Apparently all 220,000 tickets were sold in 68 minutes, first two nights sold out in 14 minutes. Fuck! That shows you just how hungry people are for music to be brought back to life.
Fuckin' ace song, who are the critics to say this is crap, and yet they praise wank like Noah and the fucking whale, the magic numbers, kasabian and coldplay
@MrManchester316 to be fair comparing the roses to coldplay is apples and oranges, Oasis and the roses is a fairer comparison (and I haven't lisined to Oasis in the last 10 years, the roses however have rarely been off my playlist)
I'm not. I was directed to this by a friend trying to convert me into a SR fan. Don't like it, or anything else they've done. Plus they inspired Oasis, can never forgive them for that.

2:03 you just wanna put ya hands the air and sing, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH IM GUNA BREAK RIGHT INTO HEAVEN, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH I CANT WAIT ANYMORE!
Yeah, the intro's really important to the trip, but an amazing song anyway. Not to take anything away from the guitar, but the groove of the bass and drums is amazing!
damn this was my anthem when i was 15, all alone in my room learing (teaching myself) how to play guitar...and this was the album that was spun the most. Think im gonna buy it again on Itunes:-) Just a fan
John Squire said that at the time, he was influenced by Led Zepplin when he wrote the tunes. I've gotten myself into a few arguments over it. Does anyone agree?
@Dbusdriver71 Disagree. John Squire said in an interview that his favorite guitar player and the guitar player that most influenced him was Jimi Hendrix... "Why?" he answered "Because Jimi played like he was from another planet."
@braddyboy82 For the tunes of this album the second comming . I have a few magazines from the time that he states Led Zepplin as the main influence for the album. I remember him saying something about hendrix though; it wasn't in reference to the second comming. If you have contrary info please state the source; I will be the first to admit I was mistaken.
@Johnny1lap Comparing artists from the South and the North in that manner is just fucking ridiculous. The WHOLE of the UK has created some of the best music ever written over a huge range of genres.
dont hate me for this but i get bored of second coming easily :-/ when i listen to the debut i know i can never get bored :) not saying second coming isnt a good album, just that its not a patch on the first and that most of the songs wont be as remembered as all of the tracks on the debut.
turn up the stereo-neighbours?? WHAT NEIGHBOURS!! listen up sweet child of mine.....TURN IT UP!!! amazing song-amazing album and ian brown is the man!!
The change they made from the first album to the second one was nothing short of amazing. They did exactly what they had to do bar a couple of dodgy throwaway tracks on here and a few needless guitar overdubs.
For me it top's The 1st album for songs but of course doesn't play from start to finish as well as 'The Stone Roses' which is a perfect LP.
90's Music critics that slammed this were busy snorting coke and wanking on about 'Cool Britania'
@Dienekes888 It was accused of being mediocre because of bad timing. Remember, the court case with Silvertone dragged on for almost 4 years and then the appeal took another year. By the time 'the second comming' was released Nirvanna came and gone, that unholy Damon Alburn arrived and then Oasis rose. Just bad timing. It breaks my heart because as good as this album is, this is the Stone Roses slowly drifting away; on the way down. It hurts to say that.
What I can't understand is how anyone can say this album was a failure?! It did really well here. I came here in the earily ninties. It sold really well here for a time. Apparently it didn't do so well in England. Perhaps like Oasis' album 'be here now' , Second Comming just wasn't the first album. STILL a brillant album from a historic band. Brillant.
@Andrial12 I always got the impression Ian Brown and John Squire didn't want to be part of the Manchester Scene at all. Tony Wilson didn't really endear himself to well Ian and John. I was there for the first so I believe the first is the best. Everthing just came apart. Then that UNHOLY Blur terrorized England. Thankfully Oasis saved us from them. Again, still love the Second Comming.
lol @ the Beatles pub cover band saving anyone lol
Aside from that hilarity, the first Roses album was groundbreaking and changed music, it bridged the gap between rave and indie. But I think The Second Coming is a better album. It's a pure rock album, and as such it's up there with the very best, and I think it will stand the test of time better than their earlier stuff. Rave & indie were of their moment, good music is eternal, and The Second Coming is just pure good music.
@boojum420 You know what I mean. Lately, Damon Alburn and his 'gorilla' band are terrorizing Asia; well, at least they were. I don't know what they're up to at this moment. Oasis was fantastic but it also came apart. Both bands broke my heart but am still very greatful to both of them; but the Stone Roses had the greater impact by far even though Oasis was together far longer and released a lot more material. That was my ultimate point.
The ending from 4.25-7.00 is brilliant. I suppose that in retrospect it is the sound of a band burning at its brightest to fizzle out quickly but that's what some bands do whereas others just create more average work for longer.
Love the song, never tire of it, or their two albums. What's always puzzled me: how much of a drum loop was this Breakin' into Heaven track. My guess is, it's in three parts. Can anybody put me wise on that score?
this album was ruined by the vocal recordings, they should of got more out of brown, they should of multi tracked his vocals, infact the eq everything is just wrong, the instrmentation on this record is superb though. The songs are still good, but squire was on another level with this lp

Hopefully the Roses will get back together and do a few more albums.
No reason why not, and they still have all the talent in the world.
Led Zeppelin were together from 68 to 80, Roses from 83 to 95.
Zeppelin only ended with death of Bonham.
No excuse for Roses, as Reni never died, he just walked away.
