  • I like this! your tutorial was simple and what i was dreading, turned out to be super easy ! thanks for the tutorial. <3

  • If you can find the end in the middle of the ball, you don't have to fiddle with turning the ball as you go.

  • do you wear them?

  • How do you make mowhawks? ;___; I cannot find any tutorials for crochet

  • Awe this was cute:)

  • I love it!! I'm so trying it!!

  • i have a stupid question what if you want two colors

  • OMG! OFc i where kiding!!! What do you think i am?! I am sorry...:(

  • how would you do that with two sets (different colors) of yarn in one?

  • OMG I LOVE THIS! I LOVE YOU!

  • how old are you??50?? you look like 50!! haha

  • @LadyGaGaElin no she doesnt she looks about 30 or so you no if ur trying to hurt her feelings ur stupid cyber goths like me and her are used to criticism so bug of jerk

  • @LadyGaGaElin Wow, grow the fuck up dumbass

  • Well, my question is, i just went thru chemo not to long ago. So my hairs like an inch long. How would i get em to stick lol?

  • Is wool also a good material for hair falls? I have too much wool and no yarn!

  • thanks for making this video! you are so calm and relaxed :)

  • thanks for posting... the table thing is definitely a great idea and a bit of a time saver

  • @ShugarSkull i agree ... i used to make mine like that but i had too many customers complaining... plus... (and no offense to lady who made this video) but when you make them like that it cheapens them... its okay for personal use but if you want to sell them i recommend looping the yarn to the hair tie... not using another hair tie and creating a ball...

  • i have that white table! this is so helpful ...love how you explain stuff and what not. it's just all around good :)

  • what kind of yarn specifically did you use? it may just be me,but it kind of looked flat like a shoelace or something. please let me know. very helpful by the way :)

  • May i hug you? ^-^

  • Great vid!!

lol my fav part "if you like pain....go ahead!" xD

  • Great tutorial. I really like your technique :3!

  • Could u make a animal out of yarn

  • "some people use wire" ?? huuuhhh? whaaaatt? i would personally like to ask those people.. what rock did they hit their head on as a child.. o.O

y would someone even contemplate using wire over a hairtye?

    Makes no sense lmao

  • wow this seems so easy!!! love it thanx honey!

  • I'm so glad I found this thanks for the tutorial :)! Do you have a pic by pic tutorial as well so I can see still images?

  • what kind of yarn would you say works best for falls?

  • @MissJamiDeadly I like several types for making falls. I always try new types of yarn since each give a different affect. Experiment and have fun!

  • Great tutorial. I'm tempted to make a yarn fall into like a mohawk style with a lil bit of cyber stuff into it. Is it a good idea if i wanna turn the yarn into dread falls? Also, any suggestions as to how to arrange the falls into a mohawk?

  • @mercurylion I've been pondering how to go about doing such a thing. One suggestion would be just to make one as like a top knot incoorporating cyberlox/foam/rexlace. You could do that with yarn as well, but to make into dreads I would use just raw wool. A good thought on making a mohawk would be to weave the yarn into your hair and then find a way to spike the individual locks. Good luck and lemme see how it turns out!

  • @TheOtherScene cool thanks for the advice. my hair is pretty short though, about 3 inches in front and gets shorter towards the back. Typical guy hairstyle lol. I could braid the dreads into my hair, and for the ponytail, since my hair is really too short, i was wondering if you think its possible to tie a sock into a ball, and then tying it to a hairband? Thus creating an "artificial bun" to attach the falls and probably just wear a headband to cover the sides of the hairband.

  • @TheOtherScene I make yarn dreads with really thick yarn. You basically make a loop, tie it off, and then unravel the yarn strands, then backcomb. Afterwards, you kind of roll them in between your hands, like making a play-doh worm, then twist them tight. Then, you place a warm, damp rag over it and then mush it with the straightener. Then, spray with freeze hair spray and apply a shine spray (so it's not sticky). If anything, I'll post a tutorial as a vid response for you when I get my new cam.

  • ur so nice!

  • @reekaree Thanks ^.^

  • It's very simple, but it looks nice though! Thanks for this tutorial!

  • wow thanx for your good advice (sorry my crappy english)

  • thank u fer thevid!!it gave me ideas^^

  • Thank you so much! This was very helpfull! :)

  • Smart trick, though I like to use much more colour and variation so not sure if that would work for me... But nice tutorial!

  • is this special yarn, or can you use any?

  • @MadiiManiac You can use any type of yarn you'd like! The only concern would be thickness so keep an eye on that when wrapping. I've also used a similar technique with plastic caution tape. Hope that helps! =)

  • @TheOtherScene

Oh wow! the caution tape sounds like a great idea!!!! I've been looking at different dread falls tuts trying to find one using multi media and the caution tape sounds like just what i've been looking for!!! Awesome! :D

  • Ok what if your trying to make pigtails? and is there a way to hide bald spots? I have a genetic disease called Alopecia areata and im sick of awful teenagers making fun of me for it

  • @SuhadXMercy I am legally blind and know how mean people can be. You're beautiful and don't let anyone tell you other wise! Yes you can hide the center of the hair. The falls can be worn as pigtails and the falls can be placed criss-cross over the top of the head and held in place by bobby pins. I would also add a large headband to complete the look. If that doesn't work, there are lovely wigs in alternative colors as well. Message me for more info if needed. Many blessings!!

  • @TheOtherScene you don't seem to be legally blind. confused.

