  • nice video man

  • Nice green screen

  • Thanks for the info,

  • Dude its called a comb use it.

  • Where I get lost is the inside wiring. How about a video on it?

  • Excellent video for a noob like me. Picked up my FTA system used for under ten bucks (including the dish).

  • Don't listen to these people being a smart ass to you that don't know what they are talking about.... You are suck a nice guy & a lot more help than most people on youtube. Keep up the good work Christopher!

  • Is there a book or online course to take to find out everything you need to get FTA up and going like there is with backtrack 4? I pay for cable & satelite. I just want to do it for fun.

  • @bmwguy21 Start out with the SatelliteGuys forums, they are a great group of guys always willing to help out.

  • so if i use this for bell's signal here in canada would this unlock ALL the channels they have available or only some? could i use thier pvr reciever or no?

  • @rocker85675 Using FTA Gear to receive Bell or Dish Network satellite signals is illegal. it involves the modification of FTA receiving equipment. And you will not be able to use BellTV equipment.

  • @corybo7 Accessing ENCRYPTED satellite signals without paying is illegal what FTA is is the reception of UNencrypted signals (International broadcasters, news feeds, etc). Get your facts right.

  • @corybo7 You haven't got a club what FTA is or what you're talking about.

  • @bmwguy21 That channel is not available on an unencrypted satellite so the only way you would be able to get it for free is to hack Dish Network. To do this you will need an Internet dongle and modified software on your receiver. It looks like SonicView will only work on a Private Server now, so you will want to run a Google search for "Sonic View private server"

  • Comment removed

  • @bmwguy21 Well it looks like the CNX is up and running but you should head over to the ABADSS satellite forum and make sure what receivers are up and running before you buy anything.

  • Hey, I'm in Kelowna BC...I want to be able to watch FTA channels at home, but also while on hiking/camping trips.

    1. i have a portable TV, what type of antenna would be best to bring with me hiking?

    2. Which is better for viewing at home...FTA satellite dish/reciever? or Antenna?

  • @kenlen13 You'll want to get an over-the-air antenna to watch TV while hiking as aiming an FTA dish requires a lot of precision as well as an external receiver that cannot easily be powered off of a battery pack.

  • @christopherve7alb Thanks for the reply. For the home... you would recommend an FTA satellite instead of a digital antenna?

  • @kenlen13 shut your mouth you homo

  • Thanks Christopher is was very helpful but I have a few questions to ask you. I have a pansat receiver I see that alot of people have the HBO and all the other movie channels. How can I get that also?

  • @smoothguy432 You cannot legally receive HBO for free. The only method of reception of HBO would be to hack the dish network signal

  • ..very Nice, man. ... very clear and well organized .. simple & straighforward

  • Thanks Christopher. I am going to get a signal meter, to help improve the signal also. BTW, Iam supposed to be able to get the History & science channel on the satellite receiver ( GloryStar ), do I need to change satellites? if so, how?

  • @jamiesandhillcrane The History and Biography channels are on 101W, I think that is one of the glorystar satellites but not 100% sure

  • I'm in the process of setting up a used Glorystar Sat system, and have been having trouble getting a signal. The guys over at the satelliteguys forum have been trying to help me. I am still trying to figure out what I've been doing wrong. Today, I will be taking a small TV & the system outside to the dish, to work on getting a signal.

  • @jamiesandhillcrane That's the best way to do it, I found it was very difficult to run between the main TV and the house to get feedback on the signal.

  • What channels do I get if I do this

  • If I do this. What channels can I get. H Bo. Show time. Which ones cab I get

  • @decentt4u Have a look at the SatelliteGuys dot us forums for a listing. You won;t be able to get premium channels such as HBO with a traditional FTA system. If you want to get Dish Network channels fro free then you need to hack their service. search Google for "IKS receiver" to learn more about modern hacking.

  • @christopherve7alb Somehow doubt that's legal though- not sure it's a good idea.

  • @thelyniezian That's correct hacking Dish Network is not legal, just explaining the options

  • @christopherve7alb To my mind not legal = not an option. Well, it is, but not one any person should be sensibly considering.

  • @thelyniezian There is nothing illegal about receiving true FTA television channels.

  • How can i set up a dish in mexico, take the signal and feed to households with cable lines, about a 1000 houses? I want to invest in seting up a mini cable-company, i can get 10.00 per household, can you help, i need someone with knowledge.

  • @sharpshark2323 That is going to be an extremely complex set-up and because you are going to be acting as a cable company you may need a license to do so. You should consult with local contractors/builders to even get an estimate of how much this would cost as it is going to be expensive.

