  • why build a submarine at home? are you drug traffickers?

  • @kekecpekec123 and how in the world did you get the funds for something like this

  • @kekecpekec123

The same reason why people build hot rodded cars, or fly sport airplanes, or bungee jump,,,,

  • Very nice, but will it blend?

  • great sub but can you call this homebuilt?--or even the UC3?? since they were done in factory environments and not a backyard-done with complex tools and industrial tools.--check out my channel--for a true homebuilt--rough as guts but workable sub in the coming months and years..time frame 3-5 year build...but all documented..you can all be part of the process..my test model is nearing completion...52x 7 ft diam. done in ferro- or simple concrete.

  • That's the perfect submarine! Did your dad ever test it submerged?

  • the website named at the end of the video is not legit. It leads to a message telling you that you have "Won" an "exclusive gift".

  • @chuanist Yes, because for 3 years it's down and all my work lost.. I'm not sure if I could ever make it back.

  • @RadioflyerGeri - i'm pretty sure the Colombian drug lords would want to finance this :)

Seriously though your dad is one good engineer and mariner to do this...

  • No way home built!

  • Kickstarter

  • great design

  • Happy birthday

  • Well for my birthday I got a remote controlled submarine.. and lost it.... Just kidding, Sweet job, your dad is brilliant. Stay safe!

  • If you like, you might consider looking at the UC3 Nautilus project. Currently the biggest homebuild submarine - Build in app 3 years and completed.

One of the key guys behind that submarine is now building a space rocket in the same facility - talk about an inspirational carrector to be around. The rocket project is called Copenhagen Suborbitals.

  • will this be eventually sold if you don't use it?

  • The project sadly seems to be down :(

I'm just wondering, whats the song? I remember it from something, is it Jean Michel Jarre?

  • @WallesWillerWalla The theme is a mix of the "Das Boot" theme - The best WWII sub movie ever made.

  • Stupid question.... there is a submarine car that has also fuel engine for land....and electro for under water.... well if they can stop the water of getting in the engine than these people will know it to:p

  • WTF... A DIESEL ENGINE IN A SUBMARINE??? and what about the exhaust?? I read that he also use electro.. but are these electro motors for under water??? and the diesel for on the water surface? and how do you stop getting water in your diesel engine??

  • @55peedy

On surface, you use diesel engine to provide propulsion via generator/electric motor (more powerful) & recharge batteries. Upon diving, diesel is secured, generator disengaged, air intake & exhaust ducts are closed. For automatic operation, a snorkel system may be used, cooling heat exchangers closed, all hatches secure. Flood the ballast tanks, in WWII, these doubled up as fuel tanks, start your dive, trimming as you go. Batteries then power the electric motors (linked to the prop)

  • Happy Birthday!

  • I'm sorry this project failed. I was blown away by the creativity and craftsmanship that went into building this.

  • Őrület:D/Insanety:D

  • Spirit of Jupiter? interesting....Gotta give you props on the perseverance though...Even though I've just clicked a few keys on my laptop to witness 13 years of labor intensive acheivements. I'm deeply sorry that this didnt become a success...I do hope this will become a reality...Thanks...truly...

  • its great . :]

  • THIS IS NOT "HOME BUILT " , 13 yrs. of good work in a pro.plant with lots of equip. is pro.built !

  • why build when you can buy one of those Russian Kilos.

  • truly amazing

  • Chuck Norris's funeral song

  • Your Sub looks like the sub off of 20,000 Leagues under the Sea starring Kirk Douglas.

  • if its so brilliant how come its not under water? is it waiting on welfare benifits or retirement benifits. im so tired of the liberal scum blood sucking off the tit of freedom.

  • its the hunley!

  • Thats and awesome sub man!!

