  • its too bad this video is so far out of date. now with the software audio console all other consoles are obsolete. why carry areound thousands of pounds of gear and multiple desks and snakes etc. when all you need is one SAC Rig that weighs 200lbs. (sorry Scott and bob you know i love you!) wwwDOTairconsolesDOTcom

  • @damongold I couldn't agree more! This (terrible) video was a first attempt, many years ago - to "SHARE THE LOVE" with our fraternal knob-twisting brothers - that a new paradigm in mixing was on us. Years after this video - you turned me onto SAC and I bought in - within hours! Now, with a 64 channel SAC rig which you built, thousands of dollars and months of building later... our tablet training center is almost ready! As the best SAC expert I know, I hope you'll have time - Teacher!

  • Thanks for the video. I mixed Nadirah Shakoor from Jimmy Buffett's Band the Coral Reefers two days ago on an M7CL using Studio Manager with a tablet PC and it was great. I never touched the board after I had it hooked up. This is the best thing since Women and Pizza. :- )

  • A friend of mine was doing this during a set up and unmute some channels just as the tablet lost connection. Wicked amounts of feedback and no way to stop it. Had me laughing for days just to see his expression. Also heard of guys not securing the network at a festival and having there EQ's hijacked by a rival company. Feedback city. Great idea but need to be careful with it.

  • Which software is used for live mixing? The speaker mentions "yamaha stage manager software", but did he mean "studio" instead of "stage"?

I have tried to use the Yamaha Studio manager with the "LS9 editor" with a mouse, and found it too easy to change gain faders in the wrong direction without a very steady hand.

  • Sweet!!

  • The D-link DIR-655 lets you connect USB from 01v96 to the router directly.. Just connect usb, log on the wireless network and take control :-)

  • (Venue boss) "Hey, has anyone seen the sound guy ? The band has started and I'm paying him to do a job here".

    Ans.

"Yep, he's just over there at the bar ordering a drink"

  • @maccafan10 :)

  • well, dont loose your (remote) device or the thief micht fuck your gig up!!!

  • used it before-great=)

  • you could use this control a DSP5D and yes therefore cut out the console completely!

  • If you like wireless control of digital mixing desks but want/need something smaller than a tablet, then you'll love "Be-mix". Just type it in the search box. Imagine mixing a venue with a Palm Pilot! Now that's sick!

  • That's pretty fuckin amazing. Good job ! does this mean that we will see the end of consoles at FOH ?

  • WOW!!!! This would help SOOO much!!! Worked with the PM5D for a few years. This would cut setup time in half!!

  • wow Amazing.. I love PM5D this feature

  • nice - going to tray it

  • Fantastic gear by the look of your video... Whats the wireless security like?? could I turn up and change the mix on my tablet without you even realizing? Great stuff anyhow. Jarrah

You have to stop the song to access another folder to find the next song, and if you have more than an albums worth of songs in a folder it takes ages to open it. Worthless, thank the lord for iTunes.

I am getting so fast on the tablet. I just wish it had input meters on the channel strips. Yamaha is the company I love to hate. I'd almost rather have an 01V96, sometimes I'd give up the recallable HA

for the input meters. Why do they call it HA anyway, was Gain too many letters? And why do they call PFL "cue", I mean I know it will be AFL if the strip has an output, but come on. And don't get me started about how useless the USB playback and recorder are.

I even patched the Gumbo IEM rig into everything, so I had regular monitors for the other 4 acts and IEM for Gumbo.

I even played music over the PA from iTunes on the Tablet - all wireless, tablet at FOH, board on stage, Apple antenna-less airport express. No impact on control of board with music rolling (muted)

    during the set.

Gumbo played at a Benefit concert last night for a local musician. It was at a rustic old barn turned into a music hall near Auburn. There was Bluegrass and folk, and Mumbo Gumbo (whatever that is.)

The house was packed, 430 chairs and dozens of people standing. (That's a lot of people for this kind of music.) I put the board on stage, which minimized my footprint at FOH. All I had to do was drop power down from the balcony for the tablet.

  • Cool stuff.

  • Ok... What do I need to do this.

A PM5D and a touch screen monitor (wireless)???

    Veeeery nice.

Some day I'm gona get this in Brazil

    Cacau - Rio de Janeiro.

  • You'll need a PM5D, 01V96, 02R96, LS9, or M7CL.

For the last two all you need is a tablet computer and a wireless router. For the first 3 you will need a specialized wireless router/USB server to hook to the USB port on the mixer, Silex makes one.

    Rick Stansby

  • which specialised wireless router did you use for the PM5D??? as i am going to do this in a few weeks and i have a wireless tablet laptop, and this would be really handy.

  • Nice.