  • what do i need to watch free Dish Network channels or Direct TV

  • @anllerson6 You need a receiver capable of "IKS" such as Viewsat or SonicView. If you Google Search "IKS" you should find what you're looking for.

  • I have a BEC DBS 1000, a DMX521, and a 30'dish. when I hook them up to get Vietnamese channels. The quality i get for strength is 74-75 and for quality is 37-38. I've tried to point the dish anywhere I can but the quality doesn't improve or get worst. does this mean I have to try another LNB or re-locate the dish somewhere higher?

    Thanks

  • @cutivu002 You need to be dead on before you will be able to get any useful quality numbers. check your dish aiming against dish pointer and make sure your LO is set to 10750

  • im looking for japanese channels any available?

  • @dicktomoshimasu Have a look at "The List" on the satelliteguys.us webpage

  • GREAT VIDEO, Thank you very much. I have a request however, do you think you can add a "respond" to this video to show how exactly we find the angles on the internet? If you make a second video showing exactly the procedures to find the angles this video would be all we need to install FTA. also you might answer some of the MOST common questions that have been asked to you by your viewers.

    Thanks for your excellent work.

  • @williamxxx40 Thanks for the suggestion I'll look at doing something like that in the near future when I have a little more time on my hands.

  • I get 5000 satellite tv channels on my laptop. Its pretty awesome and i only paid one time. no monthly charges. The site was also offering a free digital recorder when i signed up. my email is Schecter860 @ yahoo.com . . .

    I love satellite t.v.!!!

  • I've got a cw 700s, the signal goes to 75% but the quality stays at 0% when i try to blind scan it dosent do anything, dont know if i need a bigger dish.

  • @luisbalderas You're probably just not aimed right. The dish needs to be SPOT on even an inch can mean the difference between 100% and 0%. Make sure you are looking for quality on an active transponder and that your elevation/azimuth are set according to dishpointer

  • @christopherve7alb

hey man great video I heave a dish network decoder can I see fta chanels with it?

  • @orlokyshadow Unfortunately not, you can only see Dish Network channels with a Dish network receiver.

  • I have a question for you about the Mercury II receiver. Mine has lost all the satellite location information and I need to update it. I finally got a serial cable which would work with my laptop computers. I have downloaded the firmware, but having problems uploading it to the receiver. Can you help me with updating the receiver?

  • @semco72057 first off make sure that you know the COM port number of your USB-Serial adaptor. Also are you using the software loader from fortec star's website? If so you should be able to just run the loader, select your COM port, select the compatible frimware and click download. What errors are you getting?

  • @christopherve7alb I downloaded the two files from the Fortec web site and when I run the loader file I get the error message port open error. Upon clicking "OK" it goes to the program where you either upload or download the other selected file. I select the System Setup directory, then Product Information and Software Transfer, then Firmware Download. It say: "Turn on slave IRD" and nothing happens on the TV screen or Computer.

  • @semco72057 It sounds like you are having a COM port error. go to device manager and make sure that your USB-serial adaptor is being detected, and make sure you are using the correct number (1-4) and the right baud rate.

  • @christopherve7alb I found that it wasn't detected on my computer and I will either find the external DVD player to plug into my netbook or use my laptop to load the drivers. Thanks so much for the information and I hope that the drivers will install correctly after doing all that.

  • @semco72057 Good to hear you're on the right track now

  • very helpful video...

wat are reliable brand names for fta receivers?

i understand Pansat, Coolsat, Conaxsat, Fortec are good brands.. but would these work in Australia??

cheers to anyone for any help at all

  • @jc3mer All of those will work in Australia as you can set-up whichever satellites you need even add new ones.

  • @christopherve7alb sweet as, thanks for the help man

  • The selection of NA FTA channels is quite poor, from what I've seen.

    Where are you originally from?

  • @pf126p I am from NA (Canada to be specific) and I don't find the FTA channels to be limiting at all. I'll admit you can't get premium stuff like HBO or ESPN but if one really wanted to get that stuff then subscriptions are available. I like the network/news feeds as well as International channels that FTA offers.

  • @christopherve7alb I found, glancing through the list, mostly Spanish-language and Chinese in the Northeast US, maybe some Arabic. No BBC or Discovery or European channels or anything that I would actually watch. I'd be happy to be wrong. Or maybe you get other satellites in your area. In Europe I used Eutelsat and Hotbird and was very pleased with the selection. It was only 30-some channels each but they were good ones - and free - and no shopping channels or such cluttering my line-up.