Where did you get the parts?

and can you give me any tips :D

    I want to build mine

  • Well, for starters don't use the theme from Das Boot or any other themes that allude to war. Don't make the sub look like Jules Verne's 'Nautilus' and maybe your dad could shave his beard so he looks less like Captain Nemo? Paint the sub in marine yellow or white like you see all the other private/mini subs painted. You want to think 'positive imagery'.

  • That is the most awesome thing I have ever seen in a home built submarine design

  • you should try a tv show in holland or germany, its fuck awsum what your dad made in holland the goverment would give you money if you did a thing like this

  • how long is it ?

  • thats epic!!!

  • how long is it ?

  • Can you provide some more details about the boat and its construction?

  • Epic. Subs are cool.

  • what is the name ot this sound track ?

  • @rockstar9003 its from the movie das boot

  • Hi! sry to hear about the financial problams you have = ( i was just wondering on where you have plasses the ballast tanks? one in front and one in the back?

  • doesn't look like he needs any help. i do not believe help or money is what is needed, it probably health.

  • your father is a genius

  • Tonight we shet shail to victory..

  • amazing

  • In case of a nuclearwar you can simply save yourself by submerge with your own submarine, AWESOME!

  • @PitbullNL war, organized famine more likely

  • are you serious, god damnit, THATS BULLSHIT YALL SHOULD BE ABLE TO DIVE IN THAT SUB AFTER ALL THAT HARD WORK, IMA MAKE A DONATION

  • does it work. if so that is very impressive

  • Outstanding !!

  • you need a large fund raising

  • That is to bad about the sub i wish i was rich i would sponcer it.

  • That's no big deal, I could build one of those.

  • holy crap look at it's stats.. 6k mile range? that is one epic home built sub.

what was the total estimated cost of construction?

  • Awesome!!

  • SMART

  • Thats really an amazing machine!

  • cool i love submarines and this is amazing :D

  • how deep can it go

  • U call THAT a short video.

  • grrrr i just saw 13 years...sorry..how long to complete form this stage?

  • Thats awesome...i just bought a perkins 8 401 about 40 hp at the shaft...plan on using a 48 volt system...the perkins gets about .68-.75 gph..i calculated a 5000 nm, range on aprox 300 gals of fuel...economy and fun---

but this is superb work - better than mine -i use all mechanical systems but this is just brilliant...how long to build?

  • the background music is the "da boot"

  • Well that's fascinating and certainly one hell of an achievement for a single man, but I must ask; what purpose is it designed to serve?

  • That thing is amazing!

  • man i had a homebuilt sub too man but i aint that serious bout it i just use it for pranks or some time to be a lil closed space under 30 feet of water

  • I have a question.... I made like a home-made camera housing it is made out of 3/4'' thick Ply wood and 1/2" Thick plexiglass. the dimensions are 9-7-12... ok it is water tight and all I will bring it down 30-35 feet and it holds up fine no water in it whatsoever but when I bring it up about 2 ft before it resurfaces then Bubbles come out the door like crazy and it's half full of water.... This Camera housing is VERY solid and air tight for Pressure on the outside but not coming from inside.

  • Did you get an answer to this?

  • could be as the pressure equalizes on the outside at 1atm- which is 33ft below sea level, that as you resurface the bubble of air is entering because the equalization of pressure is not constant and expands rapidly so the air may be expanding...causing the air inside to open up gaps...letting water in but thats just my guess

  • a similar effect can happen on a scuba diver if he surfaces quickly while holding his breath, the air in his lungs when he inhaled it was at a certain pressure. when he held his breath and srufaced the same amount of air was in his lungs and the pressure is much lower at the surface therefore his lungs would want to expand and would rupture. i think the same thing his happening with your case, when it comes up to the surface, small cracks appear in bewteen the material joints and water comes in.

  • nice, and nice touch using the theme from das boot ;P

  • wow, this is so great, i would promptly put it to work smuggling drugs! ha ha!

  • the best song to with the vid.

try getting the most sponsors possible.

