How effective are these kind of blitz techniques fo self-defense? It is definitely fast but does it have the power necessary to stop an agressor outside of point fighting?
good video, the problem i have when i blitz is im scared of commiting to it, in other words i dont want to get hit by a side kick in the ribs. any advice?
alot of professional fighters are scared of getting hit...the purpose of martial arts isnt to just be a complete hard cunt alot of people are scared of getting hurt the point is to overcome that fear..you dont know how long this person has been training or how old or experienced they are..no need to be so critical
Is your Dojo not to small? How many can be thought there at once? I am interested in getting my own Dojo and just wondering what space i can get away with.
These are good training videos. Don't give up TOO much info tho!(lol) One thing I learned from Jerry Fontanez on the blitz is to step on the opponent's front foot while blitzing, to prevent sidekick counters(as long as the judges don't catch you), and to get your front foot behind the opponent's front foot. There's lots of little tips to watch for. Good stuff, keep it up!
Step on the front foot, Popdaddy??? Yeah, that's great - not only against the rules and a super cheap shot, but you have a good chance of breaking your opponent's foot or hyper-extending their ankle. That's very in the true spirit of martial arts, and a great example for kids. Why not just slip a metal plate into your glove or sharpen your toe nails? It's basically the same thing.
You're right that it's (more or less) sort of a cheap shot, but I've done it(and had it done to me) many times with no injury to anyone. Not an excuse to bend the rules, true, just one more thing to watch for. It's more of a tactic to mentally "freeze" the opponent and gain an advantage, than to physically restrain them. I respect what you said, tho.

What do you want someone to say, you either got the balls to blitz or you aint. If your scared then fighting isn't for you

It's not a matter of being scared. Speed will definitely come into play. The faster the better. What it all boils down to is two things.
1) Reading - If you can read when you're opponent has his guard down for that split second, blitz his ass if you are within range.
2) Timing - If you can time another fighter, I don't see why you can't score on him all day.
Hope that helped you. :)

I like your style, I'm a JKD man, and concentrate more on street fighting, but I like it. Where is your school?