  • @pf126p In Europe FTA is more mainstream then it is here which is why you can get so many good channels. Over here it is mainly foreign language stuff, feeds, or religious broadcasting. What I like are the world news services such as RT, AlJazeera English, CCTV News, ABC NewsNow, etc.

  • I was spoilt in Europe. Free TV, cheap bear, yoghurt, pastries, hot women....

Here no one knows about FTA, or if they do, no one's talking. So here are some newbie questions, since I've been away from it for a decade: If I wanted to run MythTV in the future, are there worthy Linux-capable receivers out there? How about FTA audio stations around here, and tuners to pick them up? Nowadays it seems everything is networked; are tuners networked at all? Be as general or specific as you like. Thanks!

  • @pf126p I don't use Linux so I can't comment on any compatible receivers. As for audio receivers there are a few like WCPE and Access America but like FTA channels they are spread wide across the arc. The best networked receiver you're going to find is the AzBox. it can do media streaming from a PC or network HDD and can even browse the web and access YouTube videos.

  • where did you buy your system.??

  • @danutaish I bought mine in Poland at an independent shop.

  • I noticed that you have a Mercury II receiver in the background. I have one of those receivers myself and the satellite directions was lost on the in the receiver memory. I am only able to get CCTV and a few other channels off of three satellites. I just purchased a serial/usb cable which can connect to my netbook computer. All I have to do now is get the new information to install in the receiver.

  • @semco72057 visit the Fortec Star website for the factory firmware

  • ahhh stereo audio with only one channel... on headphones it killing me!!

  • yo hey i got a sonicview hd 8000 can is till get fta channenels through my reciever i havent set it up in a while is my reciever down to?

if so what do i need to make it work

  • Nice HD tv! LMAO!!

  • I am from Ontario Canada - we had captiveworks until last year when channels got scrambled - any advise or should we look at purchasing newer units etc.

Thanks for all the information - Love the way you take us through all the steps.

  • All the old hack boxes are down the only way to get pirate channels is through an IKS receiver such as Nfusion or the new SonicView ones

  • @52bcrosby Buy a I-link 9000 plus, or 8000 or 9500 HD, they are all gauranteed up on Bev and Dish net

  • @52bcrosby By a I-link 9000 plus, or 9500 HD or 8000, They are not that expensive and are known to work wwell with Bev and Dishnet.

  • great vid, man. very informative and clear!

  • FTA satellite is 100% legal and free. GOOGLE IT. Many people don't know about it thats why they say its illegal. They only know the life of DirecTV and Dish so they automatically start assuming. When someone starts hacking or tampering with those FTA receivers THATS when its illegal.

  • No, you can't get it "REAL TROUBLE".. This is legit FTA, not a bunch of jerkoffs hacking a FTA box to steal DISH, DTV, or any other pay service. It is 100% legal in everywhere. I suggest you check out a real FTA information site like Sadoun for more info...

  • Thank-You bibbler227 finally someone who understands true FTA

  • Hey man you video is very nice I just have a question I bought the Infusion hd now it wont read the flash drive anymore it wont read any usb flash drive do you know how to fix and my other question is I have dishnetwork does it work with dishnetwork dish or I need to buy a newone.

  • I love your theme song!

  • this sound great i have to get a new computer and only use it to surf the net with this system

  • Really, really good information. Thanks.

  • @Chris3836

Free to air tv as not illegal, and on top of that it sounds like he's from Canada.

  • that chick was hot.

  • yes it dosnt read it

  • Well if it's not getting a signal then the dish was probably bumped and needs to be religined

  • @christopherve7alb ok thank you so much

  • my mom has captive works and it dosnt read the channels wath should i do

  • What do you mean it doesn't read the channels? Does it display no signal? does it display scrambled channel?

  • I just wanted to thank you for this video and all your help. You are very knowledgeable.

  • how do I go about getting sonicview to work with Dish Network got it all hooked up sat to sat box then out to fta box still no signal plezz help

  • You must be dead on with the aiming otherwise you will get no signal. Go to dishpointer to see what the azimuth/elevation angles are for your area.

  • It's been cracked but you need to use IKS NOT the same as EKS which is a pay system. IKS is totally free and requires internet.

  • do you know if there was ever a crack for N3?

  • does the directv antenna or dish would work with my captive works 700s, I only got the captive works 700 but it said weak signal, I think I need the antenna (dish plate) anyone know, I use to have directv but I quit and they left their antenna.

  • It depends on what satellite you're trying to receive. The DirecTV dishes will get the Dish Network, Bell, and DirecTV satellites but not FTA ones. You need a 33" dish and linear LNB to get FTA although 119W (dishnet) has some unencrypted stuff.