  • @TheOtherScene well we can change ignorant people, but we can smack them around a bit

  • after you do all of that can you braid them or is there a speacial way?

  • @FritzyProductions Sure you can braid them! There is no special way I know of, just what works for you. The most fun part in creating is learning your own techniques to share with others.

  • Wow! What a fun thing! I'm a little behind the times--I'm an artist and a creative person in general, but I have never seen these falls and I can't wait to try making one. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • Hey thanks for the info.

Just a quick question though. I make my own falls as well but I plate mine and attach them to bobbles. Only trouble is when I do attach them they look all raggy at the top where they are attached. Any tips on how I can neaten them up?

  • @evilbitch101 For ball mounts I don't braid because of bulkiness, If I did, I would braid each section longer than need be, using elastics at either end, attach the section to the elastic, making them secure either by wrapping the elastic around like in the video or if I'm placing the braids on an elastic, I wrap the individual braids with button thread, knot it, and use a dot of glue. I then cut or undo the elastics on the individual braids. This gives a more finished/uniform look.

  • omg, it's amazing how easy it is!!! i can't wait to get my hands on some yarn and try this out!!!

  • thanks so much! Great tutorial! Tomorrow I'm gonna buy some yarn and try to do it like you did it.. Hope it'll work!! =) But not that colourful... just black 'n' dark blue.. =)

  • wow nice!! 5thnk u

  • and i can put around some thread and its dreadlock made of yarn right?

  • Experiment with different ideas. There are roving dreads made from wool that are felted that work better. Or you can braid or twist the yarn to give a dread appearance. Hope this helps.

  • i made the falls and twist a thread around and got an awsome dreadlock, tnx,u r tut helped

  • wow tancks

  • =) Welcome

  • Where do you get the glue from?

  • There are several places to get it from and I am always trying new types of glue. This brand I got from Price Chopper, but you can also find good glues from JoAnn's Fabrics, Micheal's, and Fire Mountain Gem (dot) com

  • im sorry for asking this, but what about the awesome yarn. i loves it. ♥

  • Don't be sorry ^.^ The yarn is called Moda-Dea ticker tape yarn. I got it at Big Lots, but you can find it at JoAnn's as well. This fall will soon be on sale at my etsy shop (theotherscene (dot) etsy (dot) com). Hope this helps and good luck!

  • is there a replacement for the glue? cuz i dont think that i can find it at a department store.

  • Read the labels. I use a glue that is non-toxic, dries clear, flexible, water resistant/waterproof, and says "can be used on fabrics". Two glues I recommend are The Ultimate adhesive and Aleene's Tacky Glue. JoAnn's and FireMountainGems online stores have them. Also ask a clerk in a fabric shop or email support for those online stores. Hope that helps =)

  • thank you SO much for making this.

i've been wondering how to make these forever.

    i'm gonna make some.

  • =] =]

  • This is a fantastic Vid :) very helpfull.

i was wondering how easy is it to combind more than one colour when making falls. as i would like to make some purple and black ones.

any tips you have would be greatly appreciated thanks ^^

  • That is a great question and a good tutorail within itself. It depends on how you attach them to your elastic, but you could do this technique with half of one color and half the next. Use your best judgement for the thickness of the falls, but remember the thicker they are, the heavier they will be. Good luck!

  • thanks ^^

  • Anytime =)

  • ive seen some falls that look almost like they were "brushed" out, to simulate dreads but, not so much, er do you know what im talking about? if you do could you do a tut on that pleeeeze?

  • there's already a great tut for making dread falls on youtube

  • There are, but it sounds like they are looking for something else? Plus more tutorials, the better =)

  • I have no idea what you are talking about. But! If you send me pics and a bit more detail, I will give it a go! My email is support (at) theotherscene (dot) com

  • =]

    very simple explanation.. very good!

  • Thank you! That was what I was aiming for =)

  • Thank you so much. I have always wanted to learn how to make yarn falls. So thank you once again.

  • You're welcome! Good luck =D

  • That was fab, thanks!

    <3

What's the purpose of the glue? Just to hold the knot in place and make it stronger?

  • Thank you =)

I like to add the glue to secure the knot. This way if the elastic breaks, the fibers won't be all over the floor.

  • great tutorial! very simple explanation...thank you so much.

    -Ms.PennyLane.

  • Thanks for watching =)

  • i am soo gonna do this!!

    thankies for posting this!!

    =]

  • Thanks for watching and best of luck to ya!

  • YES!! That was brilliant!! I myself am about to attempt my first pair of yarn falls. lol

  • Wicked! Good luck =D

  • brilliant tutorial~!

thank you, imma start(attempt to atleast) my first pair of yarn falls today :D

  • Awesome! Thank you and best of luck!

  • Thats it! I have to buy myself some yarn and glue and elastics tomorrow! Awesome tutorial! Awesome!

  • Cool! Thanks for watching and hope it looks fabulous!

  • You're welcome!

  • how many yards was the yarn you used?

  • Good question. I used the entire ball of yarn. I think it has 67 yards. The basic rule I go with is use your best judgement for how thick you want them and how heavy they should be. Thanks for watching =)

  • Great tutorial, taught me a new way of doing yarn falls :]

    ~*plur*~

  • Thank you! =)

  • This was a very helpful tutorial. I'm planning on making a few pairs of my own and I needed a good tutorial to go off of. Thanks! ^_^

  • Thank you for watching and best of luck =D

  • If you make some for me I will wear them for a day to school and work.

  • You got yourself a deal, but my art is not free lol =)
