You shoulda seen the "out-take" when the two Republicans walk way and one tenatively takes the other's hand... the other Republican pulls his hand back and whispers "not here!"
LOL! That made me giggle disturbingly. I'm gay. My girlfriend and I have to walk more streets than I can count NOT holding hands. You wanna know what? I think this commercial is HILARIOUS! Good one, guys!
it is sad to me that my party is seen this way. it was the only party that supported tiny gov't, and banned gov't from invading your life, at one time. the GOP has lost its way, but a few of us (including me) vow to take it back - out of the grip of dictators and liberal, nanny candidates.
what about them? i supported ron paul...why didn't he join the libertarian party? i do believe he didn't because like me he wants to see the gop return to its modern roots. nothing against the lib. party - we need multiple parties, but their mission is not fully in line with mine.
funny thought. but what if the video encouraged republicans to be more tolerant of gays rather than encouraging gays to conform to the prejudices of republicans.
I don't mean to be a jerk but it seems to me that you guys are laughing at the simple idea of the ad and not thinking about what it actually is saying.
"Make An Effort"? How is swapping partners with someone before the big bad republicans see you "making an effort"?
Instead of everyone saying "I'm gay and I think it's funny" or "you need to get a sense of humor"...tell me why this is a good ad that delivers on any level.
This ad actually offended me. Following on this line of logic, let's insist that all Jews and Muslims pretend to be Christians while the GOP is in town.
Oh... HELL no... this is just so... wrong to do. You're really asking same sex couples to change their behavior while the GOP is in town? SERIOUSLY? That's not MN-nice, that's MN-crazy!
Someone missed you when they were handing out senses of humor, didn't they? It's a joke and, as a lesbian who has had to be subtle with who she and her partner are seen with, I find this hilarious. So. If you wanna do some good, go talk to people who actually think that gays should be persecuted and stop preaching to the choir.
How about the Democrats or Liberal version? About the commercial though, it's cool.

Some think it's funny, some think it's stupid.
It all comes down to personal opinion these days.

Were the toilets at the Minneapolis Airport busy during the Republican convention? Was Larry Craig there?

Some of you need to look up IRONY in the dictionary.
There's nothing ironic about this. It's just lame.
apokolips71 3 years ago
It's borderline offensive.
I guess we should all pretend to be someone or something we're not to please some old white guys who think they rule the world.
Pretty lame.

The only party to support tiny government and non-interference with people's lives? What about the Libertarians?

Then it wouldn't be funny! Pointing out their failings and phobias is what is funny. Encouraging them to be tolerant is a community service message.

How is this encouraging them to be tolerant?

Um...this is fully (and obviously, I might add!) intended as an ironic twist.
Are you sure you aren't half-Republican? ;-)