  • @christopherve7alb so if I understand this comment correctly, is the situation the same for an ex-Dish Network subscriber? There is a "Dish" Satellite dish on my roof but we no longer pay for satellite TV, we just watch broadcast channels with a regular antenna. Is it possible to pick up any FTA broadcasts with an old Dish satellite? If so, is it mandatory to buy an FTA receiver? (i.e. is an old Dish receiver good for anything?) Thanks for the great info and video.

  • @youngnam That's correct you can use a regular old TV antenna to get HDTV signals over the air with a TV that has a digital tuner or a converter box. Unfortunately your dish Network system is completely useless for FTA: The dish is too small and the receiver is locked to receiving Dish Network channels.

  • conect to you tv or computer, needs some keys?

  • The keys were for hacking dish network and haven't worked in about six months. You need an IKS receiver to get Dishnet now.

  • thanx for the info. Deeply appreciated

  • uhhh...where's the audio??????

  • @primpnpoop Did you try turning up your volume?

  • Im only hearing it through the right speaker of my headset, so maybe he only has one large speaker?

  • Wow very good video. As soon as I get some cash to play with I am definitely going to give this a try.

  • Excellent video, very helpful.

  • is there anything out there about nfusion nova

  • check out nfusion forums that's the best site for Nfusion-related information. I made a video about Nfusion but youtube deleted it.

  • my fta dish hasnt been picking up anything. i got on fta solutions and they say there isnt anything yet

  • If your using your FTA system to get dish network channels then yes, it is down right now

  • Hey man, nice vid, one question: I'm about to purchase a FTA dish but i'm kind stuck between two choices; which of the two would you recommend, a wave frontier dish T90C-D, or galaxymarketing ws9036, I would appreciate your opinion.

  • Go with the T-90 I've herd some good things about that dish.

  • I noticed that there is one dish which is on true South and I will get the best signal from it using the meter. Thanks so much for this information.

  • I am using a DG-240 Sadoun PowerTech motor on a Fortec Star FC-80cm dish mounted to a steel pole in concrete. The pole was plumbed using a level to make sure it was level. My problem now is getting someone to watch the signal level and quality meters on screen while I move the dish for a decent power level.

  • Did you peak the dish on your true south satellite (same as your longitude)? You must do that first before you can start moving the motor to other satellites.

  • I learned the difference between C-Band and Ku satellite systems. I have a motorized system and can't get a signal yet on it. The motor works fine when changing satellites and the best I can get in signal strength is 9. Sometimes I get a 65 on signal quality temporarily on a few satellites.

  • The quality spike may be from an adjacent satellite that your receiver "sees" as the dish moves across the sky. What type of motor and dish are you using?

  • Hey Chris how can i know what place and angle to put my satellite?

  • yo,chris thanks for the video i was lost just clicking on stuff how do i set up my Diseqc and my motor set up thanks .....

  • It's all done from the receiver settings menu, there should be n option for Diseq switches and also an option for your motor

  • Hi! Chris, how are you sir? Just have one question for you, can i get spike tv, AE, discovery, history channel with FTA, thank you.

  • Only History is available with legit FTA it is possible to get the others with a system that can hack Dish network but that's technically illegal.

  • Hi Chris, great video!

Do you think I can install a satellite dish in the attic? (they don't allow us to have dishes on the roof).

    Thanks

  • Unfortunately not you need to have a clear look at the sky to receive any satellite signal. even a group of trees can be enough to block reception.

  • Do I need a "HD" satellite receiver? Are they still using Analog satellites? (USA). What are FTA brands and-or models that are good to start a Hobby to learn about satellite TV? Thanks

  • could i connect a free to air receiver to my existing bell dish that is already angled and wired down to my tv and get tv bell express vu channels?

  • Yes you can it's technically illegal though to receive Bell services without paying

  • I have a PanSat Dish with a Ku LNB that recieves frequencies between 95-2150, is that ok for the FTA set up i have, ik also have a sonicview reciever

  • What size is the dish? The LNB should be OK as long as the LO is 10750

  • we lost all of are channels and not i dont know how to put them back on any help

  • What exactly is your problem? did you delete the channels? have no signal? I need more info in order to help

  • well they zaped my satalight and i have to put more channels on maybe u can make a video on how to do it

  • I'm still not sure what your problem is. When you say they zapped my satellite do you mean you were hacking Dishnet and can no longer receive a picture?