  • the sub looks excellent ,. im no Engineer

but .. maybe if u can focus on having more people that enjoy this type of crafting the people will see it through that ur hard work pays off ..help others they will help u ,.!!

  • Love the music. Great sub, huge for a homebuilt. Seems like its way more complicated than it really should be though.

  • we have tons of thoes here in north/south america.. only theyre used to get coke and heroin across the boarders ;) cost a million a peace apparently.. but concidering they carry like 200 mil per trip its a minor investment

  • no kidding! we just thought of building one out of a propane tank at work for that purpose!! haha

  • for small amounts we use tennis balls. just cut it open pack as much as u can fit- wait for ur buddy to get on the other side and throw er over! works here between canada/usa because theres no fence.. just a ditch that defines the boarder with a road on either side.. so its no problem 2 do it

  • Are you aski ng for investors or a bailout?

  • Not so long ago the answer seemed to be an investor, but now it's rather a bailout. However I don't think that anyone would put money into this thing, especially in our country, Hungary. The political and financial situation is kind of terrible here, the future of this sub is quite doubtful..

  • The title for this vid sucks. There's lots of homebuilt subs out there, this one isn't the most outstanding. Nice sub though.

  • The one in this world could help you must be rich, advantagous, - like Mr. Richard Bansion - Boss of Virgin Group UK.

  • We have already tried at his company back in 2005 with our proposal. He was unfortunately included in other expeditions and businesses :(

  • @kwokwing branson

  • I want one!

  • The music is some kind of funked up cover of the theme music from Das Boot. Where did u get it? It sounds great!

  • awesome piece of machinery

  • Great. Impressive.

  • It is BRILLIANT AND YOUR BOTH AGENUIS. Please excuse my spelling. I enjoyed your video. Thanks for posting.

  • I saw on the TV that the drug dealers are transporting their crap from Colombia to US in private, homemade submarines, of course they have plenty of money for that. It is a shame that the goverments and universities do not encourage creative people and these criminals do.

  • Holy hell, that's amazing!

  • Dear All! Sorry for not answering, in fact I am not checking comments too often. It was really nice to read your kind words, a great inspiration for the future! I would like to let you know that our submarine project is a total failure. The boat is in a dry dock now and because of financial problems it might remain there forever. It is very hard to accept after those difficulties my father went through. He couldn't stand it anymore and now he is disappointed and seriously broken. Life is unfair.

  • Im so sorry to hear that! A project of this size is only something you can admire!

  • What a tragedy, I'm sorry to hear of such as a sad end to such an inspirational project. Your father should be proud that he built such an incredible vessel in the first place, most men couldn't have achieved what he did.

  • @RadioflyerGeri You guys deserve some serious respect. To even attempt something like this is amazing, don't ever give up on yours dreams. Life can be unfair but you have friends too.

  • Looks like a copy of Captain Nemos sub from 20000 Leagues under the sea. I guess that ws the inspiration. 20m long, so does it have somewhee to sleep, cooking facilities, toilet etc.

  • I agree entirely with Locustsofsteel.

The gall, intelligence and lack of excuse-ism has resulted in a wonder that most could not even begin to imagine.

I am indeed proud of your father and for you showing his work in film.

  • I hope the very best for your under water family project, may it end up successful for you all after all these difficulty's :)

PS. are there any bed's in it?

  • I just ran into this and the website seems to be down...

The people who take life into there hands and create wonders like this are the best and most inspiring people on earth, and thus they should be the most eligible to explore every inch of this butiful planet we all live on.

I'm proud of your father for his creativity, tenacity, obvious intelligence, and his beautiful dream... And your nation should be proud to have him for being a breathtaking symbol of what its people are capable of!

  • Amazing machine!

  • How many submarines does he have?!

  • Or did he...

  • Dude your father is awsome but he should have put some beds for you and him.

  • The seas and oceans are not the properties of someone. It is to be discovered as well as the Universe with all those endless mysteries it hides. My Father is a real explorer who should have been appreciated by his home country on a very high level..

