Actually, it's a fine cage. You just have to make sure you clean it about every week because it can cause diseases. You just put a wheel in there, a food bowl (with food in it :), bedding, a water bottle, and some chew toys, plus maybe a salt lick. It's just as good as a tank and a wire crittertrail cage, it's also escape proof and more spacious! (No offense Thehamsterhelper it's just my opinion.)

@hamsters782 I agree with HamsterHelper. I prefer Syrians because they are bigger which means you can find them easier and you can hold them easier. Plus, they are slower then most hamster. Making it easier to keep track of. (Plus they're really cute X3) Also, when you're picking out a hamster, make sure they are healthy. No crustyness near the noise or eyes, and the fur should be very healthy and not dull. Avoid bumps or bruises on hamsters. Hope this helps!

@leax0x014 hey i just thought i would let u know that if you dont have a cage already, i would recommend a bin you can get from maybe walmart or somewhere (i got mine from walmart) cause its great for dwarf hamsters because they are so small :) also you can get another 1, drill a hole in each, and put a tube so he has even more room! good luck with your research!

WAit, are you using cedar? If so, don't use it! any type of cedar is bad for your hamster beacause the dust in it makes them very sick. they are more likely to get a cold, and wet tail too. The only safe kind of saving is soft wood shavings or aspen. But I love the idea, no doubt about it. My hamster excapes like that too. i love the idea though! i tried it too, and my hammie loves it!

We are using Aspen recommended by veterinarians. We don't put it in our hamster's cage either. Only in his play bin. :]