  • i guess so some came and put it up and now there is no picture

  • You mean someone from Dish Network? I don;t see why they would be there unless you're a legit subscriber in which case you should contact them for help

  • these channel comes to my property without my premision!!!..so its not ilegal..actualy i have the right to know what is going on like cnn and bbc and other news house but they only availble on dish that you have to pay..well thats ilegal.they cut ur rigths right there.

am not suggestin im saying whats out there.

g25 it has nothing to do with dish network and it free.i have huge fortec dish that im watching much better europian channels.dont even need dish..the only great chnnel is AL JAZERA

  • Just because you have no use for Galaxy 25 doesn't mean others don't are you so arrogant that you honestly cannot consider others? And good luck arguing that Dish Network is doing something illegal in a court of law, last time I checked taking something without permission is stealing.

  • Comment removed

  • So you'd advocate doing something illegal then that's a great solution to get more channels I sincerely hope you get arrested. And just because you don't speak Arabic doesn't mean thousands in North America don't I think you're the one who needs a life dude.

  • do you think running 100 feet of rg-6 would mess up the signal?

  • Usually you can get 150' without problems

  • Good video man. I have an exhisting Dish Network satellite up and was wondering if I can use that for a FTA set up. All I would need is the box right? (viewsat box etc)

  • Yup, you would need to fgure out what switches etc are being used in the system so that you can set it up correctly. Also the only boxes working for Dish Network right now are Kbox, Nfusion and SonicView with the special i-hub

  • I just got the Sonicview. All the satellites and channels are locked or scrambled. So I would have to download the codes illegaly....I really don't wanna. Anyway around this?

  • Not unless you want to get legit FTA which requires a larger dish and new LNB (like the one I set up in the video), Receiving any DIsh Network programming without permission is illegal though.

  • Christopher, that's a great video. Good job.

  • Good video...

  • Good Video. I have a Kbox plus, what hardware do I need to get to have FTA viewing in three rooms. I currently have FTA in one room. Thanks Fireballs

  • You will need a dual output LNB, a multi-switch and a receiver for each room.

  • hi i have all the dish network stuff and direct tv stff can i stll get fta sats or will i only get the 2

  • No you can get Dish as well as FTA at the same time not a problem.

  • I just set up a new dish and receiver yesterday ( Sonicview) When I scan throught the different satelites on some I am receiving good signal strength, but zero quality on any. When I try to scan and get channels I am getting nothing. Help!

  • That means your dish is not aimed properly. Strength is a measure of the connection from LNB to receiver Quality is the measure of the signal from that satellite.

  • My dad and I just picked up a Direct TV dish and were were wanting to get into this Free to Air setup for a while. I'm hearing alot about this n3 security going on. Is it going to be worth it to buy a receiver and the rest of the equipment?

  • There are some receivers working with N3 on an IKS system but nobody knows how long they will work for. Sonicview, Kbox, and Nfusion are the three brands that do work.

  • Christopher is this hacking FTA video ILLEGAL? Chances are you can be sued for posting this video? Yea, this is informative.

Just curious. I know lots of people own FTA receivers and are doing these setup. But putting it on public with dishnetwork lawyers watching. Hmmmm I wonder....

  • The reception of unencrypted FTA signals is 100% legal. All my video is explaining is how to set up a dish, cable and receiver. if people want to modify their receivers then that's their own choice.

  • christopherve7alb: what do you recommend if the dish does not have any elevation markers? Also, if we want 97W satellite, we would point the dish directly to the west, correct?

Your video is very helpful. Thanks!

  • No elevation markers can be a problem. best bet is to connect the dish to an analogue signal meter or your receiver and go from there moving it left/ right up/down little bits at a time. Where you aim the dish depends on your location. You will be looking at 97W in the sky. There are calculators that can help you find the right angles.

  • I have a dish 500 with a duak lnb 119/110. Will I need a different lnb or will this be okay. I also have a super dish. same question. ty

  • The LNBs will be fine if you're interested in hacking Dish network.

  • is it true that their making a new box?? thats why all the systmes are down?

  • Is it true that who is making a new box? Encrypted channels are down right now because of nagravision 3, a new encryption system - there is no known hack for nagra3 yet.

  • where do you download bin files?

  • Google it there are many sites

  • these guys are so gay

  • low life traying to score off the hard work of my man christopherve7alb

  • do you know how to set up prgdvb software i tryed everything but i cant figer it out and i have a dm1105 pci card and a 33 fta dish with lnb standerd im 90% sure i have 119 turned in useing a sat finder but no luck getting my computer to see anythign

  • dish Network is Nagra3 now so I don;t know if satellite cards can deal with the new encryption system. Can you see unencrypted channels like NASA (213)?
