Whoopi was with a man who had a black face on. Harry Connic Jr comment was very remarkable. American do have a different taste from other country so we can't just judge other countries from our standards. I am against black face being used by Americans cause we already established that in our country.
What are you going to do.... censor all of the post and just leave the ones taking up for the black folks. If you can dish out the insults, then you have to be able to take it.
@LuckyBlueEyez i know. I think that is so weird. don't agree with it cause its hypocritical but its all the effects of past racism where now miniorities can do anything but a majority can. Its kinda fun being in that exclusive minority privileged but i see the frustration.
Okay, I may make people angry for this but...the person who made the comment about White Chicks has a point. Many black comedians make a LIVING making fun of white people. Racial jokes sell tickets. When black people do it it's funny but when white people do it's racist??? I think white people have to be more careful because of the history of blacks' experiences in this country but it shouldn't be blown out of proportion EVERY time, you know?
Funny they get shit for putting black face on a show barely anyone watches but blacks are allowed to make a box office move "White Chicks" weird how things work
Ok so its ok & funny when Eddie Murphy did the white face skit on Saturday Night Live or when Martin Lawrence played a white character called Bob , with Martin in white face makeup & wig, on his show Martin. Yet people are only offended and its only wrong when its a white person doing it. Not saying its right but it shouldnt be so one-sided.
@donna1175 But did the skits play upon negative stereotypes, that could lead to a person being discriminated against (like, on them being slow, retarded and lazy)? ..However, Eddie and Martin make fun of their OWN as well, however, it's always a negative and hurtful image w/ blacks (Rasputia, Shen-Nay-Nay) ..Blacks are equal opportunists, however, we make of ourselves the MOST, unlike whites who just make fun of everyone else (like their shit don't stick)and they've been doing that for CENTURIES
Oh yeah, and a white guy on Saturday Night Live put on make-up, etc., to do an impression of Sammy Davis, Jr. (just like the one who did Obama), but blacks didn't get offended, because these weren't "minstrel" (totally mocking black features, w/ exaggerations such as red lips and charcoal black makeup), and they didn't use alotta negative black stereotypes to make people laugh

i agree with you if a black person can play white than a white person can play black-- Are we ever going to get pass the color of a person skin? If just see black and white we are missing the person. Peace
It's just a preacher being silly?! It is so interesting how it's okay to make fun of the 'silly preachers' but not black people. And just n case anyone gets it twisted, I'M A BLACK WOMAN. But this is just classic anti-Christ behavior that we can applaud the sensitivity to one culture, while degrading another. If he had made fun of homosexuals, he would be accused of committing a hate crime! But, I really am not that shocked, just irritated about her comment 'silly preacher' comment.
This is hilarious...Whoopi was very famously involved with her long time boyfriend ted danson in a huge scandal in which she sat next, wrote and took part in a skit where he was in black face..people were stunned...
Pretty cool of Harry Connic Jr. I would believe that in Australia they honestly don't see black face the same way because they don't know the history of it.

I think blackface is funny. I wrote a play with black face in it. Everyone loved it. It was in good taste.

Who cares if somebody makes a movie about black men being white women? I don't care at all. Do you? Are you offended? Really?

That's true! Why can they make movies like "White Chicks" that have black guys in "whiteface," but white people can't be in blackface?

Neither one of those black comedians were mocking white people, just people's attitudes toward them. It all depends on what point they are making.
