Marriage is not right. There must be mutual agreement. If one of the persons involved declines, then there cannot be a marriage. Next restrictions and requirements must be overcome and the state provides a license. That's how it works. Somewhat like being an airline pilot. There is mutual agreement between the airline pilot and the company and restrictions & requirements must be met before the person flies those airplanes. Is that a right? the LGBT faction claim they are a minority equivalent to blacks, latinos, Jews, or any other identifiable minority. In reality no minority in America has ever stomped crosses in protest. The black leaders of the 60's were Reverends and Doctors, the Chicano leaders of California farm workers were often Catholic, Jews are obviously Jewish, the Mormon church has been a fringe group but now seems mainstream. They were wrong to do that to this woman...definitely. You all should try to get past your RELIGIOUS bias and understand that equal protection under the law is what we are fighting for. How would you all feel if I said, "Why don't you take your stupid religion and go back into your churches and leave the rest of us to our freedom!" It goes both ways. You have freedom to believe what you want in your religion, but that doesn't give you the right to single out one group for unequal treatment.

Your not going to take it anymore? what aren't you going to take? Fam Code 297.5 of California law states you have the same rights and benefits. No one has taken ANYTHING from you. Pro8 didnt ban anything, it was a direct response to 4 unelected san fran judges changing the constitution. It was not in their authority to do so, and the people were not asked. Prop 8 was about legality and response to those judges sneaky move. People voted, and the results are in, respect the vote.

YES on 8. From a secular point of view, gay marriage has an impact on straight marriage rights, which of course is a bedrock traditional institution. There is a good reason why American society is built around the traditional heterosexual home. As a societal stabilizer, it deserves a special place in our national life. Homosexuality is an action, an alternative. But the U.S. is under no obligation to change the traditional legal definition of marriage so everybody can feel good about themselves.

It's terrible what they did, but it's interesting that there's less media attention on the hundreds of similar acts performed by the Yes on 8 people before it passed. I personally witnessed or was the victim of spitting, pushing, signs ripped out of hands, partners & children of gay individuals verbally abused, homes threatened... & that was just what I saw. Even the police in my area said that the vast majority of reports they received on Election Day were for hostile Yes on 8 campaigners.

i was one of the people on the corners waving signs for yes on 8. i have not seen any violence on our behalf. if i did, i would not have participated again. however, i had a lot of vulgarity thrown at me by oh so tolerant gays.

Did Yes on 8 get a 'pass' on their actions while anti-8 is caught on tape during the rarest and most unusual acts of violence? I obviously don't think so. These videos exist because anti-8 demonstrators are prone toward violence and disrespect of everyone who quietly refuses to comply with there demands. Yes on 8 have followed the principles of non-violent demonstration, anti-8 have not.

Since the 1960s homosexuality has slowy seeped its way into the mainstream. Go back and read the early gay rights literature where thay lay out their agenda. To destroy religion and destroy the traditional family was part of that agenda. They saw these two things as roadblocks to full on acceptance of homosexuality

No, "gay marriage" redefines the entire meaning of marriage because marriage means as a union between a man and a woman. Interracial marriages did not change the definition of the legal or social term marriage. There is a big difference. Also, in the dissenting opinion on the same-sex marriage decision in California, Justice Baxter said the majority made up a legal "right to same-sex marriage," which it did not have the constitutional right to do.

While Los Angeles city and county were under a state of emergency because of one of the most devastating fires ever, the city hall protests proceeded as if nothing was happening. the LGBT organizers could have postponed or redirected their protests toward helping fire victims. They could have shown some compassion for the homeless and the frightened. Or, they could have just gone home so that the police could leave the demonstrations and help with the huge traffic and safety problems.