  • You helped me realize something. I am weeks away from obtaining a Mechanical Engineering degree, and you helped me see the difference between an Engineer, and a Scientist, or Explorer. An Engineer wants to solve problems; what will the sub be used for. A Scientist, or Explorer, wants to do something because it hasn't been done. I do not mean any offense to anyone who reads this, that is just how I see it.

  • Probably it is the best when these two things are combined in a person. You dream something, for example building your own ultralight aircraft or an electric car, etc. and then you have the capability to realize it for yourself on a scientific way. Solving problems as an engineer is crucial, science is a very useful "tool" in a modern world. But also seeing beyond it with your imagination is what makes it even more thorough, turns your life into a big journey that you enjoy in every moment.

  • ur father as a awsome sub looks alittle weird but i bet will do well in the deep water do u know what he wants for a max depth?

  • @RadioflyerGeri that's Exactly Right Geri the oceans of this planet don't belong to Anyone, lest of all governments, corporations,or banks. they belong to humanity.

  • Please tell me what Hungary, a land locked country, needs a submarine for? I think it's very cool, but what will the use be?

  • More than 70% of the Earth is covered with water. It is mainly undiscovered and the conditions down there are probably more violent than in the space. If a man's spirit flies high and dreams dare, he doesn't care about if he is living in a desert, riverside or in the mountains.

  • what is your website address

  • pls add more sub video's

  • First things first, I would like to congratulate to your submarine. The more people read about the better chance you get your project to be successful.

Geri, mindenekelött gratulálok a tengeralatjáróhoz, amit sikeresen felépítettetek. Minél többen tudnak róla annál jobb az esélye, hogy napvilágot lát a projekted.

    Best wishes, New York

    United States of America

  • The submarine is built ready however we are without ANY financial support. At the present situation it is totally impossibble to test it, we can't even launch it onto water again! No companies or individuals help us at all here in Hungary, it's a shame on this country and those who "control" it!!

  • Hello, nice work. Is it now outdated? Perhaps if it was marketed as fresh-water rescue for an inland government need or private. I hope it's not falling apart sitting there.

  • This is the sort of man that companies should seek out to employ as their creative managers ... because they work all by themselves and HATE management layers. The best of mankind is created always by individuals.

  • I don't know where my answer is, but it's seems to be disappeared. Please contact him directly regarding such questions. (dl211ATcitromail dot hu or infoATspiritofjupiter dot com) Thank you!

  • hi again, can u ask your father what he would charge to build a sell us a periscope as we are building our own psub of 52ft, can u post some videos of it.

  • does it have a periscope

    plz add more videos

  • Yes of course but it's now removed among with number of other sensitive things that were not designed for long "dry stay". It's periscope however is not the primary navigation tool, the sub has wire cameras at it's vertical control surface, tower and most of them built into the hulk. My website contains more info. We don't think that other videos could help :(

  • what country was this built in ?

  • My father built it here in Hungary and it took 13 years to complete. Unfortunately this damned government ignores his achievement totally. This great machine has not much future anymore - that's the world we live in!

  • You can drive tourists around in lake Balaton earning millions! Or is it to shallow, i think so? Very, very impressive.Or Going up and down Donau river. It would be a great attraction in Budapest. Totaly shure about that.

  • Thank you for your comment! The submarine is built ready however we are without ANY financial support. At the present situation it is totally impossibble to test it, we can't even launch it onto water again! No companies or individuals help us at all here in Hungary, it's a shame on this country and those who "control" it!!

  • You dont have any water around you so a submarine isnt nedeed anyway. Hard to get funding for it then. Using it in Danube must also be hard because of heavy traffic. The short watersight wont make it better. Take it to the mediterrainian! Not cheap.Miracles still happens!

  • great!

  • Awesome! Good luck with your project, hope it goes into mass production soon....
