For me Brian Auger is the greatest musician on earth, he's my mother, my father, my God because his music was the first really touching me when I was a teenie in the early 70s.Have certainly broadened my musical taste since then and have listened to many other great musicians or music but there is only one Brian Auger
I had seen Brian Auger prior to this show, and I REALLY wanted to go to this 2-night show at the Baked Potato (my favorite club in Southern CA). I hope they play there again so I can see them in that quaint little venue where all the greatest musicians go to play.
Effing AWESOME!!!!!! How long would it take to transcribed this magnificent song?? I saw Brian live back in 1974 at Liberty Hall in Houston Texas........ He is timeless, ageless a virtuoso in his own right a Hammond B3 Master... Thank you so much for sharing :D ♥♥♥
I saw this keyboard legend at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa a few years back. He played to around 25 of us. It is truly sad he didn't sell out a much larger venue Auger was the pioneer of jazz/rock fusion keyboard. Incredible show.
@PawneeBill47 I helped Brian get a gig in the early 80's in San Diego. A producer I knew asked me if he should book Brian. I said yes of course. It was a similar turn out in a small club, a handful of devotees. I always enjoyed Brian's material and style. Even today the melodies so haunting with flashes of brilliance while he plays two different instruments at the same time. The B3 alone sets him apart but then he plays a Rhodes tone behind it. No one else like Brian Auger. Talented family!
@dragongoff Candid response: I really don't get how his daughter fits in. She's not that great whereas he's legend. I'm kind of a reserved fan, I NEVER whoop and holler and jump out of my seat (too old). My wife was totally amazed and it seemed infectious, when I began to go nuts the room went nuts!! Damn shame he doesn't get much more exposure. Nice hearing from you.
@PawneeBill47 Thanks for writing back. She's an Auger, that's a special place to be in. I saw James Taylor some years ago he had his son singing backups. There is something to genetically inspired vocals, The Everly Brothers, The Beach Boys, The Bee Gees. My fave album is Closer To It where Brian sings within a choral setting and for the reasons it worked, it featured Brian on B3 and his famous left hand piano. We live in strange times where silly clips get million hits. The Augers have a job.
@dragongoff Isaw that tour as well. A long time ago he toured with Kate and his brother (can't recall his name.) I've seen a lot of bands go bye bye due to family plying their "talents" in the group. When they were here the buzz through the crowd was "why is she here." Anyway, if he wants her, he's the legend. I look for him to be "discovered" in about 30 years.
@PawneeBill47 A lucky staunch fan to have seen that tour. My thoughts exactly. When the dust settles there will be those to peer into the past and realize what Brian Auger was to music as well as the Hammond organ. Brian will have influenced many. Its not over for him.
loved his music since the 70s!
