Overheat = 140 base power, 90% acc.

Heat wave = 100 base power, 90% acc.

Flare Blitz is physical.

Therefore, Overheat stays.

heat wave has the advantage of not lowering sp.atk, though...

personally, i don't like putting those kinds of moves on things unless they have choice specs or are mixed.

Being able to completely fry many leads is why I prefer Overheat over Heat Wave. Magmortar, holding a Choice Scarf, is meant to switch in and out a lot, so after nuking the opponent and the opponent sending in a pokemon to counteract, the Sp. Attack drop usually doesn't matter.
