That was a qoute of what SpeedKlz wrote (below) which i responded to and give 1/4 mile time of 14.5
none the less with the mods listed on the XRS shown the car may have at most picked up 60 crank hp (this is a very generous estimate and it likely gained much less) leaving it at a total crank HP of ~218 . The XRS in stock trim does the 1/4 mile ~16.1, giving the car 60 more hp (again a really generous estimate) would put the car in the mid/high 14's at best
so your saying the sub 220 HP (again a much over stated estimate) car does better or worse then a 14 second quarter mile
As an example, to get from the stock 15.7 qtr mile time to a 15.2, it took my 200BHP N/A V6 impala the addition of rockers, springs, larger TB, intake manifold runner swap, and electric water pump, down pipe, duel exhaust and a mediocre tune
the car XRS is lighter then the impala but none the less the mods listed wont drop its times 1.5 to 2.0 seconds in the QTR
I also looked at the track times posted on youtube and those posted on the miscellaneous XRS fourms and there aren't very many people hitting even mid 14's with similar set ups as the one listed
I'm not trying to down the XRS or its capabilities, I'm just stating that with out a more aggressive modification spread that the '09 XRS is not normally faster then mid 14's
The power to weight ratio on the XRS and the N/A v6 impala are very similar
2000-2005 V6 3.8 impala:
BHP: 200hp
Listed curb weight: 3465.7 to 3600lbs
weight to power: 17.33 to 18.00
2009 2.4 XRS:
BHP: 158hp
Listed curb weight: 2700 to 2965.2lbs
weight to power: 17.09 to 18.77
the similar weight to power ratio is the same reason that the base qtr mile time are also similar. the only true variable now is the restrictiveness of the factory set up and how much mods free up or change flow

@CaStylin Sorry buddy but I ran a 14.1 at 101 mph. My car is capable of 13s just need a good launch. My car now has 197whp and is still naturally aspirated.
@magusownz - i would love to see it on the 1320, until then i have to stick with my notion that the mod's listed totaling 185whp will = a mid/high 14's run. I will say great job getting another 15BHP out of the tune since last year

ummm a stock xrs doesn't do 16.1 seconds on the track. In the US with a great driver you could actually hit low 15s high 14s. I made (in PR) 15.7 @ 91.5 mph STOCK!
i have yet to find a US mag / reviewer that puts either models of the xrs (05' or 09') anything lower then 15.8 let alone a in the 14's
for referance motor week puts the 05' xrs at 16.1 in the qtr - C&D puts it @ 15.8 (aug 04') - IIRC the '09 xrs is rated with lower power and higher weight which equals slower qtr times

well I once found (I dont remember where) (it was something aboput a corolla XRS review 2005-05) that stated the xrs can do a 1/4 mile run of 15.3 @ 91.5 mph. And now, someonme was once arguing with me that a scion tc can run 14.9, now you just explain that to me cause physics dont lie, power to weight ratio goes to the xrs, more hp less weight and the tc weights more and iot can outrun an xrs???
C&D has the stock ('00-'09) TC doing 15.7 @ 88mph in the 1/4... But the stock TC with the optional TRD supercharger installed (bring the TC to 200hp, 184tq with a very nice power band to match)should have little problem doing the 1/4 mile @ 14.9...
@tonguixrs my friend's Tc ran 14.8 in the quarter with bent valves and 60% compression (although he didnt know that at the time). He money shifted once and didnt notice any after effects...so he just drove it lol. All he has is I/H/E and S-pipe (just a small S shaped piping after the header that bolts up to the exhaust).
3rd run sounds like the XRS may need a clutch? I had to put a stage 2 in mine. But a Celica powertrain in a Matrix body. Stock clutches do not hold up.

ummm a stock xrs doesn't do 16.1 seconds on the track. In the US with a great driver you could actually hit low 15s high 14s. I made (in PR) 15.7 @ 91.5 mph STOCK!
