months though lol.

  • @Studjeff4 There were some arround, several H3s, some H60s and some H65s.. one H60 hitted a quite hard front storm when trying to refuel and they couldnt refuel, so the pilot Dave Ruvola took the hard decision to expent the remaining 30m of fuel descending and planing a safe evacuation..

4 of 5 crew were rescued.. diver Rick Smith was lost sadly.. nobody saw him ever after he jumped out of the helicopter, most think he died/loosed consciosness in the jump, the other diver was seriously injured

  • Yea whats your problem!?!?!?

I cried too, its sad damn it!

  • speak english lady boy

  • its 'in the atlantic' not 'at the atlantic'

if you type like that people will think you're retarded
